Topologie du monstre : la place logique du langage entre la trace et l'image-cristal / The topology of the Monster : between the trace and the crystal-image : the logical place of the logosChouchane, Chiraz 22 October 2016 (has links)
The term monster is paradoxical; it is at the same time word and thing, the former being bath blank and esoteric. lt designates an invisible that is nevertheless manifested in the form of irrational information. ln other words, that which is revealed through the monster often appears as nonsense, an aberration. As such, the monster is given in the guise of a mathematical question whereby difference, in itself intangible, is announced. ln the present research, difference is understood in the gaping stretch between the zero and the zero of experience where bath work of art and the dazzling speed of the creative act coïncide; a topological place that bears the trace of the intellect while endowing the image with transparency or its "crystal". This impossible place of experience would be the place of logic; a place towards which language converges and from which it emerges all at once. This research is primarily concerned with the question of movements rather than with the teratology of monsters; it deals with this force, thus described, as it traverses the artist facing the perils of rupture. For that matter, the monster is associated with a higher order of creation, one that is, nevertheless, constantly submitted to the test of existence.

Previous issue date: 2011-04-01 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico / Central Nervous System are the most common pediatric solid tumors. 60% of these
tumors arise in posterior fossa, mainly in cerebellum. The first therapeutic approach is
surgical resection. Malignant tumors require additional strategies - chemotherapy and
radiotherapy. The increasing survival evidences that childhood brain tumors result in
academic and social difficulties that compromise the quality of life of the patients. This
study investigated the intellectual functioning of children between 7 to 15 years
diagnosed with posterior fossa tumors and treated at CEHOPE - Recife / PE. 21 children
were eligible - including 13 children with pilocytic astrocytoma (G1) who underwent
only surgery resection, and eight children with medulloblastoma (G2) - submitted to
surgical resection, chemotherapy and craniospinal radiotherapy. Participants were
evaluated by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - WISC-III. Children of G1
scored better than children of G2. Inferential tools (Mann-Whitney ? Test) identified
significant diferences (p ≤ 0.05) between the Performance IQ (PIQ) and Processing
Speed Index (PSI) as a function of treatment modality; Full Scale IQ (FSIQ), PIQ and
PSI as a function of parental educational level; PIQ, FSIQ, IVP and Freedom from
Distractibility (FDI) as a function of time between diagnosis and evaluation. These
results showed the late and progressive impact of radiotherapy on white matter and
information processing speed. Furthermore, children whose parents have higher
educational level showed better intellectual performance, indicating the influence of
xxii
socio-cultural variables on cognitive development. The impact of cancer and its
treatment on cognitive development and learning should not be underestimated. These
results support the need to increase the understanding of such effects in order to propose
therapeutic strategies which ensure that, in addition to the cure, the full development of
children with this pathology / Os tumores de Sistema Nervoso Central s?o as neoplasias s?lidas mais frequentes na
inf?ncia. 60% desses tumores ocorrem na fossa posterior, cujo principal componente ? o
cerebelo. A primeira interven??o ? a ressec??o cir?rgica; tumores malignos requerem
estrat?gias terap?uticas complementares quimioterapia e radioterapia.
An?lises estat?sticas inferenciais (Teste ?

The difference between psychology and engineering students on emotional intelligence : a study into the construct validity of emotional intelligenceVan Staden, Jakobus 11 1900 (has links)
The criterion groups validity of emotional intelligence according to Mayer & Salovey (1997), ability model of emotional intelligence was investigated. Specifically, psychology (n+207) and engineering (n=195) students were compared on the Mayer, Salovey and Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test version 2 (MSCEIT). The primary factor structure of the MSCEIT was found to be valid with some revisions needed in terms of the reliability and content of the MSCEIT. The second-order factor structure of the MSCEIT was partially confirmed. In terms of the criterion groups validity of emotional intelligence, psychology students were found to exhibit higher levels of the ability to manage emotions in relationships, the ability to understand emotion as well as the ability to facilitate emotions. Engineering and Psychology students exhibited the same level of general emotional management and the ability to accurately identify emotion. Therefore the construct validity of emotional intelligence was partially confirmed. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

On the mode of being of intentional objects : the constitutive function of the intellect by Dietrich of Freiberg (1250-1310)Decaix, Véronique 18 March 2013 (has links)
The primary aim is to examine the constitutive function the intellect exercises on the categories and being as being. The first part of this thesis replaces the treatise in the historical background of the late 13th century debates from the University of Paris regarding the nature of categories and the manner of organizing the real genera of being. It compares Dietrich’s deduction of the categories with the systematization of some of his predecessors such as Albert the Great, Thomas Aquinas and Henry of Ghent. The second part of the thesis deals with the objects caused by the intellect: the One as principle of number and division, relation and time. The last part investigates the manner in which the intellect exercises its constitutive power on being and demonstrates in the final analysis that the subject of metaphysics, the quiditative being of things, is placed at the intersection of logic and reality
