INVENTORY CONTROL SYSTEM : Optimization of production system and reliabilityKALEEM ULLAH, MUHAMMAD January 2010 (has links)
The main idea of this research to solve the problem of inventory management for the paper industry SPM PVT limited. The aim of this research was to find a methodology by which the inventory of raw material could be kept at minimum level by means of buffer stock level. The main objective then lies in finding the minimum level of buffer stock according to daily consumption of raw material, finding the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) reorders point and how much order will be placed in a year to control the shortage of raw material. In this project, we discuss continuous review model (Deterministic EOQ models) that includes the probabilistic demand directly in the formulation. According to the formula, we see the reorder point and the order up to model. The problem was tackled mathematically as well as simulation modeling was used where mathematically tractable solution was not possible. The simulation modeling was done by Awesim software for developing the simulation network. This simulation network has the ability to predict the buffer stock level based on variable consumption of raw material and lead-time. The data collection for this simulation network is taken from the industrial engineering personnel and the departmental studies of the concerned factory. At the end, we find the optimum level of order quantity, reorder point and order days.

Lagerstyrningssystem för ökad flexibilitet / Inventory control system for increased flexibilityAltsäter, Erik January 2009 (has links)
This degree project has been performed at Production unit 1 (PV1) at Wexiödisk AB, where hood type washing machines is manufactured. The purpose of this project has been to investigate which inventory control models that could be suitable to control the section’s material supplies. The work has been accomplished in two steps. At first, items unique to products manufactured at PV1 were treated, followed by items common with other products. According models in relevant literature, suggestions were made to how the models could be applied practically. The suggestions was presented to and discussed with the parties concerned who chose Two-bin system 2. A trial was carried out according to the principle of “the Japanese river” which implied lowered inventory levels. The problems that occurred were noted. The result was that the number of items that was weekly picked and distributed was reduced which has created a basis to also reduce the administration of the systems picking lists. The item wagon has been removed which has cleared floor space at the assembly section. Conditions have been created to merge two picking lists into one and thereby simplify the work for the inventory staff.

Förbättring och effektivisering av lagerhanteringMirzaie Shra, Afroz, Vu, Felix January 2017 (has links)
The following thesis is based on a study on warehousing for an inventory of finished goods at Volvo Construction Equipment in Eskilstuna. The inventory stores components consisting axles and transmissions. The project portrays a current situation analysis based on collected primary data, in form of interviews and observations. The current situation analysis includes a detailed process mapping, different warehouse layouts along with calculations. These aspects have been used in the development of improvement propositions. The company is currently required to deliver components according to FIFO (First In, First Out), that is therefore fundamental when designing the following thesis. The project has however not been based on implementing FIFO, but only improving the existing management of FIFO. The current way of working with FIFO at the company is not ideal, consequently contributed to lack of storage space. This has eventually led to some components being stored outside the warehouse. It means that the components will not be weather-protected, which is one of the aspects that the company wishes to improve. The Authors have presented various improvement propositions consisting investing in a: pallet, mobile- and a push back racking system and an improved inventory layout. These suggestions have been compared based on various factors that could be prioritized by the company. Examples on these key factors are: cost, volume utilization and enforcement of FIFO. The cost analysis for the racking systems are based on assistance from suppliers that has led to an enhanced cost comparison. The presented propositions have been delimited to ultimately being able to decide the final suggestion. For further studies, the company is recommended to invest in a pallet racking system, which is not only a beneficial economical solution, but also solves space shortage while all the components are stored with weather- protection. This will ultimately lead to improvement on managing FIFO in the finished goods inventory that the company strives after.

Improvements of an Inventory Control System with Simulation-based AnalysisRosén Berecz, Maja, Wallhagen, Fabian January 2023 (has links)
This thesis aims to improve the inventory control system of a company´s RDC in Norrköping, Sweden. Inefficiencies and non-optimal processes have been identified in the current system, which could negatively affect operations. The study addresses three questions: understanding the current system, identifying improvements, and adjusting the improved system to fit inventory control constraints. A literature review and case study were conducted, revealing lower service levels and higher costs than expected. Experimental scenarios were simulated to examine different improvements, such as using economic order quantity, different safety stock equations, and investigating service levels. /

The present thesis focuses on analyzing industrial engineering tools that allow increasing the level of internal service in the logistics supply process in a company in the mining sector and with the economic environment of the last 10 years. he hypothesis raises the implementation of an inventory control system and supplier relationship management. The following work is made up of four chapters. In the first, the theoretical framework and success cases were analyzed. In the second, topics such as: background and general and logistical processes of the organization, definition of the problem and its causes, the economic impact and the approach of the general and specific objective were addressed. Consequently, the third chapter was divided into two stages: the first corresponding to the design of the methodology and the second to the development of the proposal. Nevertheless, in the fourth chapter, the resource budget, the financial risk analysis and the preparation of the respective cash flow were included; Likewise, the proposal was validated through simulation with the Promodel software.
Based on the foregoing, it is concluded that, with the correct selection of the inventory system and proper relationship management with suppliers, the level of internal service in the logistics supply process may be increased, thereby achieving optimum compliance level of attention of high rotation spare parts, as well as the fulfillment in the deliveries in time for the purchases with a normal priority. / Trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional
