This thesis Correspondence between word and image in Children's literature is focused on the analysis of selected titles in terms of literary and illustrative. The analysis should determine the methodological criteria in terms of aesthetic, factual and ethical contribution of the book as a whole for the pupil of the fifth and the sixth grade of primary school. The analyses are conducted in terms of literary and illustrative titles on The fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, Lottie and Lisa by Erich Kästner and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. The conclusion of the work provides educational options to work with these titles in lessons of Czech language and literature and Art.

The Master's thesis deals with the didactic adaptation of the book Das doppelte Lottchen (Luisa and Lotka) using its simplified version. The introductory part is dedicated to the important stages of the life and work of its author Erich Kästner, especially the period of the Second World War, specifically the years 1943-1949 and the post-war period in which the novel Luisa and Lotka was written. The interpretative part deals with a comparative analysis of the original version of the text and its simplified version Easy Readers published by Klett. Emphasis is placed on the storyline, the characteristics of the main characters, their language and the language of the narrator. The aim is to describe the changes that have been made to the text in order to make it accessible to Readers who are learning German. The didactic adaptation is based on a simplified version of the novel and is intended for teaching in primary school. It offers suggestions for using this simplified text not only in German language classes, but also focuses on various cross-curricular relationships. The aim of the thesis is to present the text Das doppelte Lottchen in a simplified version and to outline for teachers the broad possibilities of working with a foreign language text not only in German language classes. This thesis is about the German children’s book ‘The flying classroom’ [Das fliegende Klassenzimmer] written by the author Erich Kästner. The living conditions and requirements for upbringing have changed since the book was first published in 1933, and yet Kästner’s book conveys values and educational intentions that, in my opinion, are still relevant and valuable today in relation to the educational goals of the contemporary school system. To strengthen this hypothesis, I analysed which values and virtues are being propagated, what the intention behind those are, and how they are being represented in the children’s book and its latest adaption from 2003. My focus is on the character of the teacher Dr Bökh alias Justus, the just. In order to investigate Kästner’s educational intentions, I used a qualitative and intermedial content analysis with the book as a starting point and compared it with the adaption of 2003 to examine possible differences between them. Furthermore, I’m interested in what is expected and demanded of today’s teacher, the image one has of him or her, and how this relates to the teacher figure in Kästner’s children’s book. In order to come closer to answering the research question, I also examined external factors, such as historical contexts, to be able to justify possible changes in the communication of values during the period post-war until today. My thesis aims to show that – although times have changed – the values conveyed in the children’s book have remained the same and the book is thus attributed to authentic Zeitgeist.

Marasme, décadence, déclin, tels sont les termes souvent utilisés pour qualifier la littérature pour la jeunesse de l'entre-deux-guerres. Mais qu'en est-il réellement de cette période mal connue de la littérature narrative pour la jeunesse, en France et en Allemagne ? Au lendemain de la Première Guerre mondiale, en raison de problèmes économiques, édition et création connaissent nombre de difficultés, ce qui incite les éditeurs, auteurs, universitaires, bibliothécaires et pédagogues à réagir. Dans les années 1920, tandis que subsistent les anciens thèmes et modes d'écriture hérités du XIXe siècle, s'amorce un renouveau lié au contexte politique, social, économique, idéologique et culturel. Qu'il s'agisse de narration ou d'idéologie, une partie de la littérature pour la jeunesse, en France comme en Allemagne, cherche à rompre avec les poncifs hérités du XIXe siècle. Cette étude propose de s'intéresser au renouvellement de l'art du récit pour la jeunesse, à l'apparition de la modernité dans l'écriture narrative pour la jeunesse : nouvelles thématiques, liées aux mutations du monde moderne, nouveaux regards portés sur l'enfance, réflexions sur les techniques littéraires, modernité des choix esthétiques et graphiques. Crise des années 1930, montée du nazisme, exil de certains auteurs allemands pour la jeunesse, Front populaire, montée des périls jouent également un rôle majeur. Entre idéologie, pédagogie et narration, on peut ainsi voir se dessiner une écriture nouvelle pour la jeunesse, l'écriture utopique, l'une des caractéristiques de la modernité littéraire pour la jeunesse de l'entre-deux-guerres, en France comme en Allemagne. Quel bilan tracer du renouvellement de la littérature pour la jeunesse, en France et en Allemagne, à la fin des années 1930 ? Quels en sont les héritages au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale ? Telles sont les questions finales auxquelles ce travail tente d'apporter quelques réponses.

Erich Kästner und Lotzdorf? Ein Beitrag gegen Krieg und immer wieder auftretende Verdummung der Massen, an Hand der provokanten Dichtung Erich Kästners, verbunden mit Recherchen der Opfer des Ersten Weltkrieges aus dem kleinen Dorf Lotzdorf. Grundlage dafür wurden die Urkunden des ehemaligen Standesamtes Lotzdorf mit den Todesnachrichten des „Königl. Sächs. Kriegsarchivs“ mit seinen Kriegsstammrollen“, die erschütternde Einblicke in das Schicksal Lotzdorfer Einwohner gewährten.
