Právní úprava myslivosti / The regulation of hunting

Flax, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
in english The thesis provides general look at the legal regulation of hunting in Czech republic. Review of legal regulations and selected practice of courts is at given places supplemented with practical notes. As basis for the thesis served the obligations of human society in relationship to nature and animal wild life. The wide range of activities associated with hunting is construed in unity to those obligations. Hunting itself is subject to a short teoretical research, even on the ground of it's ethics. The history of hunting so many times already elaborated has been structured and arranged according to additional viewpoints.

Funke, Matthias 04 December 2014 (has links)

Larsson, Martin January 2016 (has links)
Women commit fewer violent crimes than men, with only one tenth of all murders committed by females. This is reflected in the fact that relatively little research has been conducted about women who kill. When women kill, the victim is often a current or former intimate partner. But why do some women kill an individual whom they have previously chosen to spend their life with? Are there any similarities between these women? This systematic literature review shows that a majority of women who take the life of an intimate partner, do it after having been subjected to physical and psychological violence by their partner for a long period of time. Former partner violence, and the imminent risk of being subjected to yet another episode of serious violence, leads to these women living with constant fear, horror and anxiety. Many of these women also experience a sense of isolation, which is reinforced by the fact they their partner often forbids them to work outside of the home. Women who kill their intimate partner often do so in, what they feel is, self-defence. Many of these women say that they killed their partner because they had to. Had they not killed him, they themselves would probably have been murdered.

16 sätt att yla : Narratologiska anaylser av Porpentines Howling Dogs och Abigail Corfmans 16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds / 16 ways to howl : Analyzing Porpentine’s Howling Dogs and Abigail Corfman’s 16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds

Zúniga Elfström, Love January 2020 (has links)
I denna uppsats analyseras spelen Howling Dogs och 16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds ur ett narratologiskt perspektiv. / This essay contains narratological analyses of the games Howling Dogs and 16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds. The analyses are focused on the hypertext’s medial impact on the relations between user and narrative as well as narrator and narratee. The work is based on methods using possible worlds theory, created by theorists such as Alice Bell. A main purpose here is to further exemplify how to analyze texts having a deictic effect between themselves self and their readers. The purpose here is thus to test existing methods and further develop them. This purpose is also motivated by a, possibly naïve, hope of getting one step closer to a wider acknowledgement of how games can contribute to the subject of literature.

Lions on small reserves : an evaluation of ecological impact and financial viability

Erasmus, Wayne Norman 31 July 2008 (has links)
A founder population of lion (Panthera Leo) was introduced into a 70 km² privately-owned, wildlife reserve in the Waterberg area of South Africa. The lion and prey species' populations were monitored between 2001 and 2004. In this period, 452 kills were recorded at a mean kill rate of one kill every 2.43 days. The lions killed 11 common prey species. Eland, warthog, kudu, wildebeest and zebra comprised 75 % of the lion's diet. The lions consumed an average of 8 % of the available common prey species population per annum. Initially, the mean ungulate population growth rate was 30.9 %, but this rate declined to -0.8 % during the study period. Significantly more animals were killed in open habitats than in closed habitats. The loss in game value for the study period was over one million Rand. A formula was compiled to quantify the cost versus return aspects of introducing lion. / Nature Conservation / M. Tech. (Nature Conservation)

Survivability enhancement in a combat environment

Seow, Yoke Wei. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / The objective of this thesis is to provide an aircraft with an optimal route to its destination that avoids encroaching into surface-to-air weapons killing envelopes in real time. The optimal route computed will be updated dynamically, depending on the location of the vehicle and the location of the Surface to Air Missile (SAM) sites. The problem was solved using heuristic algorithms instead of the conventional Dijkstra's & Bellman Ford algorithms, which are computationally expensive. Data fusion techniques such as spatial correlation and triangulation algorithms are presented in detail. Such techniques are important for situational awareness in a real time combat environment. Important information provided by onboard sensors are merged with the preplanned data to provide the operator with a better integrated picture of the combat environment. / Civilian, Singapore Ministry of Defense

The Imagined Child

Richards, Jo-Anne January 2016 (has links)
This PhD comprises a work of fiction and a dissertation, both of which explore childhood, children and parenthood. The Imagined Child, the novel, closely examines the nature of parenthood, the expectations inherent in the parent-child relationship, and the responsibilities that society imposes on parents. It explores the strains of guilt and blame that surround all primary relationships: every child is damaged in some way – through nature and nurture. How they deal with that damage determines the kinds of adults – and ultimately the kinds of parents – they become. The dissertation approaches childhood as a literary device. It explores the ways in which four novelists from different historical periods have characterised and thematised childhood. It presents ‘childhood’ as a social construct and considers the ways in which childhood and parenting have changed in recent, Western history. It then focuses on the research into and literary representations of children in Africa to explore the versions of childhood inherited by African, and particularly South African, children and how this differs from American or European models. Textual analysis was employed to examine the representation of childhood in four texts: Charles Dickens’s David Copperfield (1850), L.P. Hartley’s The Go-Between (1953), Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), and Michiel Heyns’s The Children’s Day (2002). An examination of research and literature shows a very different trajectory for childhood in Africa than in Europe, and reveals that childhood on the continent has never been consistent, in life or literature. There is, in other words, no universal “African childhood”. The literary children of South Africa are examined not only to show how differently childhood is experienced in diverse segments of society, but also to measure the temperature of the times. The differing versions of literary childhood, and their varying treatments, provide a gauge for the zeitgeist in South African society from the 1990s. The dissertation argues that an examination of literary children provides insight into the development of a new democracy. The dissertation and the novel, taken together, suggest that through the real and imagined children of literature can be gained a sense of ourselves.

A feature of environmental disasters is that they disclose both environmental crises and the media limitation in reporting them. The research tried to contribute to the subject through the study of press media coverage of a large fish kill along an estuary in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, in 2007. Thematic content analysis of newspaper reports identified the predominance of a superficial and denunciative coverage, lacking an educational perspective, and with little contribution to formation of a critical sense in readers. It also has identified the precarious treatment of those scientific concepts that could substantiate the actual causes of mortality of tons of aquatic fauna / A m?dia tem evidenciado de forma crescente a quest?o ambiental, principalmente em situa??es de desastres. [en] STUDY OF RELIEF WELLS TO KILL A BLOWOUT IN A SUBSEA GAS WELL / [pt] ESTUDO SOBRE POÇOS DE ALÍVIO PARA CONTROLE DE BLOWOUT EM POÇO MARÍTIMO DE GÁS

FABRICIO GONCALVES AZEVEDO 24 October 2017 (has links)
[en] Accidents with uncontrolled influx of hydrocarbons into an oil well (blowouts) are events with a low probability of occurrence in the industry. Although, if they occur, the impact may be catastrophic. The Macondo event, with British Petroleum s rig (BP) in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM), showed that an accident of this proportion has a significant impact on people, environment and an image of the company. Therefore, a quick and definitive response for the problem is necessary. There are several possibilities to contain an oil spill caused by a blowout. However, the most effective way to safely plug and abandon (P and A) the blowout well is the relief well. This technique consists of the construction of a directional well at a certain distance from the blowout well, respecting minimum safety criteria, in order to intercept this at the point established in the project. After the interception, kill mud is pumped at high rates what makes a backpressure capable of killing the blowout well. When this backpressure is enough to kill the blowout well, cement is pumped through the relief well to plug and abandon permanently the well. In the present work, the objective is to kill the blowout well and we consider that detection and interception of the blowout well was successfully been made at the target point. Detection, interception and P and A of the blowout well are not covered in detail. This work is developed based on an exploratory gas well to be simulated, working the pump rate and pump pressure requirements that best fit in the proposed one. The purpose of well killing is to kill the well optimizing the parameters of pressure, flow and volume of fluid considering the rig and vessels available in the market. If well killing is not possible by varying the density of the kill mud and pump pressure it will be tried new strategies like changing the number of relief wells at the same time to be drilled killing the blowout well. It s not a purpose of this study to change the well design.
