La formación docente en la atención de niños con Altas Capacidades / The formation of the teachers in the attention of the gifted children

Weisson Hidalgo, Ingrid María 10 December 2020 (has links)
The classroom is a space in which the diversity of the students emerges. Educators are responsible for providing answers and attention to all those individuals, not only to students with learning difficulties but also to those with high abilities. Therefore, it is important that teachers receive knowledge about the training of children with high abilities in their professional training. In this sense, the main objective of this thesis is to describe the perceptions of a group of ten students of final year in the career of Education regarding their training in high capacities throughout their university career. To achieve the objective, we have worked with the phenomenological methodology, which allows us to carry out a descriptive analysis of the perceptions of the interviewed students. The results of this study pointed to a lack of knowledge on the subject of high abilities on the part of the students, as well as a lack of presentation and deepening of the subject during their teacher training in the Education career. As a consequence, we want to recommend a curricular enrichment to start a formation that is going to provide knowledge about talented children to the future teachers. / Tesis

Integrierter Ansatz zur systemunabhängigen Wiederverwendung von Lerninhalten

Urbansky, Stefan 05 April 2005 (has links)
The preparation of learning content is one of the most important process in E-Learning. This thesis shows an approach to reuse learning content. On the one hand the costs of the creation process can be reduced and on the other hand effective methods for administration are pointed out. Starting point of the approach is a four-level content model (assets, learning materials, learning modules and seminars), which divides learning contents on the basis of granularity. This model considers thereby current E-Learning-standards concerning content and metadata, whereby an open reuse is possible. For the processing of generic representations, like materials in the XML format, the concept of the Templates was taken up and extended by the content variants. These make the presentation of different developments of the materials possible, for example concerning the output format, the language, the degree of difficulty of tasks or the version. Further this thesis pointed out an appropriate concept for the system development of a learning platform. This is in particular characterized by the partitioning into different subsystems, which makes possible a flexible configuration and placement concerning to the requirements to the reuse.

Canvas och COVID-19 : En fallstudie i akademiskt engagemang vid distansundervisning på Campus Gotland / Canvas and COVID-19 : A case study in student engagement during distance learning at Campus Gotland

Högman, Jonas, Dyrstad, Oscar January 2020 (has links)
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has forced Uppsala University and many other universities to move towards online learning. This transition emphasizes the importance of Canvas, which is the learning management system in use at the university. Student engagement is a useful predictor for academic results and dropout frequency at the university level. It is of general interest to investigate how the forced transition to online learning has affected current levels of student engagement. A survey (n=50) was administered to measure student engagement. In addition, three lecturers at the Department of Informatics and Media at Campus Gotland were interviewed on their views of student engagement, Canvas, and distance learning in general during the Coronavirus pandemic. The results point towards an increased gap in engagement between students with previously high and low student engagement levels. Further studies investigating the causes of this increased gap are advised.

HOW CAN COMPUTER-BASED PROGRAMMING EXAMS BE IMPLEMENTED FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS?

Farshchi Alvarez, Aria Richard, Gölman, Fredrik January 2021 (has links)
Programming usually includes the use of a computer and a text editor, yet programming courses given at institutions of higher education often conclude with traditional written exams to assess the students’ acquired practical knowledge. This traditional examination method restricts the complexity of programming problems and may result in unintentional subjective assessments. Previous research on computer-based programming exams that mimic real programming conditions suggest that the assessment of the students’ acquired knowledge can be made more efficient while also simplifying both grading and administration processes. We use Bunge’s general scientific method and case study methodology to develop a system for computer-based programming exams that can be implemented at KTH Kista. Our results suggest that programming exams can be safely performed on the students’ own computers by booting the computer into a restricted preconfigured system environment with blocked Internet access from a usb flash drive. Paired with the open-source learning management system Moodle, the exams can be administered electronically and designed with automatic grading processes. To help exam invigilators we also developed an observation tool that can detect if the restricted system environment is circumvented. Despite the lack of real tests of the system due to the circumstances caused by the ongoing pandemic, we conclude, with the support of previous studies, that our proposed solution for computer-based programming exams can improve the quality and efficiency of programming courses and their examination processes.

Gamifying Higher Education. Beyond Badges, Points and Leaderboards

Fischer, Helge, Heinz, Matthias, Schlenker, Lars, Follert, Fabiane 09 May 2019 (has links)
Purpose – Gamification or related concepts such as serious games and playful design are discussed intensively in the field of academic education. Since 2011, gamification has continuously been recorded as a medium-term trend of online education in the annually published Horizon Report. In all areas in which engagement, participation, and motivation of individuals are the key success factors, strategies of gamification are considered. But, what are potentials of gamification in the field of higher education? How can educational technologies such as learning management systems be gamified? An essential part of this article is a study regarding the gamification of the learning management system OPAL. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a master thesis at the faculty of educational sciences, a study was conducted in order to investigate how the use of game elements can increase the attractiveness of OPAL for students. OPAL is the central learning management system at the Technische Universität Dresden. The study should answer the question: Which game design elements increase the attractiveness of OPAL for students? The research question was answered with a qualitative approach, while the collection of data was carried out by a focus group and expert interviews. The sample included six master’s students and one expert. The findings provide recommendations for redesigning OPAL. Originality/value – Often gamification is related to tools like points, badges, and leaderboards. But what elements exist beyond these? The contribution initially provides conceptual foundations and refers to game mechanics as the specifics of games. Based on this, the potential of gamification in higher education teaching was discussed. Practical implications – The article describes the concept of gamification and how this approach can be used in university teaching, especially for designing Learning Management Systems.

Learning styles, Personalization, and Learning Management Systems : Towards a Student-Centred LMS Approach / Lärstilar, personalisering och system för hantering av lärande : Mot en studentcentrerad LMS-strategi

Khaled, Mélissa January 2021 (has links)
This study investigates existing learning management systems practices, in this case Canvas and Moodle in relation to user personalization and students’ learning styles as both factors are closely contribute to the design of a meaningful learning experience for learners. With the expansion of these teaching tools and methods, it seems crucial to determine to what extent they actually serve the learner and what role is really given to the student using these online platforms. Factors such as instructors’ feedback, peer communication, learning objects and follow-up will be examined. This study is anchored in a Swedish academic setting, and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of learners' needs, expectations, and preferences to benefit educational institutions as well as LMS developers. The goal is to assess how such factors play an essential role in the personalization of learning tools and to suggest that their consideration can lead to the development of more intuitive LMS platforms that do not solely rely on content uploaded by teachers, but that can in turn potentially offer relevant content tailored to each user.

Virtuelles Doktorandenstudium Bologna - Stufe 3 in der e-Learning Praxis

Meyer, Stephan, Claus, Thorsten 24 November 2009 (has links)
