LULEÅS FOLKBIBLIOTEKSUTVECKLING UR ETT GENUSPERSPEKTIV : - med fokus på centralbibliotekarien Olga Bardh

Bergenudd, Linnéa January 2020 (has links)

Analýza vzdělanostní struktury pracovníků ve vysokoškolských knihovnách ČR / Analysis of the educational structure of employees in the university libraries of the Czech Republic

Kulová, Sára January 2021 (has links)
(English) The aim of this diploma thesis is to assess the current state of the educational structure of staff in university libraries on a research sample of university libraries, which are members of the Association of Libraries of Czech Universities. In the introduction, the thesis presents a brief historical excursion into the development of the position of the university librarian. At present, greater demands are placed on the skills and knowledge of the university librarian. The librarian can obtain them by starting school, retraining courses, or lifelong learning. The legislation does not yet specify the requirements of the professional competence for work as a librarian in the library. The practical part deals with the analysis of the educational structure of staff and the management of university libraries. I am interested in their attitude to further education and also what they would appreciate in this area. Data collection is ensured via a combination of a questionnaire survey and subsequent interviews, which complete the results of the questionnaires. Chosen research methods were intended for both groups. The conclusion of the thesis evaluates all findings and offers possible solutions to the problems existing in the field of further education.

Library Strategies: Personal Librarian (PL) to Improve Retention for First Generation and Transfer Students

Wilson, Jonathan R., Paddock, Jeri 27 July 2022 (has links)
In an effort to improve retention and promote library services to new incoming students, the Sherrod Library staff at East Tennessee State University discussed different ideas and decided to expand the Lending Technology Program & Personal Librarian (PL) program to include First Generation and Transfer students. To help decrease library anxiety, students received by email a weekly newsletter of events and workshops happening in the library. These emails also personally reached out and regularly informed the students of information literacy skills such as navigating the library website, subject guides, tutoring center, and citation help. Additionally, the students received a short two-minute YouTube video bi-monthly that showed a different department in the library. The PL acts as a guide to help direct the students to the proper resources while presenting a friendly and approachable person for the students to interact with when asking for help.

Elementary School Climate Factors and Personality and Status Variables Associated with School Library Media Specialists Chosen by Classroom Teachers for Cooperation on Instructional Problems

Bell, Michael David, 1943- 12 1900 (has links)
This study investigated relationships between the extent to which elementary classroom teachers tend to choose school library media specialists for cooperation on instructional problems and several school climate and faculty related characteristics including the general academic effectiveness of the school, the overall cohesion and cooperativeness of the teaching faculty on instructional matters, and the propensity of the group and individual faculty to seek cooperation to solve instructional problems. The instructional choice status of the school library media specialist was also studied in relation to various individual personality factors, as measured by Cattell's 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire, as well as school media specialist status variables including degreed or non-degreed status, total years of experience as a school library media specialist, years of experience on campus as a school library media specialist, and total number of years of experience in the field of education. The instructional status of the school library media specialist was also examined in relationship to the size of the school served. The study included 1,079 elementary classroom teachers and thirty-nine school library media specialists from thirty-nine Texas elementary schools similar in important wealth, size, and student demographic characteristics. Twenty of the schools ranked in the bottom 25% of all schools in the state as to how well their students performed on the 1988 Texas Educational Assessment of Minimum Skills (TEAMS) test. Nineteen schools ranked among the top 25%of all schools in the state in academic effectiveness. As compared to the low academic schools, the high academic schools were found to be significantly more instructionally cohesive, and classroom teachers in those schools were significantly more disposed to choose the school library media specialist to cooperate with them on instructional problems. No significant relationships were discovered between the instructional choice status of the school media specialist and his or her measured personality characteristics.

Investigating The Greek Higher Education Gender Equality Policy Landscape Under an Enhanced Critical Frame Analysis Lens

Sant-Geronikolou, Stavroula January 2023 (has links)
Despite the existence of a formalized set of EU strategies, problems seem to abound when it comes to the implementation of Gender Equality policies in universities. Specifically in the Greek context, the potential of GEPs to generate institutional and cultural change is highly contested. Aiming to illuminate how GE is conceptualized and implemented in this context but also to add to the methodological realm of blending constructivist with constructionist approaches, the critical frame analysis of the maximum variation sample of eight Greek universities’ policies revealed the persistence of the numeric discourse in women’s representation and a tokenistic, non-disruptive approach to proposing solutions. It has nevertheless also brought to light a progressive cluster of GE Committees that have managed to push their cause forward thanks to the heightened importance attributed to networking, and deliberations.
