The prime focus of this dissertation is the relationship between natural philosophy, magic and religion. This is studied through an emphasis on ritual and ritualising practices centred on predicting and causing effect through ritual action. A focus therefore follows on astrological, healing and Christian practices, studied through almanacks and healing texts. The analysis is limited geographically to Denmark, and more specifically to Copenhagen and Scania. Conclusions drawn include the need to emphasise a continuity in ideas throughout the early modern period. This is demonstrated by showing a gradual shift in ritualised practices from the catholic era to and throughout the protestant era during the 1500s. Furthermore, astrologyis seen as an important ritualised practice that spans the spheres of both natural philosophy, magic and religion. Astrology as a ritualised practice is also shown to have been used foracademic, theological and agricultural purposes. The ritualised astrological practices within these spheres are confirmed to vary in execution but also show many similarities in regards to underlying ideas. Such ideas include sympathetic links between nature and the body and between the celestial spheres and earth. Christian ideas are also demonstrated to permeate ritual practices in the astrological, magical and medicinal fields. Re-ritualisation of healing and astrological practices are also concluded to have been used as a tool for implementing reformation ideals

The purpose of this study is to investigate muslim youth with an immigrant background from Turkey. The study examines their beliefs about jinn and magic and how these beliefs to the Quran. This study has two questions: study both personal beliefs and where the Muslim youth's beliefs come from. Five young people who are all second generation immigrants from Turkey have been interviewed. During the interview, the interviewees must answer nine questions about both jinnand magic. The interviewees also chose to relate to the Quran when they answered the interview questions. The results from the interviews have then been transcribed and coded to answer the study's purpose and questions.

The purpose of this essay is to explore actions of the representatives of the church during the first of the trials of what later developed to the great swedish witch-hunts between the years 1668–1676. The method of this study is microhistorical, where you look at local events that then can be applied on a bigger scale. The theoretical ideas applied are Michel Foucault theories of a society at war, and the dynamics between central power and peripheral power in that kind of situation. By applying these theories, the relations between central juridical directives and the enforcement of these in a local place can be studied. The main subject of interest for this essay is clerical representative Lars P. Elvius, who, during the trials, were the one responsible and the one the rest of the court relied on for interpreting the crimes of witchcraft, maleficum and other crimes of supernatural art. By looking at the directives and laws concerning witchcraft, how he interpreted the testimonies of the accused and what kind of verdict was given at the end of the trial, the relationship between central directives and peripheral enforcement is made clear. This study is part chronological and part thematic; the directives and laws presented first, followed by the interpretation during the trial categorized thematically, with correlating testimony and crime, and finally the verdict at the end of the trial.

Det här arbetet berör frågeställningen kring hur en specifika pitchrörelser i tre generella frekvensområden påverkar hur man uppfattar källan och affekten av magi genom ett interaktivt media. Med hjälp av tidigare forskning kring ljudperception och interaktivt lyssnande i samband med ytterligare research och löpande mindre undersökningar, framställdes en artefakt.Undersökningen omfattade 17 informanter mellan åldrarna 18-50 fördelade mellan en intervju- och enkätbaserad undersökning. De fick interagera med tre olika ljudeffekter och svara på frågor. Skillnaden mellan intervjuerna och enkätundersökningen var att de som deltog i enkäten endast interagerade med en av de tre ljudeffekterna.I resultatet visade det sig att majoriteten av informanterna kunde koppla ljudeffekterna till den ljudkälla de var konceptuellt baserade på. Det visade sig också att ljudeffektens betydelse var mer benägen att förändras beroende på om ljudet var stokastiskt eller deterministiskt. Det ansågs bland annat att en nedåtgående pitchrörelse tillförde en känsla av tyngd i några av ljudeffekterna, och att en uppåtgående rörelse löste upp eller tillförde energi beroende på vilket frekvensområde det påverkade.I en fördjupad version av studien hade både artefakten behövt omfattas och analyseras ur fler perspektiv och av fler involverade, samt innehålla deltagande ifrån en större mängd erfarna och oerfarna lyssnare över ett mer omfattande ålderspann.

Après un rappel des méthodes existantes de RMN haute-résolution sur les noyaux quadrupolaires, nous présentons une étude de la manipulation des cohérences multiquanta par des impulsions de champ radiofréquence. Les résultats obtenus sont ensuite appliqués à la recherche des conditions optimales pour la réalisation des nouvelles expériences de corrélation multiquanta en rotation à l'angle magique (ou MQMAS). Nous rappelons les principes de cette méthode, des séquences et du traitement du signal utilisés pour l'obtention des spectres. Un ensemble d'exemples d'application (sur les hydrates alumineux et ciments) permettent de montrer les progrès majeurs apportés par cette nouvelle technique. Après une analyse de la théorie de Floquet, nous présentons le formalisme que nous avons développé pour l'étude théorique et numérique du comportement d'un spin soumis à une interaction quadrupolaire en présence d'un champ radiofréquence et dans un échantillon en rotation. Il est appliqué à l'étude des phénomènes de transfert de cohérence adiabatique induit par la rotation de l'échantillon. Nous proposons ensuite une extension pour décrire quantitativement tous les aspects de la spectroscopie MQMAS. Les résultats expérimentaux permettent de valider notre approche. Une étude préliminaire de l'application de la spectroscopie MQMAS et des simulations pour l'analyse structurale de matériaux amorphes est présentée. La troisième et dernière partie présente la théorie et les résultats obtenus sur l'étude de l'ordre dipolaire en rotation à l'angle magique. Deux modèles distincts sont proposés selon le régime d'évolution du système : vitesse de rotation lente et régime adiabatique, vitesse de rotation rapide.

<p>Syftet med uppsatsen var att ta reda på hur trollformler kan överleva flera århundraden. Jag har studerat en formel som botar vrickning eller brott på ben och bygger på ett muntligt berättande. För vidare resultat har jag tagit med historiska skeenden för att kunna se vad som har påverkat dess överlevnad. Jag har även tittat på ritualerna och magin kring boteformeln. Dessutom ifrågasatte jag om besvärjelsen var en magisk eller en religiös handling. Då det finns likheter med andra traditioner som vi för vidare idag för att lättare förstå, t.ex. att man ska spotta tre gånger när en svart katt korsar vägen eller att inte lägga nycklarna på bordet eller att gå under en stege vilket betyder otur. Med hjälp av nedteckningar av boteformeln och andra efterforskningar inom området har jag kommit fram till ett gott resultat. Det sociala och kulturella ligger till grund för att besvärjelsen ska överleva. Vilket kryddas med ett hemlighetsmakeri kring botandet som fångar mångas intresse med sin spänning. Det är en tradition som är förankrad, vilket gör att trollformeln förs vidare.</p>
