Engineers and Managerial Training in GermanyNippe, Anton January 2016 (has links)
The master thesis presented deals with the question of whether superiors in the engineering field in Germany should undergo managerial training to be better-suited managers than superiors without such training. This thesis looks into this question through a survey of a homogenous group of engineering professionals working in Germany. The survey strives to gain information from the engineering professionals regarding their opinions and experience as managers with and/or without managerial training and their capacity to fulfill their managerial duties. This problem resonates widely in the engineering world, yet it seems that not enough action is being taken towards educating personnel in elevated positions throughout a company’s hierarchy.

A Comparative Analysis of Three Forms of Evaluating Management Training ProgramsHale, John P. 12 1900 (has links)
The practice of training evaluation has not kept pace with prescription, and evaluations being being done are frequently negligent of appropriate controls needed to draw valid conclusions. A comparison was made of training outcomes contrasting results obtained using carefully controlled scientific approaches with those from a more popular less scientific approach. The research design involved the collection and analysis of data from a single organizations managerial training program. , Three different methods of training evaluation were studied: an "immediate reaction" rating sheet, a self-report participant survey, and a similar survey completed by t he participants' subordinates. Bo th surv ey r e sul t s showed no signif icant c hang es in on-the-job behavior six weeks after training. In contrast the "immediate reaction" ratings were positive, implying the training program was a "success." Conclusions w ere drawn concerning the validity of methods compared.

The assessment centre as a predictor of managerial training results / Takseersentrum as 'n voorspeller van bestuursopleiding resultateOlivier, Benjamin Hugh 05 1900 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate the validity of an assessment centre as a predictor of managerial training
results. For this purpose, the assessment ratings of 77 white, male, middle managers, who had taken part in a
Middle Management Assessment Centre (MMAC) in a South African service organisation, were compared to the results they achieved on a Senior Management Training Course. From the statistical analyses conducted, correlation coefficients, corrected for restriction of range, of -0, 03, 0,32 and 0,22 were obtained between the Overall Assessment Rating and a theoretical, practical and total grade criterion respectively. These results indicated that the MMAC was a valid predictor of practical and total course grades, but an invalid predictor of theoretical course grades. Explanations for the results obtained are provided and three recommendations are made concerning the use of the MMAC to predict training results. Directions for possible future research are also provided.

Previous issue date: 2008-02-22 / The present moment in history is characterized by the incessant search for new models that can answer the recent human and social demands of growing complexity that emerge in our society marked by constant transformations. This work analyzes and reflects on the managerial formation of Engineers who eventually arrive at managerial positions in companies of the electrical energy sector during their careers. Besides bringing to light the historical and social importance of the sector, the study surveys and examines questions related to knowledge in the contemporary world and its implications in the productive sector and consequently in corporative education too. It questions the integral development of the human being in this process by emphasizing contradictions between theory and practice, intentions and objectives, technical and humanistic formation and objectives and results. To develop the study, semi-structured interviews, inventories and questionnaires were applied in order to collect data and information about the managerial formation of Engineering Managers in private or public enterprises. It is hoped that the result of the study will be contributions for the growth of knowledge of the actual reality, increasing values for the formation of future Engineers and Engineering Managers and the creation of scientific, social and cultural support for them. It is also hoped that creation of new proposals for academic as well as organizational education will be possible, promoting a systematic relationship between universities and companies. This would stimulate the transformation of managerial programs developed in the corporations, promoting a formation of Engineers and Engineering Managers that is complete and directed to forming Integral Human Beings. Problematiza a quest?o do desenvolvimento do Ser Humano Integral nesse processo, procurando salientar as contradi??es entre teoria e pr?tica; inten??es e objetivos, forma??o t?cnica e forma??o human?stica; objetivos e resultados.

Plaaslike owerhede se primêre gesondheidsafdelings : 'n verpleegbestuurperspektiefHarris, Ragel Susanna 11 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this census was to obtain a perspective on the management of primary health services of local authorities by nurses in the Free State. Factors regarding the extent of management in primary health care services by nurses, working relationships between them and their superiors, their optimal utilisation with regard to management and certain aspects of their managerial training, were identified as important components.
Analysis of data indicated that nurses and their superiors differ from one another regarding their views on managerial functions of the nurses in charge. Working relationships between nurses in charge and their superiors were not always satisfactory. Nurses found the poor utilization of their management skills unacceptable. Certain aspects of the managerial training of nurses should receive attention. Local authorities should provide opportunities for ongoing managerial training for nurses. Recommendations to utilise nurses in charge of primary health care services optimally, were formulated. / Health Studies / M.A.
