Dytynyshyn, David 11 1900 (has links)
For a pastor in the Christian Evangelical tradition, it is difficult to explain how a believer, who once loved and served God with passion, finds that a few years later his motivation directed towards God has waned. Though using different terminology, coaches ask essentially the same question concerning some of their athletes. How can they incite those under their supervision to perform in light of their full potential? If motivation is the motor of behaviour, for the majority of people emotions are the steering wheel. People, by nature, tend to steer their behaviour in a direction that reinforces desirable emotions and avoids those that are undesirable. This is true for both athletes and believers. This thesis proposes a reflection on motivation as it relates to two fields of study: theology and psychology. More precisely it looks at the subject of pleasure, motivation, and human action in the areas of modern sport and spirituality, with the intention of shedding new light on our problem. The first few chapters seek to identify the common ground between sport and spirituality (chapter 1), and to situate our problem in its anthropological context by defining the basic concepts of emotion (chapter 2) and motivation (chapter 3) according to modern psychology. The chapters that follow examine motivation from an understanding of sport psychology (chapter 4) before moving on to its counterpart from a theological perspective (chapter 5) by consulting two protestant theologians: Jürgen Moltmann of a liberal persuasion and John Piper, a conservative evangelical. Though contemporary psychology is known as being a discipline fixed in a Darwinian or Humanist paradigm which disassociates from any theological understanding of human beings, chapter 6 presents examples of how a theological discussion, outside of empirical confirmation, may bring a complementary vision to contemporary psychology and contribute to the well being of both athlete and believer. The chapter also proposes how an understanding of psychology, acceptable to an evangelical interpretation, may shed light on the possible changes in motivation a believer may experience in his love and service for God. The last chapter projects the ideas of this study to other fields of interest such as Bible study, the counseling of believers and athletes, and the work of military chaplains.

[en] THE ESCHATOLOGY OF LOVE: THE HOPE IN THE TRINITARIAN UNDERSTANDING OF GOD IN JURGEN MOLTMANN / [pt] A ESCATOLOGIA DO AMOR: A ESPERANÇA NA COMPREENSÃO TRINITÁRIA DE DEUS EM JURGEN MOLTMANN

ROGERIO GUIMARAES DE ALMEIDA CUNHA 27 April 2018 (has links)
[en] The eschatology of love is the study of the eschatology of J. Moltmann from his understanding of God in the history of the suffering of the world and in the history of the suffering of God s solidarity for this world. Love is the Christian concept of God as Trinity that moves from His future towards His creation. It is all about the Love God who suffers (as God) in solidarity in the suffering of His creation. The Christian God is not apathetic, immobile, but love. This love bases the hope, which is a fundamental characteristic of the Christian faith. From the passage from the eschatology of an informative discourse to a performative discourse, this research points to the biographical data of J. Moltmann s theology and the implication of this data in the understanding of God since the Paschal Christ Event, which reflects the divine pathos on the cross of Christ, united to the situation of abandonment and death of man, the yes of God to this Crucified One by His resurrection and the rise up of His future by the work of the Holy Spirit. From this perspective, the Christian existence as informed by the hope is based on this revealing God s love. This research starts from the enquiry for God and hope in J. Moltmann, which goes on to deepen Moltmann s understanding of God and reflects the eschatological statement of this understanding of God as Trinity, whose invitative love liberates, transforms and integrates, characterizing the Christian faith and its praxis as an eschatological datum.

LUCAS SOARES DOS SANTOS 18 August 2017 (has links)
[en] The mission of the Holy Spirit has aspects that with the advancement of theology have gained more attention by theologians and the diverse Christian traditions. Jurgen Moltmann, among a large number of theologians, develops an original and complex reflection on the Holy Spirit, beginning with his famous Theology of Hope and having as its apex the production of the book The Spirit of Life, a work that he dedicates exclusively To reflection on the Holy Spirit. He will produce a Pneumatology that will be guided by his conception of Christian eschatology and by the biblical texts of the Apostle Paul. This research has as main objective to make an approach on how Jurgen Moltmann presents / displays the relation between the Holy Spirit and the Christian Hope taking as starting point the theological nods that it builds in the Theology of the Hope. Our approach will be divided into three different steps. At first, we will devote ourselves to presenting the main texts produced by theologians in reflecting on the Holy Spirit. Then this work will make a presentation of the main aspects of Pneumatologia moltmanianna through his main works. The final step is to discuss how Jurgen Moltmann understands the relationship between the Holy Spirit and Christian Hope. After the research, we conclude that our author produces a Pneumatology that must be read from the Eschatology that he promotes in his Theology of Hope. The Holy Spirit is understood as the life-giving power of God, which enables men and women to experience the promises of the future with God, partially, still in the present. He ensures that they will be fulfilled and propels the Church, which lives in this hope of a full realization of what has been promised, to walk within history by signaling the coming Kingdom through its actions.

In Latin America, little was done about a re-elaboration of eschatology and its implications for systematic theology in a Latin American theological method. Among the few works we have the book of João Batista Libânio and Maria Clara Bingemer, Christian Eschatology (1985). Both authors address the theme of Christian hope from different perspectives. After describing systematically the eschatologies of these two authors, we seek to determine to what extent the focus of these authors contributes or not as a theoretical tool to read the world and to illuminate a praxis engaged with change and transformation of oppressive structures in society. In the end, it is about rethinking eschatology in its relevance to the daily life of people.

Daze, Louise January 2012 (has links)

The intention is to verify, from this possible dialogue, whether Freud?s psychoanalysis is capable of bringing contributions to theology. The following works of Freud are studied, in specific, on religion: ?Obsessive actions and religious practices? (1907), ?Totem and taboo? (1913), ?The future of an illusion? (1917), ?Civilization and its discontents? (1929), ?Moses and monotheism? (1939); the studied works of Moltmann are ?Theology of hope? (1964), ?The crucified God? (1972). In this comparative analysis of texts, we work on the assumption that Sigmund Freud, in this studies, remained restricted to observation of the religious phenomenon from the perspective of obsessive neurosis, therefore not including the possible insights his general theory of the human mind could engender to the mature religious experience, as J?rgen Moltmann defines it.

A modern technical scientific society is characterized based on its crises. The modernity in crisis of feelings and values and its consequences in the social behavior is analyzed. This model of society and its conceptions about individual, society, life, death, nature, religion and culture is criticized. It is sought through Moltmann theology to comprehend the ethic of hope as an alternative for the overcoming of this reality of crisis. The Christ resurrection is said as a sign of hope of the humanity, and the Christ Gospel as a model and criterion for human relations. An ethic of hope is proposed to redefine the humanity place in front of God and the creation, motivating to a more active participation for the seeking of a full life with dignity and justice.
