Synthesis and Characterisation of Non-Evaporable Getter Films Based on Ti, Zr and VEnqvist, Erik January 2011 (has links)
Non-evaporable getters (NEG) are widely used in ultra high vacuum (UHV) systems for particle accelerators to assure distributed pumping speed. By heating the NEG to an activation temperature, the oxide layer on the surface dissolves into the material, leaving a clean (activated) surface. The activated NEG surface is capable of chemisorbing most of the residual gases present in a UHV system and will act as a vacuum pump. NEG can be sputter deposited on the inner wall of vacuum chambers, turning the whole wall from a source of gas into a pump. At the largest particle accelerator in the world, the Large Hadron Collider, more than 6 km of beam pipe has been NEG coated. In this work, a DC magnetron sputtering system dedicated for coating cylindrical vacuum chambers with NEG has been assembled, installed and commissioned. The system has been used to do NEG depositions on inner walls of vacuum chambers. The vacuum performance of the coating has been measured in terms of pumping speed, electron stimulated desorption and activation temperature. In addition, the thin film composition and morphology has been investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The work has resulted in an operational DC magnetron sputtering system, which can be used for further studies of NEG materials and compositions.

capacidades din?micas. Ultimamente, os estudiosos reconhecem capacidades din?micas
gerenciais.

dynamic capabilities. Lately, scholars acknowledge dynamic managerial capabilities. We
here explore that dynamic capability is not a matter of typology. It is about uniqueness. We
suggest that dynamic capability serves both individual and firm levels and that it is visible
when it plays a role in mediating individual and firm relationship. We define the individual
as the business pioneer, who act as the entrepreneur, manager, and leader while performing
firm?s history since its ideation, passing through different business transformations. We
define the firm as a transient system, intentionally resource-articulated to achieve higher
business purpose through the relationship it establishes with the environment. We conducted
a biographical narrative investigation, combined with a series of interviews with key
scholars, and qualitative analysis of three biographical narrative reconstructions where we
came up with facts to suggest that dynamic capabilities can only really exist "in action",
while individual and firm relationship develop as a living state of strategic adjustment.

Business process configuration with NFRs and contextavarenessSANTOS, Emanuel Batista dos 10 May 2013 (has links)
Business process models are an important source of information for the development
of information systems. However, changes in the environment can
a ect the way business processes are performed. In order to obtain models
that re
ect the changes it is necessary to continuously check between model
and reality.
Good business processes need to be up-to-date and automated to represent
the organizational environment. Thus, it is of paramount importance
to represent adequately variability in Business Process Models. Representing
and con guring business processes variability for a speci c organization
allows the proper execution of processes. In addition, dynamic environment
calls for
exible con guration processes that can meet stakeholders' goals.
However, selecting a con guration for business process is a challenging activity.
Even though current approaches allow the representation of variability of
business process models, the selection of business variants in a given context
remains a challenging issue.
In this proposal, we advocate the use of Non-Functional Requirements
(NFR) and context-awareness information to drive the con guration of process
models at run-time. We propose a model-driven business process con-
guration approach called Business process Variability Con guration with
Contexts and NFRs (BVCCoN), approach that keeps the variability representation,
con guration knowledge and contextual information separated
from the business process models. We illustrate the BVCCoN model and
process through examples. The evaluation of our proposal is based on a
simulation assessment. / Submitted by João Arthur Martins (joao.arthur@ufpe.br) on 2015-03-12T18:46:21Z

Previous issue date: 2017-08-28 / The objective of this study is to investigate how the processes of collective intelligence
can contribute to support the risk management of a financial institution, in the context
of digital business. For the theoretical foundation of this objective, the research was
made to access the publications on the topics of strategic intelligence, collective
intelligence, digital business and risk management in financial institutions. This
research was made through qualitative approaches, through documentary sources
focused on risk management processes in financial institutions and digital, and
quantitative, made through a questionnaire applied to employees assigned to agencies
of a financial institution that attend in the Digital model. It was observed that these
employees feel responsible for the risk management process coming from digital
businesses and want to contribute actively with this process. They identify that the
fraud event and external theft of operational risk is primarily responsible for the losses
resulting from the implementation of the digital business model in financial
institutions. The results showed the need for improvements in the risk management
process of financial institutions to deal with the risks arising from the changes brought
about by the digital business. In order to treat these improvements, a framework was
proposed to build a collective intelligence in the scope of risk management of a
financial institution. / O objetivo deste estudo ?? investigar como os processos de intelig??ncia coletiva podem

Previous issue date: 2018-08-31 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Companies need to review their Business Models (BM) over time to remain competitive. Technological changes and outsourcing have made the market even more dynamic, requiring organizations to reinvent themselves and innovate. Business Model analysis allows companies to reflect about their current configurations, compare it with those adopted by competitors, innovate and instantiate future BMs. The Activity System (AS) perspective is an inter-relational array of activities that together build a Value Proposition. The literature review shows the absence of a systemic method for BM analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide a method for BM analysis in AS perspective. Design Science Research was used to propose the method through the analysis of four companies, from two different sectors, with different configurations. The proposed method has three pillars: Dimension Analysis, Business Model Representation and Competitiveness Analysis. The main contribution of this research adds to the field of Business Models, through a prescriptive method for analysis using the perspective of the Activity System, relying on empirical research. Furthermore, executives of organizations and consultants can use this method as a pragmatic instrument to deepen their understanding of Business Models, instantiate future models or reinvent them. Moreover, this analysis process has a formative value to organizational strategists, since the strategic review in BM develops its capability of systemic and reflective vision. Pick-Up lines: To Use a Neg or a Flippant?Hendon, Adrienne Leigh 05 May 2012 (has links)
Pick-up lines are a "ritual that tries to turn strangers into lovers" (Murray, 1985, p.17). By studying how pick-up lines are perceived by the population, we might learn how the phenomenon of short- or long-term mating is initiated. By taking into account mating strategies, mate value, attractiveness, and flirting strategies, a pattern of behaviors and reactions may be observed. This study examines perceived pick-up line appropriateness and effectiveness when the attractiveness of the man delivering them varies. To test the effectiveness of 2 different types of pick-up lines, an online survey featuring 1 of 4 videos was administered. Results indicated that a humorous pick-up line was perceived as more effective and favorable than a slightly insulting one. An attractive man was perceived to be more communicatively competent than an unattractive man. Men, regardless of attractiveness, were perceived as more socially attractive when using a humorous pick-up line.
