Objective: To assess the association between mental health with adequate fruits and vegetables consumption. Method: This is a population based cross-sectional with a representative sample of 1,100 adult subjects living in the urban area of a medium size city in Souther Brazil. The adequate fruits and vegetables ́ intake was evaluated through two questions: one asking the quantity of fruit or fresh natural juice ingested on a daily basis; the other asking the number of soup spoons of vegetables consumed in a day. It was considered as an adequate intake the ingestion of three or more portions of fruit and of five or more soup spoons of vegetables. The main exposures were self-reported nervousness/stress and minor psychiatric disorders (MPD). In order to provide an estimation of the unadjusted and adjusted prevalence ratios (PR) Poisson regression was used. Potential confounding factors were demographic, socioeconomic and behavioral. Results: When the full sample was analyzed, a significant association between the nervousness/stress self-awareness and minor psychiatric disturbances was found. After controlling for the confounding factors, adults reporting absence were 2 times more likely to have the appropriate daily fruits and vegetables intake than those reporting presence of stressfull/nervous estates (PR=1,99; CI95% 1,17-3,37; p=0,010). In the same way, subjects not reporting mental disorders had a prevalence of adequate intake FVL 52% higher compared to those who had MPD (PR=1,52; CI95% 1,10-2,10; p=0,016). When stratified by gender, this effect was kept and increased in women. However, it lost its effect and statistical significance among men. Conclusion: The results suggests that the mental health may have an important role in the adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, especially among women.

The subject of the study was improvisation and improvisational teaching in relation to the concept of Music Performance Anxiety (MPA) and possible connections between them. MPA is most easily described as feelings of anxiety in connection with playing music. The purpose of the study was to explore Music Performance Anxiety from a jazz musician's perspective. Is it possible to feel performance anxiety in a context where it is not really possible to "play wrong"? Comparisons with classical music therefore become relevant. A further purpose was to find tools to be able to draw attention to and help students with MPA in ensemble teaching with a focus on improvisation. What methods and materials do the educators use? In the study, a qualitative method was chosen, based on research interviews with three different musicians and educators in improvisation. It was supplemented by exploring existing literature in improvisation and MPA. The results of the study show that all informants had great experiences and personal experiences of both improvisation and MPA as well as connections between them and that MPA is a common phenomenon not only in art music but also among jazz musicians. The results also show that MPA is presented as somewhat less common among jazz musicians than among classical musicians. There is a reservation in jazz culture against showing signs of weaknesses such as nervousness and performance anxiety. Hopefully, the study can help to raise the topic of MPA in jazz and popular music, as it has not previously been so researched in these genres. A further aspiration is to draw the attention of music educators to how they can help students who experience difficulties in improvisational teaching.

This study examines how singing teachers experience students' nervousness and performance anxiety, what physical and intellectual tools they use to work with it and how they have learned to deal with students' nervousness and performance anxiety. The profession of a vocal coach is a socio-cultural profession – they learn from each other, from their students and through individual studies and education. This study consists of three semi-structured interviews and two exploratory interviews. Qualitative interviews were chosen as method to be able to take part in informants' experiences and knowledge of the subject in a deeper way. Sociocultural perspective was applied as a theoretical angle. What can be deduced from the results is that vocal coaches work with students' performance anxiety and nervousness continuously. The interviewed experienced that there has not been much talk about the subject during their education, but that they themselves have found different ways and strategies to help students with these challenges. The result shows that visualization, the use of metaphors, bodily exercises, involvement of students in concert preparation, "tricking" students into learning, creating a calm, safe and humorous environment, de-dramatization, dialogue with students and self-reflection are used by vocal coaches as tools to handle students' performance anxiety and nervousness

Linearization-Based Strategies for Optimal Scheduling of a Hydroelectric Power Plant Under Uncertainty / Linearization-Based Scheduling of Hydropower SystemsTikk, Alexander January 2019 (has links)
This thesis examines the optimal scheduling of a hydroelectric power plant with cascaded reservoirs each with multiple generating units under uncertainty after testing three linearization methods. These linearization methods are Successive Linear Programming, Piecewise Linear Approximations, and a Hybrid of the two together. There are two goals of this work. The first goal of this work aims to replace the nonconvex mixed-integer nonlinear program (MINLP) with a computationally efficient linearized mixed-integer linear program (MILP) that will be capable of finding a high quality solution, preferably the global optimum. The second goal is to implement a stochastic approach on the linearized method in a pseudo-rolling horizon method which keeps the ending time step fixed. Overall, the Hybrid method proved to be a viable replacement and performs well in the pseudo-rolling horizon tests. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc)

Today, many production systems are managed in "pull" control system and used "card-based" methods such as: Kanban, ConWIP, COBACABANA, etc. Despite their simplicity and efficiency, these methods are not suitable when production is not stable and customer demand varies. In such cases, the production systems must therefore adapt the “tightness” of their production flow throughout the manufacturing process. To do this, we must determine how to dynamically adjust the number of cards (or e-card) depending on the context. Unfortunately, these decisions are complex and difficult to make in real time. In addition, in some cases, changing too often the number of kanban cards can disrupt production and cause a nervousness problem. The opportunities offered by Industry 4.0 can be exploited to define smart flow control strategies to dynamically adapt this number of kanban cards. In this thesis, we propose, firstly, an adaptive approach based on simulation and multi-objective optimization technique, able to take into account the problem of nervousness and to decide autonomously (or to help managers) when and where adding or removing Kanban cards. Then, we propose a new adaptive and intelligent approach based on a neural network whose learning is first realized offline using a twin digital model (simulation) and exploited by a multi-objective optimization method. Then, the neural network could be able to decide in real time, when and at which manufacturing stage it is relevant to change the number of kanban cards. Comparisons made with the best methods published in the literature show better results with less frequent changes.
