Barbosa Neto, Antonio Marinho, 1989- 27 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Antonio Carlos Bannwart / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica e Instituto de Geociências / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-27T04:22:37Z (GMT). There is a great deal of interest in the oil industry in computational thermodynamic packages able to predict the phase behavior of such mixtures, from the reservoir, production, transportation until the oil processing and refining. In this sense, a computational tool that accurately predicts thermodynamic properties using phase equilibrium calculations have an important role in designing applications and field operations. Cubic equations of state have been widely used to predict the phase behavior and bulk properties of petroleum fluids due to its simplicity and high computational performance. This study focused on developing a PVT compositional simulator, easy to use, able to assess the bulk properties and phase behavior of petroleum fluids at different operating conditions (P, T) from the modeling of the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) and the vapor-liquid-liquid equilibrium (VLLE). The computational tool was developed in Visual Basic Applications (VBA) programming language, with a graphic interface built in Excel. The program, named PVTpetro, consists in three basic computational modules and their auxiliary functions. The isothermal two phase flash (P, T) module calculation to hydrocarbon mixtures consists of VLE for multi-component oil-gas systems. The isothermal three phase flash (P, T) module calculation evaluates oil, water and gas (OWG) systems. Lastly, the bulk properties of petroleum fluids calculation module calculates the molecular weight, the volume and density of the system phases. The tool has been validated through the comparison between the results of commercial thermodynamic packages (Wimprop, Hysys, COMThermo) with the developed program. The results were evaluated by the relative deviation calculation between these commercial software and PVTpetro results. For the isothermal two-phase flash (P, T) calculation module were observed deviations below 1% for Wimprop and Hysys results. For the isothermal three phase flash (P, T) calculation module the deviations were about 0 and 5% for Hysys and COMThermo. For the bulk properties calculation module the results by PVTpetro and Hysys showed a good agreement in all investigated conditions, ensuring the PVTpetro reliability / Mestrado / Explotação / Mestre em Ciências e Engenharia de Petróleo

"Democracy at Work" Politische Verfahren als Aushandlungsort von Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit

Kütt, Kristina 07 December 2020 (has links)
By analyzing two court cases, this dissertation examines the perceived crisis of Democracy in the late 1960s in the United States and the reactions of state institutions to the attack by political violence. Both trials against icons of the Black Power movement, People v. Huey Newton in 1968, People v. Angela Davis beginning in 1970, became a focal point of the overall social debate on justice and basic democratic rights. An analysis of the interaction of all of the protagonists involved in court, the narratives that were brought forward in the courtroom and in the press, and the defendants' solidarity committees reveal a performative reconstruction of the American rule of law and American democracy. This was negotiated under concepts such as the "fair trial" and the relationship between African-American citizens and the police and the ability of the criminal justice system to guarantee justice for all its citizens. In the trials, the inherent racism in American society was identified as the greatest obstacle between previous legal practice and such a renegotiated understanding of justice, making visible and deconstructing the white normality of the judicial system assumed as such. In the performative re-construction and reinterpretation of the actors in court, categories such race, class, and gender shifted, allowing the Defendants to achieve self-assertion as equal legal subjects. In addition, a jury selection procedure was established that explicitly recognized bias. This development undermined the narrative and performative "threat" which had previously been publicly constructed by politicians, and a security discourse initiated by the state was not able to assert itself throughout society.

Identifikace parametrů synchronního motoru s permanentními magnety / Parameter Identification of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Veselý, Ivo January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation is to design identification methods for identifying a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The whole identification and motor control is carried out in d-q coordinates, and the program used for processing and control was the matlab simulink, together with the real time platform DSpace. The work focuses on two main areas of identification, off-line identification and on-line identification. For offline identification the frequency analysis was used with the lock rotor test to get three main parameters. They are the quadrature and direct inductances and stator resistance. In the online mode, the identified parameters were extended to magnet flux _f identified by MRAS method. The remaining parameters were again identified by frequency analysis, which was adapted into online mode, and simultaneously applied to the identification of several part in one time. The next method is Newton method, which is used for estimating stator resistance of the motor, without the need to apply any signal.

<p>Predmet istraživanja doktorske disertacije je faktorizacija polinoma dve promenljive sa celobrojnim koeficijentima pomoću njima pridruženih Newton-ovih poligona. Formalizacija potrebnog i dovoljnog uslova za postojanje netrivijalne faktorizacije polinoma dve promenljive sa celobrojnim koeficijentima omogućava konstrukciju efektivnog algoritma za faktorizaciju. Implémentation des isotopes dans un modèle hydrogéochimique couplé / Implementation of isotopes into coupled hydrogeochemical modeling

Marinoni, Marianna 03 May 2018 (has links)
The work describes the development of a reactive transport code named SpeCTr (Spéciation Cinétique Transport in French). The code, able to describe isotopic fractionation, is obtained through the coupling of a transport module and a reaction module that describes the main chemical reactions (operator splitting approach). A consistent portion of the work is dedicated to the improvement of the numerical methods employed in the reaction module for solving thermodynamic equilibrium (Newton Raphson method modified with scaling and Positive Continuous Fractions) and mixed equilibrium and kinetic reactions (formulation and solution of systems of differential and differential-algebraic equations). The code was verified through the solution of different benchmarks (batch and reactive transport simulations) and applied to perform 1D, 2D and 3D simulations of laboratory experiments dedicated to calcite crystals dissolution in a column of porous medium.

Multiwavelength study of the flaring activity of the supermassive black hole Sgr A* at the center of the Milky Way / Etudes multi-longueurs d'onde de l'activité du trou noir supermassif SGR A* au centre de notre galaxie

Mossoux, Emmanuelle 29 September 2016 (has links)
Sgr A*, the closest supermassive black hole, is an extremely low luminosity black hole emitting flares in near-infrared (NIR), X-rays and radio. The goal of this Ph.D. is to study the impact of the pericenter passage of the Dusty S-cluster Object DSO/G2 close to Sgr A* on the flaring activity. I used and improved three methods for the study in X-rays: the two-steps Bayesian blocks method to detect flares with a given false detection probability, the light curve smoothing to reduce the Poisson noise and the Monte Carlo Markov chains method for the fitting of the flare spectra. I constrained the physical parameters of the flaring region for one of the three X-ray flares detected in 2011 and for three NIR/X-ray flares detected during the 2014 Feb.-Apr. multiwavelength campaign. The X-ray and NIR activity during the 2014 Feb.-Apr. is not different from those observed before the DSO/G2 pericenter passage. I computed the intrinsic flaring rate in X-rays from Sgr A* in 1999-2015 and I detected a smaller flaring activity beginning on 2013 Oct. 28. The energy saved during this time period could explain the largest activity observed from 2014 Aug. 30 to Sept. 9.

Linking Geometry, Algebra and Calculus with GeoGebra

Böhm, Josef 12 April 2012 (has links)
GeoGebra is a free, open-source, and multi-platform software that combines dynamic geometry, algebra and calculus in one easy-to-use package. Students from middle-school to university can use it in classrooms and at home. In this workshop, we will introduce the features of GeoGebra with a special focus on not very common applications of a dynamic geometry program. We will inform about plans for developing training and research networks connected to GeoGebra. We can expect that at the time of the conference a spreadsheet will be integrated into GeoGebra which offers new ways teaching mathematics using the interplay between the features of a spreadsheet and the objects of dynamic geometry.

ROBUST ADAPTIVE BEAMFORMING WITH BROAD NULLS

Yudong, He, Xianghua, Yang, Jie, Zhou, Banghua, Zhou, Beibei, Shao 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2007 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Third Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 22-25, 2007 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Robust adaptive beamforming using worst-case performance optimization is developed in recent years. It had good performance against array response errors, but it cannot reject strong interferences. In this paper, we propose a scheme for robust adaptive beamforming with broad nulls to reject strong interferences. We add a quadratic constraint to suppress the power of the array response over a spatial region of the interferences. The optimal weighting vector is then obtained by minimizing the power of the array output subject to quadratic constrains on the desired signal and interferences, respectively. We derive the formulations for the optimization problem and solve it efficiently using Newton recursive algorithm. Numerical examples are presented to compare the performances of the robust adaptive beamforming with no null constrains, sharp nulls and broad nulls. The results show its powerful ability to reject strong interferences.
