O presente trabalho tem como objetivo examinar a formação do senso de justiça das pessoas sob a perspectiva da teoria de justiça da escolha social e de rankings incompletos, de Amartya Sen (2009). Pretende também investigar algumas formas de educar o cidadão para a justiça a fim de se pensar políticas públicas nas escolas que estimulem o florescimento do sentido de justiça nas pessoas. Para tanto, a teoria de justiça de Sen (2009) é apresentada e relacionada a teorias sobre a formação do indivíduo e fases críticas de seu desenvolvimento, em específico a formação de aspectos cognitivos e não cognitivos e sua interação. Ao fim, são indicados caminhos para a educação voltada para a justiça. / This study aims to examine the development of the sense of justice following Amartya Sen’s (2009) social choice and incomplete rank justice theory. Alongside this, in order to present some alternatives about public policies in schools that could encourage the flourishing of a sense of justice, a reflection about ways to educate citizens towards justice is made. To do so, Sen’s Idea of Justice is introduced and related to theories about individual development, combined with an analysis of sensitive stages of human development. Particular attention is given on the interaction of cognitive and non-cognitive abilities. At the end, some thoughts about public policies and the education system are made.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att genom en intertextuell analys identifiera vilka kopplingar som finns mellan Robinson Crusoe och Mr Foe och hur man skulle kunna använda verken i en undervisningskontext utifrån Edward W. Saïds teori om orientalism och intertextuellt perspektiv. Analysen utgår från Edward W. Saïds teori om dikotomier och hur fördomar kan accepteras som sanningar, samt Martha C. Nussbaums teori om beskrivande chauvinism och romantik. I analysen framkommer det att kopplingarna i Mr Foe främst anspelade på Crusoes romantiska bild av ön där han är härskare och Fredag är hans tjänare. Genom att diskutera Fredags olika roller i verken menar jag att man kan föra en diskussion i klassrummet där eleverna får öva sig i att se maktförhållandet i västerländsk syn på utomeuropeisk kultur.

Denna studie syftar till att, genom en komparativ ideologianalys, analysera tre valda filosofiska modeller och uttolka vilka implikationer dessa kan ha vad gäller religionsämnets syftesbeskrivning ur LGY11; att eleverna ska "förstå och leva i ett samhälle präglat av mångfald." Studien syftar inte till att argumentera för någon specifik modell. De modeller som analyserats är hämtade ur verk författade av Charles Taylor, Seyla Benhabib samt Martha Nussbaum. Analysen påvisade såväl skillnader som likheter mellan de olika modellerna. Analysen påvisade att kristendomens särställning som "förvaltare av den svenska värdegrunden" kan vara en problematisk aspekt av läroplanen då kristendomen kan tas som neutral, objektiv eller tolkas som innehållande en "god" essentiell kärna. Ett annat resultat vilket uttolkades av de analyserade modellerna var att förståelse för de andra, måste föregås av en kritisk granskning av, eller medvetenhet om, den egna utgångspunkten. Detta tolkades som ytterst relevant i en religionsundervisning vilken syftar till att uppnå förståelse för mångfald

Le présent travail propose une réflexion sur l'aspect social des émotions par l'entremise d'un examen de la dimension conflictuelle de 3 émotions: le désir, la honte et le dégoût. L'aspect problématique de ces émotions se situe au niveau de leur hypertrophie, en ce qu'elle encourage une emphase sur le soi, sur l'autosuffisance et la toute-puissance de l'individu, ce qui se traduit par des répercussions interpersonnelles, notamment la réduction marquée de la diversité des relations humaines qu'entretient l'individu avec les autres, et intrapersonnelles, particulièrement la narcotisation de l'identité individuelle. Cette réflexion est animée par la pensée de 3 principaux auteurs: celle de René Girard et de Martha C. Nussbaum afin d'explorer, pour chaque émotion, les implications de leur hypertrophie chez l'individu, puis de l'incidence du contexte social sur l'hypertrophie de ces émotions; celle d'Hannah Arendt afin de mieux comprendre la dynamique des relations humaines et comme palliatif à ces répercussions interpersonnelles et intrapersonnelles.

Essän handlar framför allt om tre teman, förutom själva sakfrågan om huruvida jag ska läsa till präst eller inte. Det första jag tänker på är att den har handlat om att vi alla är berättelser och att även Bibeln är berättelser och att det finns lika många ingångar att läsa dessa texter som det finns vinklar att närma sig vad en människa är. Det andra är tilliten och känslan av att vara buren och där tänker jag att det handlar om att lita på att vi i grunden är goda, att världen vill oss väl, när vi låter livet hända oss och när vi känner oss älskade och trygga. När vi kan säga nej kan vi säga ja. Och att vi behöver vara i den sortens trygghet för att kunna älska. Och det tredje jag tänker att det har handlat om är mitt möte med mig själv. Hannah Arendt talar om att vara två-i-en. Och det har givit mig otroligt mycket att möta mig själv på det här sättet. Som att jag förstått att jag kan leda mig själv, att jag kan ha en verklig dialog med mig själv.Det har framför allt handlat om vikten av process, om att få tvivla och få reflektera och att i det uppstår något som är lugnt. Lugnare.”Ibland måste man dra ut ett uttryck ur språket, lämna in det till rengöring, - och sedan kan man igen sätta det i omlopp.”  Och ett sådant uttryck är ”reflektion”.

The free exercise of religion as a basic human right is considered essential by those who are concerned about protecting and maintaining each person?s capability to live a good life. Unfortunately, in protecting this right the fundamental rights of women are often violated or overlooked. In order to grant religious freedom, liberal states often permit discriminatory and oppressive practices. Martha Nussbaum maintains that a balance must be struck between the protection of individual rights and the protection of religious freedom. She suggests the liberal state should not take a stand on disputed non-political issues concerning the good. The state should adopt political liberalism, thereby refraining from espousing religious or other ?comprehensive? views such as the view that men and women are innate moral equals. By doing so, Nussbaum says the political liberal state shows full respect for its citizens, and protects their ability to lead a good life. This thesis presents the argument that the liberal state need not, and should not, go as far as political liberalism in order to protect and show full respect for its citizens. Although the state should not pressure or force religious groups to change their doctrines to fall in line with liberal principles, the state may assert the truth of some non-political liberal values that are essential to maintaining the liberal political system. Political liberalism ties the hands of the liberal state, leaving it handicapped in its ability to protect individual rights, especially the rights of women and minorities. / Master of Arts

Denna uppsats behandlar särskiljningen mellan mänskliga och ickemänskliga djur i rättighetshänseende. Mitt syfte är att utifrån en värdegrund baserat i mänskliga rättigheter och frågeställningarna ”Kan en särskiljning mellan mänskliga och ickemänskliga djur berättigas i rättighetshänseende?” och ”Varför förnekas ickemänskliga djur rätten till liv?” ifrågasätta varför rätten till liv förnekas ickemänskliga djur. Min tes är att andra djur har rätt till liv och tanken är att genom att belysa den antropocentriska världsbilden som präglar samhället synliggöra vad som sammanbinder förtryck mot människor och förtryck riktat mot andra djur. Jag utgår från de juridiska och politiska instrument som berör vårt förhållande till andra djur för att fastslå gällande rätt. Det följs av en analys av moralfilosofiska teorier i vilka andra djur tas i beräkning och där jag ifrågasätter hur väl utilitarismen och särskilt då Peter Singer kan leva upp till att vara en djurrättsförespråkare. Jag avslutar med att konstatera att för att komma till bukt med övergrepp som sker mot människan såväl som mot andra djur måste sambandet mellan förtrycket mot människor och andra djur tydliggöras och få ett erkännande. / This essay examines the basis of the distinction between human and non-human animals when it comes to considering the claim of rights. My purpose is to question why the right to life is denied non-human animals with the basis in values that human rights is founded on and the questions “Is a distinction between human and non-human animals justified when it comes to considering the claim of rights?” and “Why is non-human animals denied the right to life?”. My thesis is that non-human animals have the right to life. I intend to show the connection between oppression against human and non-human animals by illuminating the anthropocentric conception of the world that characterize our society today. I begin with settling what law and politics says about our relationship to non-human animals by examining relevant documents. Then there is an analysis of ethical theories which is considering non-human life where I question how well utilitarianism and especially Peter Singer function as a animal rights advocate. I finish with a conclusion about our need to recognize the connection between oppression against human and non-human animals to come to end with all oppression.

Yes / An adaptive iterative learning control(ILC) approach is proposed for a class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) uncertain nonlinear systems without prior knowledge about system control gain matrices. The Nussbaum-type gain and the positive definite discrete matrix kernel are proposed for dealing with selection of the unknown control gain and learning of the repeatable uncertainties, respectively. Asymptotic convergence for a trajectory tracking within a finite time interval is achieved through repetitive tracking. Simulations are carried out to show the validity of the proposed control method.

Yes / The lake-dwellings of the Circum-Alpine region have long been a rich source of detailed information about daily life in Bronze Age Europe, but their location made them vulnerable to changes in climate and lake level. At several Late Bronze Age examples, skulls of children were found at the edge of the lake settlement, close to the encircling palisade. Several of the children had suffered violent deaths, through blows to the head from axes or blunt instruments. They do not appear to have been human sacrifices, but the skulls may nonetheless have been offerings to the gods by communities faced with the threat of environmental change. / Swiss National Science Foundation
