Paměť a čas v Augustinových Vyznáních a v Proustově Hledání ztraceného času / Memory and Time in Augustine's Confessiones and in Proust's A la Recherche du Temps Perdu

Roreitnerová, Alena January 2018 (has links)
This presented paper is a parallel reading of two works which both connect a philosophical perception of time and memory with an actual narration. The first is one of the earliest spiritual autobiographies of late antiquity - Confessions - and the second is a modern novel - In Search of Lost Time. A distinctive (originally Neoplatonic) understanding of eternity as simultaneity opens a line of questioning which both Confessions and In Search of Lost Time have in common: What is the relation between time and eternity (extra-temporality in Proust's case) and is it possible at all for a time being to have a relation to something what is eternal? In both works, the mediating role between time succession and timeless simultaneity is played by narration and memory. Part I of the paper (Chapter 1) deals with Augustine's understanding of time which can be found not only in Book XI of Confessions but also throughout the whole work including its narrative passages; it also partly takes into consideration Book VI of De musica. It tries to answer a more general question, i.e. whether Augustine in his autobiography concentrates only on subjective time or whether he is interested in time as such (in contrast to eternity). The answer is intended to be found through the analysis of questions the author of...

Analyse d’atteignabilité de systèmes max-plus incertains / Reachability Analysis of Uncertain Max Plus Linear Systems

Ferreira Cândido, Renato Markele 23 June 2017 (has links)
Linear equations in themax-plus algebra can be used to describe DEDS subjected to synchronization and time delayphenomena. The reachability analysis concerns the computation of all states that can bereached by a dynamical system from an initial set of states. The reachability analysis problemof Max Plus Linear (MPL) systems has been properly solved by characterizing the MPLsystems as a combination of Piece-Wise Affine (PWA) systems and then representing eachcomponent of the PWA system as Difference-Bound Matrices (DBM). The main contributionof this thesis is to present a similar procedure to solve the reachability analysis problemof MPL systems subjected to bounded noise, disturbances and/or modeling errors, calleduncertain MPL (uMPL) systems. First, we present a procedure to partition the state spaceof an uMPL system into components that can be completely represented by DBM. Then weextend the reachability analysis of MPL systems to uMPL systems. Moreover, the results onreachability analysis of uMPL systems are used to solve the conditional reachability problem, which is closely related to the support calculation of the probability density function involvedin the stochastic filtering problem.

Reduced Order Modeling for Smart Grids’ Simulation and Optimization / Modélisation à ordre réduit pour la simulation et l'optimisation des réseaux intelligents

Malik, Muhammad Haris 28 February 2017 (has links)
This thesis presents the study of the model order reduction for power grids and transmission networks. The specific focus has been the transient dynamics. A mathematical viewpoint has been adopted for model reduction. Power networks are huge and complex network, simulation for power grid analysis and design require large non-linearmodels to be solved. In the context of developing “SmartGrids” with the distributed generation of power, real time analysis of complex systems such as these needs fast, reliable and accurate models. In the current study we propose model order reduction methods both a-priori and aposteriori suitable for dynamic models of power grids. The model that describes the transient dynamics of the power grids is complex non-linear swing dynamics model. The non-linearity of the swing dynamics model necessitates special attention to achieve maximum benefit from the model order reduction techniques. In the current research, POD and LATIN methods were applied initially with varying degrees of success. The method of TPWL has been proved as the best-suited model reduction method for swing dynamics model ; this method combines POD with multiple linear approximations. For the transmission lines, a distributed parameters model infrequency-domain is used. PGD based reduced-order models are proposed for the DP model of transmission lines. A fully parametric problem with electrical parameters of transmission lines included as coordinates of the separated representation. The method was extended to present the solution of frequency-dependent parameters model for transmission lines.

What is the ART of ADHD SoMe Acting : and how is it artistically relevant for everyone to know?

Lindman, Alexander January 2023 (has links)
During my master program in acting 2021-23 at Stockholm University of the Arts I coined the term deneurotypicalize and a definition of art as ART to guide my now and future work of trying to deneurotypicalize acting technique and understand what the ART of the SoMe Actor might be and do and and if there is or should be a difference between a neurotypical and neurodiverse way of applying oneself and communicate with said audience on said platform(s)? This all resulted in over 150 pages of written words, and a great deal more written documentation; a performance lecture on the 2nd of May 2023 with a Q&amp;A, several short films and Social Media interactions, 3 Surveys about ADHD-acting and art, 3 events on Scenkonstbiennalen (2022); and this master thesis and a research catalogue page with a more general documentation, too. ADHD, ART, Social Media and acting is more connected than I first realised, maybe because ADHD-actors have an affinity for ARTing which can be, and not be, an asset during ARTistic-processes. Lots of further research is needed, and in larger quantities. The ADHD relation to the arts might seem obvious because the out of the box thinking, hyperfocus, hyperfixation and only being able to follow your strongest passions and interests but it can also be because the rest of the society isn’t built for ARTing or ADHD-people which makes the field of arts so alluring. And maybe more often than we’d like to admit: also a very all consuming — especially if all the ARTistic-processes are based upon neurotypical standards — energy draining (and worst case scenario a death) trap. / <p>Since this is an artistic work there was an IRL examination of my performance lecture on the second of May 2023 and also an examination of this master thesis of 127 pages on the 26th of May 2023 that both were passed by Ulrika Malmgren. And, also a research catalouge page https://www.researchcatalogue.net/view/1398260/1398261 that will be published at the same time as this thesis: all three is a part of Alexander Lindman's IDP at Stockholm University of the Arts.
