Costruire il ruolo del PRIVATE BANKER: indagini e proposte operative

Obiettivo del presente lavoro è identificare le principali connotazioni specifiche della professione di private banker. In seguito ad una prima analisi della genesi del ruolo e dei fattori che ne hanno determinato l’evoluzione nel tempo, si sono indagati: quali mansioni e responsabilità ricopre e quali riporti gerarchici è chiamato a rispettare, quali caratteristiche comportamentali e attitudinali siano distintive del ruolo, quale il livello di competenze necessario al suo esercizio e quali i gap formativi ancora da colmare. Non da ultime, sono state rilevate le difficoltà quotidiane e le fonti di soddisfazione tipiche della professione, nonché gli strumenti motivazionali e di incentivazione utilizzati dalle realtà di private banking. L’indagine è stata condotta attraverso l’analisi congiunta di più progetti di ricerca quali-quantitativi, che hanno visto il coinvolgimento di private banker e opinion leader di settore. Emerge così una figura professionale ancora in divenire per effetto di cambiamenti strutturali del mercato, oggi guidati dal nuovo contesto normativo, dalla crisi finanziaria e dal processo di globalizzazione continua. / The aim of this paper is to identify the main aspects of the private banking profession. Following a preliminary analysis of its origins and the factors that led to its evolution over recent years, this research investigates main tasks and duties of a private banker, his position in the organizational chart of the company, behavioural and attitudinal characteristics relevant to his role, required level of skills and expertise, as well as knowledge gaps still to be filled. A special focus has been put on his daily difficulties and typical sources of satisfaction, in addition to motivational tools and incentives used by private banking organizations. The survey has been conducted by means of a combined analysis of various qualitative and quantitative research projects, involving both private bankers and opinion leaders within the banking sector. The emerging scenario is an evolving professional role as a result of current structural changes in the business, constantly subjected to new regulations, recurring financial crisis and the continuous globalization process.

Information visualization as an interactive business intelligence tool for improved management and self-assessment of financial brokers in private banking

With an increase in storage capacity, many organizations strive to collect as much data as possible. The data can then be aggregated and visualized in order to provide a strategic advantage, commonly referred to as Business Intelligence (BI). Several sectors are contemporarily unfamiliar with the full potential of BI visualizations, among them the financial sector.In this report, an experimental design-oriented research study, set out to explore the affordances and challenges with designing an information visualization to improve both management and self-assessment of financial brokers in private banking at a large-scale bank.To explore this area, a prototype was iteratively developed based on information gathered from interviews and evaluations on two private banking managers and a panel of UX professionals at the bank. The final prototype was then evaluated by the two managers and five of their financial brokers through a combination of a task analysis and semi-structured interviews. The results concluded that the proposed visualization improved several aspects for financial management including business overview and workload balancing. However, the proposed tool was not deemed useful in self-assessment terms as financial brokers’ performance is so largely dependent on the current market state. / Tack vare den ständigt ökande lagringskapaciteten så strävar idag många organisationer efter att samla på sig så mycket data som möjligt om sin verksamhet. Denna data kan sedan aggregeras och visualiseras för att förbättra företagets strategi, vilket kallas Business Intelligence (BI). Idag känner en del verksamheter inte till den sanna potentialen av informationsvisualisering inom BI, däribland äldre banker.Denna rapport är en experimentell, design-orienterad forskningsstudie med syftet att utforska möjligheterna och utmaningarna med att designa en informationsvisualisering för att förbättra både management och själv-utvärdering av börsmäklare inom private banking, på en storskalig, svensk bank.För att utforska detta område så utvecklades en prototyp iterativt, baserat på information som löpande samlats under semi-strukturerade intervjuer och utvärderingar. Prototypen utvärderades slutligen av två chefer och fem av deras anställda börsmäklare genom en kombination av task analysis och semi-strukturerade intervjuer. Resultaten visar att den föreslagna visualiseringen förbättrade ett flertal aspekter inom finansiellt management, bl.a verksamhetsöverblick och balansering av arbetsbörda. Den föreslagna prototypen var dock inte användbar sett till själv-utvärdering eftersom börsmäklares prestationer är så starkt kopplat till marknadens dagliga skick.

Using a unique data set provided by a local fund manager and using a regression model with fixed effects, evidences were found of a positive and statistically significant relationship between past performance and fund flows. In addition, in the most important contribution of this study, it was found that investors with origin in different segments are likely to differ in their behavior while investing in the same funds. The evaluated segments were Institutional, Private Banking, Corporate, External Distribution and Fund of Funds. More sophisticated clients showed a weaker tendency to chase past performance. / Neste trabalho foi estudada a relação entre o desempenho passado e a captação em fundos de investimento no Brasil. A partir de informações contidas em uma base de dados disponibilizada por uma gestora de recursos local e utilizando um modelo de regressão com efeitos fixos, foram encontrados indícios de relação positiva e estatisticamente significativa entre desempenho passado e captação. Adicionalmente, na análise que representa a principal contribuição deste trabalho, foi verificado que existem diferenças significativas no comportamento de investidores de diferentes segmentos que sejam cotistas dos mesmos fundos mútuos. Os segmentos analisados foram o Institucional, Private Banking, Corporate, Distribuidores e Fundo de Fundos. Investidores tidos como mais sofisticados se mostraram menos orientados pelo desempenho histórico em suas decisões de alocação.

Riskprofilering inom förmögenhetsrådgivning och privatrådgivning : En studie inom banksektorn

Sveriges största banker erbjuder både förmögenhetsrådgivning och privatrådgivning till sina kunder. Förmögenhetsrådgivare ger råd till bankkunder som innehar ett stort kapital, där storleken varierar från bank till bank, medan privatrådgivare ger råd till kunder som inte kvalificeras som förmögenhetskunder. Det som både förmögenhetsrådgivare och privatrådgivare har gemensamt är skapandet av kundernas riskprofiler som görs innan finansiella råd ges. De väsentliga påverkansfaktorerna i denna uppsats är reglering, styrsystem, kundens demografiska attribut, professionalism samt rådgivaren som individ. Det har tidigare studerats hur olika faktorer kan tänkas påverka generell risksättning men då har jämförelsen mellan förmögenhetsrådgivning och privatrådgivning inte tagits i bejakande. Syftet med denna uppsats är hur de olika faktorerna kan tänkas påverka den riskprofil som fastställs inom förmögenhetsrådgivning i jämförelse med privatrådgivning. Två hypoteser har konstruerats utifrån uppsatsens syfte och de teorier som är inkluderade. I denna uppsats används ett positivistiskt synsätt och en deduktiv ansats, där data har samlats in med hjälp av en enkätundersökning för att undersöka studiens syfte. Resultatet kan inte påvisa att faktorerna påverkar den riskprofilering som de finansiella rådgivarna fastställer och därför gick inte hypoteserna att acceptera. En antydan finns dock i att förmögenhetsrådgivare har högre precision i att fastställa kundens risktolerans. En annan antydan är att förmögenhetsrådgivare överskattar kundens risktolerans. Slutsatsen visar att forskningen ger en antydan till att rådgivarens professionalitet samt rådgivaren som individ påverkar den riskprofilering som förmögenhetsrådgivarna och privatrådgivarna sätter på kunden. Slutligen bidrar studien till en diskussion om skillnader mellan förmögenhetsrådgivare och privatrådgivare när de fastställer kundens risktolerans. Idén i denna studie har därmed bidragit till nya tankar gällande uppsatsens koncept. / Sweden's largest banks offer financial advice regarding the customer’s wealth. Wealth management advises bank customers who hold large capital where the size varies between the banks. Private advisers provide consulting to bank customers who do not qualify for wealth management. What both wealth managers and private advisors have in common is the creation of customer risk profiles that are made before any financial advice is given. The key impact factors in this paper are regulation, control systems, customer demographic attributes, professionalism and the advisor as an individual. It has previously been studied how different factors may affect general risk setting but not focusing on the professions of wealth managers and private advisors and the comparison between them. The purpose of this paper is how the various factors may affect the risk profile from wealth management in comparison to private advising. Two hypotheses have been constructed from the purpose of this paper and the theory’s that are included. This essay uses a positivistic approach and a deductive approach, in which data has been gathered through a questionnaire survey for studying the purpose of this paper. The result cannot show that the factors affect the risk profile set by the financial advisors and the hypotheses where therefore rejected. However, there is an indication that wealth managers have higher precision in determining the client's risk tolerance. Another indication is also that wealth managers overestimate the client's risk tolerance compared to private advisors. The research conclusions indicate that the advisor's professionalism and the adviser as an individual influence the risk profile that wealth managers and private advisor’s determents for the customers. Finally, the study contributes to a discussion of differences between wealth managers and private advisors when they determent the customers risk profile. The idea of this study has contributed to new thoughts about the essay concepts.

Genom att använda ramverk som Relationsmarknadsföring, teknikacceptansmodellen och kundupplevelsehantering, undersöks integrationen och effekten av digitala verktyg på kundrelationer och operationell effektivitet inom private banking. Forskningen, som är baserad på intervjuer med anställda inom private banking, undersöker införandet av digitala processer och belyser en trend mot operationell effektivitet, men visar även en brist på att uppnå den djupgående personalisering som är karaktäristisk inom private banking. Sang ombilical et placentaire : enjeux juridiques propres au consentement et au droit de propriété

Le sang de cordon ombilical et placentaire constitue aujourd’hui une ressource biologique prisée puisqu’il contient des cellules souches et un haut taux d’hémoglobine utilisées lors de traitements thérapeutiques. Considérant les applications actuelles et celles envisagées dans le futur, le sang de cordon peut être mis en banque privée pour un usage autologue ou familiale. Il peut également être donné à une banque publique pour des greffes allogéniques ou pour la recherche. Bien qu’inévitablement séparé du corps humain au moment de la naissance de chaque enfant, ce sang n’est pas considéré comme un déchet d’aucune valeur et un consentement doit être obtenu avant tout prélèvement et toute utilisation. Ce mémoire présente une revue empirique de la pratique de mise en banque canadienne. Cette analyse révèle que les banques s’assurent d’obtenir un consentement préalable à la collecte, à l’entreposage et à l’utilisation du sang de cordon, sans toutefois que l’origine de ce consentement soit uniforme. Elle permet également de constater que les acteurs impliqués dans la mise en banque semblent considérer le sang de cordon comme un bien susceptible d’appropriation. Ce mémoire aborde ainsi la question de savoir qui, de la mère ou de l’enfant, doit consentir à ce que le sang de cordon soit d’abord prélevé pour ensuite être mis en banque. Il traite également de la propriété de ce sang une fois séparé du corps humain et des contraintes juridiques encadrant son aliénation. Il suggère au final certains aménagements pour l’utilisation du sang de cordon en recherche de même qu’une uniformisation des règles d’entreposage privé. / The umbilical and placental cord blood is now a prized biological resource as it contains stem cells and high hemoglobin level used in therapeutic treatments. Considering the current applications and those envisaged in the future, cord blood can be secured in private banking for autologous or family use. It can also be given to a public bank for allogeneic transplants or research. Cord blood should not be considered as a human waste without value, even if it is inevitably produced at the time of birth of each child. Consent must be obtained before any withdrawal and use. This study presents an empirical review of Canadian cord blood banking practice. This analysis reveals that banks do obtain prior consent to the collection, storage and use of cord blood. However, the source of this consent differs. It also shows that the actors involved in the banking process consider cord blood as a movable property that can be transferred to one another. This study addresses the question of who, between the mother and the child, should consent to cord blood collection and storage. It deals with blood’s ownership once separated from the human body and the legal constraints applicable to its alienation and use. It also suggests modifications to the legal framework for cord blood research as well as a standardization of private storage rules.
