Kvalitetsutmaningar i produktionsberedning : En grundorsaksanalys hos Siemens Energy AB / Quality challenges in production preparation

Jonasson, Sara, Karlsson, Mattias January 2024 (has links)
A successful company is characterized by shared values, a clear vision, continuous improvements and everyone’s commitment. By consistently striving to achieve and exceed needs and expectations, quality becomes a cornerstone of long term success. The study, which was conducted at Siemens Energy in Trollhättan, explored quality challenges in production preparation. The theoretical framework explores the foundation of quality. Furthermore, quality deficiency costs and tools for quality management are explored, all of which are considered essential for understanding the study and field. The initiative for the subject was taken by Siemens Energy AB who has perceived flaws in their production preparation. The purpose of the study is to minimize internal quality deficiencies that can be derived to production preparation. The goal of the study is to present a root cause analysis of the current situation. The study includes data collection, description of the current situation, and a root cause analysis with associated proposals of improvement. The methodology used is proactive quality development by Bergman and Klefsjö, which is based on TQM – Total quality management. Data collection was done from three different source types: deviation reports, measurement of disruption in production and interviews. The interviews consisted of three in-depth interviews with production manufacturing engineers and ten shorter interviews with operators. The identified quality challenges in the current situation includes, but are not limited to, errors in operation text and insufficient instructions. The root cause analysis focused on insufficient instruction and revealed several aspects of why instructions have poor quality. The two most significant reasons identified were: Instructions are difficult to understand and can be interpreted in different ways by different people and Instructions are not considered to be of great importance from a quality point of view. Considering these reasons, suggestions for improvement have been drawn up. The suggestions for improvement are summarised as follows:  Integrate knowledge and understanding of the importance of quality deficiencies in training and education in the organisation  Implement a systematic way of working that enables more efficient communication between operators, production technicians  Implement the critical moment add-on sheet in the existing instruction template / Ett framgångsrikt företag kännetecknas av gemensamma värderingar, en tydlig vision, ständiga förbättringar och allas engagemang.

Supporting production preparation during product development using production requirements

Areth Koroth, Rohith January 2023 (has links)
Product development is affected by uncertainties due to changing customer requirements, changing regulations, technological developments, long lead times, high product complexities, and geopolitical issues. Automation, increased flexibility of production, and reduced lead times are drivers that allow product development to be competitive in this scenario. Design engineers should be aware of production capabilities to facilitate early producibility assessments and to avoid late changes. Production preparation is identified as an important activity in the product development process, whereby the producibility of a product is assessed. In this thesis, the current state of production preparation during product development is investigated and a method is introduced supporting production preparation using production requirements. The work was carried out using the design research methodology framework and comprised four studies based on the four steps of the framework. The research clarification and descriptive study 1 phases aimed at developing understanding and were done by means of data collection at the companies through interviews and document studies. The next two steps were prescriptive study and descriptive study 2, which aimed at developing and evaluating the support. This was done through observation, workshops, and solution development. The production preparation process is supported by Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, failure mode and effects analysis, lesson-learnt documents, and computer-aided design, and the efficiency of the process is dependent on individual skills and knowledge. Tools to support common understanding, remove ambiguity in requirements, and enable collaboration between design and production engineers are needed. The developed method allows for the identification, definition, structuring, and sharing of production requirements, aligning with varying maturities of product and production systems during product development. This helps improve the collaboration between design and production engineers for production preparation.

Kartläggning och förslag på arbetsmetodik inom ett beredningsflöde / Mapping and workflow improvements in production preparation

Pettersson, Emil January 2019 (has links)
This report is the result of a bachelor thesis within the area of mechanical engineering, management and production at the Royal Institute of Technology. The study was conducted at the defense and security company BAE Systems Hägglunds AB in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The study has been conducted on location which has been essential for the feasibility of the study. The assignment and the goals of which it should accomplish, as well as within which boundaries has been assigned by the section for Prototype and Hulls (Swedish P & S). Set goals include mapping the fault effects which occurs when process times doesn’t match that of which has been planned and assigned for specific work orders, methods for feedback between the workshop and ERP-systemfor more accurate future processes. As well as methods for calculation of process times for all components in a batch since the first ones tend to require more time. The section of Prototype and Hulls produce and delivers hull components for all of BAE Systems Hägglunds families of vehicles. It’s necessary for the vehicles to continuously being developed due to customers’ demands for them to be able to compete on the global market. As a result the manufacturing of prototype components is essential for the company’s ability to gain customers, which is why it’s up most important to beingable to deliver prototype components for R & D rapidly. The section for Prototype and Hulls lacks standardized methods for the production preparing and planning. This results in components that are too expensive and late. In a long term this means that employees doesn’t trust the ability of the business and in some cases, develops local improvements, putting the company at risk of developing sub optimizations. The study discusses the fault effects discovered by the mapping process, which is being described as a result of not using standard methods. The study recommends BAE Systems Hägglunds to implement a standardized method towards the NC-programming where the programming is conducted before the preparer creates a work order. Since BAE Systems Hägglunds wants to calculate the required time for all componentsin a work order the study recommends intercommunication between different sections to exchange experience and work methods with each other.

Kartläggning och förbättringsförslag inom beredning samt beläggnings- och kapacitetsplanering / Mapping and improvements in production preparation, production- and capacity management

D. Wahlberg, Daniel January 2018 (has links)
This thesis project has been carried out within the Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Business Administration and Manufacturing at the Royal Institute of Technology, Department of Sustainable Production Development. The project was carried out in the spring of 2018, commissioned by BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, with the purpose of analyzing the unit of Prototype & Hulls production planning, production preparation, capacity, loading and priorities in the business. The goal by this study has been to find improvement areas and working methods for better and more effective planning. The unit of Prototype & Hull manufactures vehicle bodies for armored military vehicles and includes a development workshop capable of manufacture newly developed vehicles and market wagons. The studied department currently has problems and obvious shortages in production preparation, loading and capacity planning, where estimated operating hours from production preparation are incorrect and new loading can be planned without the previous impact assessment. The unit is also characterized by a short‐term view of its production planning and lacks standardized and unified approaches to address problems. During the project, results from interviews, observations and samples in the workshop have shown and identified several areas of improvement within the business. A couple of recommendations to address the company's problems are highlighted by the author as implementing standardized working procedures, correct queuing times for stations in the workshop, feedback from operators at machining departments to production preparation, and that the department should clearly define its capacity to meet real‐world utilization. The author's hopes with the results of this study are that recommended solutions will enable the business to achieve higher delivery reliability and utilization of capacity.

Kantová, Radka Unknown Date (has links)
This doctoral thesis focuses on noise generated during construction. It defines the legislative and physical aspects of this topic. It determines heavy machinery as noise source and categorizes them by their usage in construction technologies. It collects source data of the machinery noises which can be further used in prognostic models. It analyses the level of construction noise which can impact the nearby residential areas and offers methodology for modelling and designing the possible arrangements for the noise reduction. It defines partial effects of the construction site which are significant for the noise spreading. It establishes their role in the value of acoustic pressure level of the noise affecting the façade of the considered building. With the data collection and with case study verification it offers a prepared work tool which can be easily used to predict noise levels on construction sites and can be applied in the early constructions preparations. The structure of this thesis is planned for possible usage as university textbook or study support.
