Previous issue date: 2012-08-15 / The interest in the topic covered in this research is due to the fact that students who begin the Pedagogy Course in a private College in Minas Gerais State, have a variety of profiles, thus, some are high school graduated, others majored in teaching courses (Professional Technical) and some work as teachers in kindergarten schools yet, and teach for the first grades of elementary school. Professors of the Education Course often bring to the course coordination difficulties they face in teaching to a group that has such diversity and heterogeneity. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the social representations and expectations of academic entrants of Pedagogy about the course, featuring a variety of profiles, trying to analyze the reasons for the choice of a course in teacher training in higher education. The research was configured in a qualitative approach, involving study of case. The research tools that facilitated achieving the intended goals were: semi-structured interviews, documented analysis procedures and testimonials. Students who participated in the research were selected by their profiles, thus, high school graduated academics, graduated for teaching (Professional Technical) and those who already work as teachers in kindergarten schools and first grades of elementary school. 30 entrants were chosen, four of each academic profile who agreed to participate anonymously. Understanding the diversity of perceptions and expectations of customers should help subsidize and rethink the pedagogical project of the Pedagogy Course focused in the research.

Various Steiner SystemsRacataian, Valentin Jean 01 January 2004 (has links)
This project deals with the automorphism group G of a Steiner system S (3, 4, 10). S₁₀, the symmetrical group of degree 10, acts transitively on T, the set of all Steiner systems with parameters 3, 4, 10. The purpose of this project is to study the action of S₁₀ on cosets of G. This will be achieved by means of a graph of S₁₀ on T x T. The orbits of S₁₀ on T x T are in one-one correspondence with the orbits of G, the stabilizer of an S [e] T on T.

Introduction et diffusion du handball en France : des origines étrangères à l'affirmation nationale française (1922-2004) / Introduction and propagation of handball in France : from foreign origins to the french national emancipationCardin, Lise 24 October 2019 (has links)
Unlike the other team sports brought to France in the second half of the 19th century, handball thrived in France between the First and the Second World Wars. It has moved since then from a winter training practice to become a professional activity at the beginning of the 21st century. The objective of our research is to explain the integration and propagation processes of this sport, with geopolitical as well as technical and tactical considerations. A variety of sources have been investigated – institutional archives, testimonies of 25 stakeholders, press articles, periodicals about handball – with regards to three axis – institutional, social and cultural – ; four stages have been identified in the development of handball in France. The first phase is the importation of handball through two dissemination vectors that have different scales and paces: the sport of the working class and school sport. The Vichy government creates the FFHB, which is associated to a few Physical Education teachers that are captivated by this new activity – football played with hands in teams of 7 or 11 players. Then, when the handball is mainly played in teams of 7, its cultural representation changes: it goes from a superposition of individual technics to the need of taking into consideration teammates and opponents. This revolution is supported by the national technical direction in the 1960’s and 1970’s and is linked to the scientific thoughts in France and abroad ; meanwhile, Nelson Paillou makes handball available to the masses and structures the federal system with the objective to promote non professional handball. With the collapse of the communist bloc, federal managers and trainers choose to favour high-level sport and contribute to the first French successes. From the 1990’s, they also start developing the commercial aspect and the spectacle aspect of the sport. However, at the dawn of the 21st century, handball finally moves away from international models and follows the development of the other team sports with a more professional structure and stakeholders.

(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This thesis aims to understand and question the existence, the performance and the role played by the myth of Dionysos-Zagreus in the Orphic tradition of classical Greece, and in the eventual dramatization of these mysteries. Is this really the cardinal myth of Orphism or is it a fiction intentionally provoked by the apologetic readings of nineteenth-century scholars? Is an innovative anthropogony integrated into it or is there no evidence for such a theoretical construction? The antiquity, content and centrality of the myth have been the subject of wide debate among scholars. These debates often fit in with misleading and induced images of sources, references, methods, and research materials. While some interpreters and commentators insert its origin and, above all, its propagation, from the 5th century BCE, others, influenced by the eighteenth century and the appeals of the hypercritic, advocate the inexistence of both, myth and the doctrine of original sin, that supposedly would be part of the composition of this narrative. Armed with perspectives and plural interpretations, this research aims to search the history of the Orphic tradition, looking for images that account for this intrinsic multiplicity and characteristic of the Dionysian universe, in order to analyze also the beliefs peculiar to the practices of dramatic representation and if they would be present in the Orphic ritual, especially in the classical period, from the symbology established at the time by the te... The reduction of G-ordinary crystalline representations with G-structure / La réduction des représentations cristallines G-ordinaires avec G-structurePeche Irissarry, Macarena 15 November 2016 (has links)
Fontaine’s D_cris functor allows us to associate an isocrystal to any crystalline representation. For a reductive group G, we study the reduction of lattices inside a germ of crystalline representations with G-structure V, to lattices (which are crystals) with G-structure inside D_cris(V). Using Kisin modules theory, we give a description of this reduction in terms of G, in the case when the representation V is (G-)ordinary. In order to do that, first we need to generalize Fargues’ construction of the Harder-Narasimhan filtration for p-divisible groups to Kisin modules.

“We Always Have to be the Nice Ones, be the Ladies”: A Postfeminist Analysis of how Sports Marketing Reflects Female Athletes’ Lived ExperiencesMirkovic, Veronika January 2020 (has links)
Current debates about representations of female athletes in the media consist mainly of textual analyses research produced by scholars who observe the topic from different theoretical frameworks. To better comprehend the relation between women athletes and media’s representation of them, in particularly advertising, this thesis aims to converse with up-and-coming professional and collegiate sportswomen as a way to examine what kind of correlation, if any, there is between sports commercials’ portrayals of female athletes and their actual reality. As there has been a shift in sports marketing approaches towards women through ‘femvertising’ (which challenges traditional gender stereotypes), a common belief is that gender equality in sport has been achieved. Taken as my case study, I use Nike’s commercials I Feel Pretty (2006) and Dream Crazier (2019) as auxiliary ‘props’ to get the discussion about advertisements’ representations of female athletes off ground in my conversations with several women athletes. Nike stands as one of the most prominent sporting brands in the world, and since the early 90s, the brand has been leading in “female athlete empowerment” advertising. Thus, by conducting a focus group interview in addition to in-depth semi-structured interviews with women athletes from the United States and Europe, the analysis draws on a postfeminist critique as a way to better understand the relation between the representations of sportswomen in sport advertisements versus their real-life experiences. Ultimately, the results of this research work imply that even though sport brands make a good case for the visibility of sportswomen, it does not match the experiences of the female athletes without celebrity status. Finally, this thesis is a contribution to the field of media and communication studies as it privileges the voices of up-and-coming professional and collegiate female athletes. It serves in hope of inspiring other scholars to further investigate sport in relation to gender and media through the lived experiences of the sportswomen about which they theorize.

Galois representations and Mumford-Tate groups attached to abelian varieties / Représentations galoisiennes et groupe de Mumford-Tate associé à une variété abélienneLombardo, Davide 10 December 2015 (has links)
Let $K$ be a number field and $A$ be a $g$-dimensional abelian variety over $K$. For every prime $ell$, the $ell$-adic Tate module of $A$ gives rise to an $ell$-adic representation of the absolute Galois group of $K$; in this thesis we set out to study the images of the Galois representations arising in this way.For various classes of abelian varieties a description of these images is known up to finite error, and the first aim of this work is to explicitly quantify this error for a number of different cases. We provide a complete solution for the case of elliptic curves without complex multiplication (and more generally for products thereof) and for geometrically simple abelian varieties of CM type. For other classes of abelian varieties we can only describe the Galois image when the prime $ell$ is above a certain bound (which we compute explicitly in terms of $A$, and which is polynomial in $[K:mathbb{Q}]$ and in the Faltings height of $A$): we obtain such results for geometrically simple, semistable abelian surfaces and for "$operatorname{GL}_2$-type" varieties. We also prove similar (but slightly weaker) results for many abelian varieties of odd dimension with trivial endomorphism algebra. We then consider the Galois action on non-simple abelian varieties, and we give sufficient conditions for the associated Galois representations to decompose as a product. Finally, we investigate the structure of the intersection between the cyclotomic extensions of a number field $K$ and the fields generated by the torsion points of an abelian variety over $K$, proving a uniformity property for the degrees of such intersections.

This doctoral dissertation aims at helping the understatement of cultural heritage (or patrimony) through the study of its representations (the way cultural history defines them) in a mass media. This works consists in the study of French television programs, aired form the early 1950s to the late 1990s. During this period, in France, television became the media with the biggest audience. Also, the notion of patrimony went through considerable changes, becoming a social phenomenon: and increasing number of French citizens, from all social backgrounds, became interested in heritage. First of all, this work is a study of a subject that was treated in a variety of genres, that became more and more visible over time, and its popularity rises both in and out of the medias. How did the producers and journalists defined patrimony and what did they intend to propose to the audience with it? This work ambitions to better understand the democratization of patrimony in the French society. Was television involved in any way in this change? This media, with its particularities, may have offered a different understanding of the notion, and the representations of patrimony on television may have affected le way viewers see it.

FICTION MEDICINE AND THE COMMUNIST REVOLUTION IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINAZihan Wang (9171503) 28 July 2020 (has links)

This dissertation examines
medical representations, or what I call “fiction medicine,” in post-1949
Chinese literature and film. It is not uncommon to evaluate whether medical
facts are scientifically portrayed in literary and cinematic works. Insightful
and reasonable as this method is, the interpretation of relevant descriptions
from a single medical perspective tends to exclude what may be labeled as
misrepresentations from scholarly attention. Therefore, without judging the
value of fiction medicine in accordance with scientific standards, this
dissertation analyzes how and why medical (mis)representations are formed in
the way they are shown, which allows me to unearth those factors, such as
politics, international relations, ideology, and the like, that exert
considerable influence on the construction of medical landscape in cultural
works.

By exploring the interaction between
representations and medicine under the Chinese revolutionary context, I argue that
during the socialist period (1949-78), while revolutionary concerns tightly
regulated the writing of fiction medicine to consolidate the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP)’s rule, the production of fiction medicine was not always
monolithic, containing tensions and even resistances against the prevailing
ideology. I also argue that, after 1978, although socialist fiction medicine
was deconstructed in many ways, some remnants of its legacies have kept
influencing contemporary literary and cinematic imaginations. Based on my main
arguments, I will further explore why some socialist legacies were preserved
and remained influential while others were abandoned as reminders of the past. I
suggest that this phenomenon was highly related to the shifting goals of the
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the post-1978 political, ideological, and
economic reorientation.
