Lärarens undervisningsansvar i den muntliga kommunikationen

Sammanfattning Utgångspunkten i den här studien har varit lärarens muntliga kommunikation och hur den kommer till uttryck i den konkreta undervisningssituationen med fokus på skolämnet idrott och hälsa. Pedagogisk forskning om lärande och ämnesdidaktisk forskning brister ofta i att hänsyn ej tas till lärarens roll och dennes muntliga kommunikation i undervisningen. Området är relativt outforskat vilket är förvånande då lärarens främsta redskap är hennes tal. Syftet med den här studien var att ge en bättre förståelse för hur lärares muntliga kommunikation kommer till uttryck och om ämnets karaktär är av betydelse. För att ta reda på detta har jag använt mig av en kvalitativ forskningsansats med intervjuer och observationer som undersökningsmetod. Med hjälp av pedagogisk retoriska begrepp har jag utvecklat en modell för att förstå hur den muntliga kommunikationen fungerar och vilka konsekvenser den kan ha för undervisningen. Resultaten visar att det finns en skillnad i hur lärares tal kommer till uttryck mellan olika ämnen och hur det är ämnenas karaktär som bidrar till detta. Resultaten presenteras och kategoriseras under vad som inom pedagogisk retorik kalla lärarens undervisningsansvar. Med de analysbegrepp som använts och resultaten i form av lärarens undervisningsansvar finns möjligheten att utveckla ett undervisningsspråk för lärare. Detta språk kan användas för att utvärdera och fungera som ett pedagogiskt stöd i planeringen av konkreta undervisningssituationer. / Abstract The starting point of this study has been the teachers’ oral communication and how it is expressed in the concrete educational situation with focus on the school subject physical education. Pedagogical research on learning and school subject didactics research does not take in consideration the teacher and the teacher’s oral communication in the educational situation. The area is relatively unexplored which is surprising since the teacher’s main tool is her speech. The aim of this study was to provide a better understanding as to how teachers’ oral communication is expressed and if the character of the school subject is of significance. To explore this I used a qualitative approach with interviews and observations as investigation methods. I have developed a model using pedagogical rhetorical concepts to help understand how the oral communication works and what consequences it might have on teaching. The result shows a difference in how the teachers’ communication is expressed and that the character of the subject is a contributing factor. The results are presented and categorized under what in pedagogical rhetoric is called teachers educational responsibility. With the analytical tools that have been used in this study and the results that are the teacher’s educational responsibilities the possibility to develop a teaching language for teachers has emerged. This language can be used to evaluate and function as a pedagogical support in the planning of concrete educational situations.

För att upprätthålla en ekonomisk hållbarhet inom ett företag krävs ett ansvarsfullt företagande inom organisationer, vilket skapar behov av ett systematiskt arbetssätt med ekonomiska styrmedel. Olika styrmedel kan vara relevanta för olika syften, varför valet och användandet av dem är kritiskt att studera. Studien undersöker därför genom en komparativ fallstudie vilka faktorer som påverkar valet och användandet av styrmedel i småföretag i Sverige. Undersökningen resulterar i ett antal faktorer som enligt fallföretagen påverkar hur besluten om styrmedel tas. Dessa faktorer ligger som grund för den modell som skapats. Modellen visar att informationsbehovet hos ledaren är det som påverkar hur valet och användandet sker samt att behovet förändras beroende på företagets och omvärldens karaktär tillsammans med ledarens bakgrund. / Maintaining economic sustainability within a company requires a responsible business organization that creates the need for a systematic approach to economic instruments. Different instruments may be relevant for different purposes and therefor the choice and use of them is critical to study. The study examines, through a comparative case study which factors influence the choice and use of economic instruments in small businesses in Sweden. The survey results in a number of factors that, in the studied companies affects how decisions on financial instruments are made. These factors form the basis of the model created. The model shows that the informational needs of the leader is what influences how the selection and use takes place, and that need is changing depending on the company and the external characteristics along with the background of the leaders.

'The Magnificent 7[am]?' Work-life articulation beyond the 9[am] to 5[pm] 'norm'

Yes / This article focuses on the work-life ‘balance’ challenges of those who work in organisations that operate beyond standard hours. The concept of work-life articulation is utilised to examine the experiences and practicalities of attempting to reconcile the, often competing, demands of employment and family life. Qualitative research was conducted in two private sector businesses and one third sector organisation in the UK during the onset of the 2008 financial crisis. The findings reveal increasing competitive pressures, efficiency drives and work intensification. ‘Business needs’ are prioritised over care responsibilities, and in the private sector organisations there is declining flexible working with a reassertion of the management prerogative. This article contributes to current debates over work-life ‘balance’ and highlights variable, changeable and unpredictable working time arrangements that permeate non-standard hours, which creates additional complexities and challenges for family time schedules and routines. / ESRC

Motherhood and its impact on career progression

No / After many years of equal opportunities legislation, motherhood still limits womens' career progress even in a feminized occupation such as nursing. While the effect of motherhood, working hours, career breaks and school aged children upon career progression has been discussed widely, its actual scale and magnitude has received less research attention. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of these factors individually and cumulatively. Design/methodology/approach: This paper considers the impact of the above through a longitudinal analysis of a demographically unique national database, comprising the 46,565 registered nursing workforces in NHS Scotland from 2000-2008. The variables examined include gender, employment grades, number and length of career breaks, lengths of service, age, working patterns, the number and age of dependent children. Findings: The results indicate: motherhood has a regressively detrimental effect on women's career progression. However, this is a simplistic term which covers a more complex process related to the age of dependent children, working hours and career breaks. The degree of women's restricted career progression is directly related to the school age of the dependent children: the younger the child the greater the detrimental impact. Women who take a career break of greater than two years see their careers depressed and restricted. The results confirm that whilst gender has a relatively positive effect on male career progression; a women's career progression is reduced incrementally as she has more children, and part-time workers have reduced career progression regardless of maternal or paternal circumstances. Originality/value: This paper is the only example internationally, of a national workforce being examined on this scale and therefore its findings are significant. For the first time the impact of motherhood upon a women's career progression and the related factors; dependent children, career breaks and part-time working are quantified. These findings are relevant across many areas of employment and they are significant in relation to broadening the debate around equal opportunities for women. In addition it may be noted that these agreements and plans reflect an inclination on the side of the legislature to move away from expensive, cumbersome and aggresive litigation bt providing the opportunity to persons concerned to come to mutaully acceptable results. It is futher argued that these agreements and plans may be viewed as a first step for the establishment of Family Relationshiop Centres it has developed in Australian Law / LLM (Private Law), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2014

The introduction of school governing bodies provided the communities with an opportunity to play a significant role in the organisation and governance of the schools. This involvement of significant stakeholders is purported to oversee that schools offer education of high quality to the learners. However, school governance is a legal responsibility, which requires skills, knowledge and expertise to ensure that SGB members will be able to fulfil the concomitant legal duties. The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of SGBs' capacity on school governance in three rural schools in the Moretele District. The findings revealed that SGBs' knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities, and the type of training they receive have a marked effect on their functionality. There is also a need to recruit SGB members with a particular level of education, knowledge, understanding and expertise to minimize the chances of failure. / Educational Studies / Thesis (M. Ed.)

Challenges facing school governing bodies in the implementation of finance policies in the Vhembe District

The study focused on the challenges facing school governing bodies in the Vhembe district in the implementation of finance policies. Through the provision of the South African Schools Act, 84 of 1996, the school governing body is entrusted with the responsibilities of establishing and managing the school fund. The research was a multi-site case study of the Vhembe district. Purposive sampling of schools was conducted. Semi-structured interviews, observations and document analyses were carried out. The findings suggest that the finance personnel and committees at school level were not well established, trained and thus became dysfunctional. The researcher recommends that finance policies should be amended, finance committees trained and continuous monitoring of finances provided by the circuit and district officials. The study was also characterized by a number of limitations, including difficulties in understanding financial terminology by some participants and fear of handing in financial documents for examination. / Educational Leadership and Management / M.
