Fysisk bildning sett ur ett lärarperspektiv : -En studie om hur idrottslärare och fritidspedagoger arbetar med fysisk bildning / Physical literacy seen from a teachers perspective : -A study of how physical education teachers and teachers in school-age educare work with physical literacyÖdlund, Emil, Kolsmyr, Axel January 2022 (has links)
The situation regarding peoples' health around the world is taking a turn for the worse on both a global and national scale, where technical advancement and an increase of sedentary behaviour are described as contributing factors. In 1993 Margaret Whitehead introduced the concept of physical literacy which is an approach to physical activity that can be adapted in order to help turn this troubling trend around. This concept has since its introduction gained traction around the world and contains four core elements including motivation, confidence, physical competence and knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life. The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding and compare physical education teachers and school-age educare teachers perceptions and ways of work in accordance with physical literacy in Swedish elementary schools. Furthermore, this study investigated the possibilities and the educators personal interest of working together between school-age educare teachers and physical education when it comes to helping the pupils develop an active style of life. This study was constructed using a qualitative approach in which eight people were interviewed in northern Sweden. The results indicated that both differences and similarities between physical education teachers and school-age educare teachers could be identified, with the curriculum being a contributing factor. One conclusion this study reached is that both school-age educare teachers and physical education teachers work in accordance with physical literacy to a certain degree, but there is definitely room for improvement. The school has a massive opportunity to instill an active style of life in the students, that the concept of physical literacy strives for, however this opportunity is not capitalized upon fully.

This thesis examines the right to participation of children in Quebec schools in light of the
Convention on Children's Rights. First, we present the historical foundations and legal scope of
children's right to participation, and propose some elements of definition. We then retrace the
history of schools and education, approaching it from a contemporary global perspective, and
conclude with a study of Quebec law on participation in schools. Finally, we devote our last
section to assessing the effectiveness of children's right to participation in Quebec schools, based
on the opinions of the main stakeholders: the children themselves.

Exploring adolescent identity formation in a school contextStoop, Therese Jeanette 30 November 2005 (has links)
The comprehensive evidence presented by a number of researchers established that the nature of the classroom environment has a potent influence on students' academic, social and psychological development. This thesis set out to advance the idea that taxonomy of relevant optimum conditions for identity development can serve to illuminate thinking and research on the impact of the classroom environment on identity development in adolescence.
A systems approach was used. The subjects were Grade 11 pupils of a high school in Gauteng. They completed questionnaires in paragraph format, and case studies were conducted with five students. Questions relating to their classroom environments were asked. The unit of study was primarily the classroom, but since the classroom is part of the larger school system, aspects of the school environment were explored as well.
Positive and negative elements in the classroom environment, that enhance or hamper identity development, were identified. Recommendations were made to improve the classroom environment in order to create an environment that is conducive to identity development, and ultimately, academic achievement. / Psychology / D.Litt et Phil (Psychology)

The role of the principal in promoting a culture of leaning and teaching in Shiselweni High School in SwazilandNdlela, Julia Nelisiwe 11 1900 (has links)
The researcher has observed and noted that out of the four regions of Swaziland,
Shiselweni is the leading region with high schools that manifest a poor culture of learning
and teaching. The summary of 2009 Junior Certificate results revealed that it is not only
that Shiselweni had the lowest pass rate, but also that it recorded the highest number of
failures when compared with the other three regions. The purpose of the study was to
determine strategies that could be used by principals in promoting a culture of learning
and teaching in Shiselweni high schools in Swaziland.
The study pursued a qualitative research design which was explorative and descriptive.
Qualitative methods were used to collect data from the respondents. Data was collected
by means of focus group interviews with learners and teachers, and then through one-onone
interviews with principals and parents. The sample was drawn from six high schools
in the Shiselweni region that differed in their academic performance. Purposive sampling
was used when selecting the schools and those who were to participate in the study.
Data was constantly compared and analyzed using the coding method. Participants signed
letters of consent and they were assured of the anonymity and confidentiality of the
study. They were also made aware that they were not forced to participate in the study
and that they were free to withdraw if they were so persuaded.
Triangulation and the Guba’s trustworthiness model were used to enhance the reliability
and validity of the study. Findings helped the researcher to arrive at recommendations on
the role that principals should play in promoting a culture of learning and teaching in
Shiselweni high schools in Swaziland. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Educational Management)

Youth culture and discipline at a school in the Western CapeCarstens, Carin 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MEd)--Stellenbosch University, 2013. / Bibliography / Internationally, contemporary youth struggle to make sense or meaning of their lives. That is so because they live in a world where they daily witness unsolvable problems of struggling economies, poverty, HIV, and religious and national conflict, and where they are generally treated with ambivalence and a threat to the existing social order. Youth also struggle because within the public imagination they exist on the fringe of society. Giroux (2012: 2) argues that youth are given few spaces where “they can recognise themselves outside of the needs, values, and desires preferred by the marketplace” and are mostly subjected to punitive and zero tolerance approaches when they behave in unacceptable ways.
In South Africa presently, it is generally claimed that “discipline problems” amongst youth have become the most endemic problem in South African schools, with policy makers and educators daily complaining about the disciplinary problems within schools that affect how learners engage with learning. Equally, discipline as punitive coercion has been shown to be an unsuccessful educational method in dealing with youth (Porteus & Vally 1999).
With the above schooling challenge in mind, this qualitative study explored the views of thirteen young learners at Avondale High School in the Western Cape on school discipline. Via semi-structured interviews, the youth were asked about their understandings of the rules, disciplinary structures, forms of authority and order at the school, how they interpreted the role of discipline, and how they thought this would influence the futures awaiting them.
The goal of the study was to provide a multi-dimensional view of what youth regarded as discipline at one school, and to explore whether different learners adopted different meanings of ‘discipline’ according to the context of their individual lives.
I show in the study - utilising the views of Emile Durkheim, Michel Foucault and Pierre Bourdieu - that school discipline needs to be thought of as more than punishment or structures of ordering per se if it is to play a productive role in the functioning of schools. Along with Yang (2009: 49) I suggest that only when schools recognise that discipline has multiple meanings and (limited) roles within their daily functioning, will the emancipatory and transformative possibilities of school discipline be unlocked. For that to happen, the voices and views of youth in schools have to be taken account of, and meaningful relationships developed between learners, educators, and school management.

Klima školy / School ClimateNovotná, Michaela January 2014 (has links)
The central point of this thesis is the matter of school climate. The text seeks to cover the important features of this phenomenon and to set its theoretical framework. The thesis itself consists of two main parts: theory and research. To understand school climate we cover the terminology in the first chapter of the theoretical part. The second chapter goes into deeper details of school climate such as its structure and effects. In the third chapter, we take a closer look at salient features and factors impacting school climate. Of these features, students and teachers are the most important elements contributing to the school climate and as such are covered most extensively. The last chapter discusses various criterions to assess the pattern of the school climate. The research section is centered around an opinion survey focused on school climate perception from the standpoint of students, teachers, and parents conducted in smaller city high schools. Next to the description of climates observed, the research also compares the key indicators as well as the views of the survey participants.

Školní prostředí v československých a českých televizních seriálech / School Milieu in Czechoslovak and Czech Televizion SerialsZbožínková, Šárka January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis "Educational environment in Czechoslovak and Czech Television Serials" deals with television serials where the educational environment is prevalent. There is a deep analysis of six serials with specific reference to the traits of the characters and the educational environment. There is also a detailed analysis of story construction in terms of seriality. In each serial there are a number of connected stories and plots. However, there are also stories which remain separate from the primarily storylines. It also looks closely at how the levels by suspense are maintained. The endings of each episode is deeply analysed as they are crucial for maintaining suspense. The period in that the serials were made is also important. The author deals with the responses in the media as a completion of the journalist's opinion. A comparation between the results and the analysis to conclude the thesis is carried out.
