Kristen Sionism : Myt som religiöst och politiskt verktyg

Arvidsson, Thomas January 2011 (has links)
In this essay I focus on Christian Zionism, its roots and growth, to judge wether or not it is possible to look at Christian Zionism as a modern form of myth. To do that I have used Bruce Lincoln's definition: ideology in narrative form. I also ask the question whether this kind of religious conviction can be labeled as an extreme or become a danger to society. The conclusion I reach is that Christian Zionism and its broader context, dispensationalism, very well fits the definitions of modern myth that Lincoln offers. There is certainly a hierarcic ideology within Christian Zionism, and its narrative/myth have been ”negotiated between narrators and audiences over time”. The essay also shows that there is a risk concerning this particular form of religious conviction, it could become an extreme. Especially so when this alternative form of viewing reality and the future, is represented not only among ordinary citizens in the US, but also within the US Government and among military leaders.

“Build My house so I will again dwell among My people Israel and among all my creation"– En analys av Gershon Salomon och Tempelbergets trogna i både judisk och kristen sionism 2009-2022

Malki, Tiodora January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine what temple vision the jewish temple activist Gershon Salomon, the unchallenged leader who founded the first ever jewish organization to focus on the significance of the Temple Mount and the rebuilding of the jewish temple, had about the Temple in Jerusalem in Jewish tradition. The study will apply whether Salomons temple vision was a religious/ritual in which the rebuilding of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem was the main goal, a nationalistic/zionist where the significance of the Temple Mount was political, cultural and spiritual rather than religious, or a worldwide temple vision. This will be investigated by using the psychiatric phenomenon of the Jerusalem syndrome as well as Maria Läppekaris (2004/5) definition of apocalyptic representations of the Temple Mount. This study will examine the material which consists of two interviews with Gershon Salomon through a qualitative text method. The results of this thesis found that Gershon Salomons representation of the rebuilding of the temple was nationalistic/zionist.

De utvalda : om antisemitism i Sverige / The Chosen Ones : about anti-Semitism in Sweden

Johansson, Niclas January 2013 (has links)
The essay is about how four Jewish people experience anti-Semitism in Sweden. They answered questions related to two themes, anti-Semitism and Israel Criticism / anti-Zionism. The informants have not personally been subjected to anti-Semitism widely, but they feel that anti-Semitism is more prevalent in other parts of Sweden. Criticism of Israel is experienced as anti-Semitism when it is unbalanced and when the media blames Jews collectively for what is happening in Israel / Palestine. They see no reason to criticize Zionism because it is about a Jewish self-determination. A couple of respondents believe that Zionism is so strongly associated with Jewish tradition that anti-Zionism automatically becomes hostile towards Jews.

Židovská identita v období pozdního císařství a Výmarské republiky. Jakob Steinhardt a okruh umělců kolem něho / Jewish Identity in the late Empire and in the Weimar Republic. Jacob Steinhardt and his Circle of Artists

Pekárková, Eliška January 2018 (has links)
Jakob Steinhardt (1887 - 1968) has been ranked among the most significant German-Jewish artists of the 20th century. He became famous for his woodcuts depicting Jewish motives such as his Pessach-Haggada. He was also an important representative of the so-called Jewish Renaissance. The aim of this thesis is to present his persona in the context of German-Jewish history in the first three decades of the 20th century. The thesis tries to reconstruct his circle of artists and to analyse the Jewish constructions of identity. Methodologically, the thesis is based on the concept of cultural transfer; at the same time it also draws from historical analyses of social bonds and from the Visual Turn writings. The primary sources consist of individual pieces of visual arts, Steinhardts` guest books, his diaries, memoires of his wife and the then press. Key words: Judaism, Identity, Sionism, Jewish Renaissance, Expressionism, Jakob Steinhardt

"Ett Herrefolk i Israel" : Debatten om Israel-Palestinakonflikten i Dagens Nyheter 1988 / "Ett Herrefolk i Israel" : The debate concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Dagens Nyheter in 1988

Keinvall, Kristoffer January 2018 (has links)
This essay focuses on analyzing the rhetoric concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in opinion pieces in the Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter in 1988. This is done using a qualitative analysis method. The theoretical basis for the essay is primarily founded on postcolonial theory and in particular on Edward Said’s claim that Israel is a new example of European colonialism. The aim is to determine how the authors of the opinion pieces, using certain rhetoric, portray Israel and the Palestinians/PLO in relation to their position of power. The justification and condemnation of violence between the parties will also be examined. The results show that the pro-Israeli authors tend to use the Jews’ history of persecution and suffering as a justification for the existence of Israel. Also, they argue that Israeli violence is a form of self-defense as a result of Arab intransigence and violence. The more pro-Palestinian authors tend to portray Israel as a violent and oppressing regime, and in some cases adhere to the view on the state as an example of European colonialism.
