<p>School leaders face the challenge of creating and maintaining learning during rapid and complex conditions. Some of the challenges associated with leadership based on authenticity in intercultural schools will be discussed. The purpose of this essay is to describe and gain an insight into three school leaders´ views on leadership in multicultural schools. The study is based on scientific articles and the survey consists of interviews with head teachers in different multicultural schools. The hermeneutic research approach has been the basis for this study through qualitative interviews and collected data for analysis. To get a better understanding of the issues this essay culminates in, different leadership styles are shortly presented. The characteristics that underpin this study will hopefully be better understood through definitions of key concepts. In an attempt to further define authentic leadership, the concept of authentic followership will be introduced and discussed. Effective leadership in intercultural schools requires genuine understanding and action. In line with this, various strategies are proposed by which leaders can consciously transform and better understand the problems and find solutions in intercultural school contexts.</p>

Denna studie har syftat till att undersöka och skapa förståelse för hur skolledare/rektorer resonerar runt specialpedagogiska frågor och hur de beskriver den egna skolans specialpedagogiska verksamhet. Inom vilket eller vilka specialpedagogiskt teoretiska perspektiv förs den specialpedagogiska diskursen bland skolledare/rektorer? Undersökningen har en kvalitativ ansats och grundar sig inom ett hermeneutiskt och ett tolkande/konstruktivistiskt paradigm. Undersökningsmetoden består av intervjuer med fem skolledare/rektorer inom olika skolverksamheter i en kommun. Intervjuerna analyserades utifrån frågeställningarna genom en analysnyckel och särskilda teman utkristalliserades. Resultaten visar att specialpedagogik är komplext och mångfacetterat och att begreppet specialpedagogik kan ses som en paraplyterm med ett omfångsrikt och växlande innehåll. Samtliga specialpedagogiska perspektiv; det traditionella/kompensatoriska perspektivet, det relationella perspektivet samt dilemmaperspektivet kommer till uttryck när skolledarna/rektorerna beskriver specialpedagogik i generella termer. Samtliga specialpedagogiska perspektiv återfinns också när skolledarna/rektorerna beskriver den egna skolans specialpedagogiska verksamhet om än i olika omfattning. Verksamheter inom det relationella perspektivet står tillbaka i jämförelse med verksamheter inom det traditionella/kompensatoriska perspektivet och inte minst dilemmaperspektivet. Slutsatsen av denna studie är att tyngdpunkten i skolledarnas/rektorernas beskrivningar ligger inom dilemmaperspektivet. Dilemmaperspektivet är ett nytt betraktelsesätt när man resonerar runt specialpedagogiska frågor och det behövs mer forskning inom det perspektivet.

The purpose of this master's thesis is to examine and compare the process of starting a school library at schools which haven't had a school library before, and to examine and compare the experience of this process according to the principals and the persons responsible for the school library. I have examined two Swedish independent primary schools (age 6-15 years). I have made qualitative interviews with the principals and the persons responsible for the new school library. In all, I have made seven interviews. As requested by the new Swedish Educational Act, both schools had recently started creating school libraries. One of the schools had recruited a half-time teacher-librarian and the other had no staffing at all. In the interviews, I have examined the attitudes of the informants towards school libraries, if this attitude has changed during the process of starting the school library, the informants' experiences during this process and the informants' views on the school library as an agent for student achievement. I have used David V. Loertscher's taxonomies for the principal, the school librarian and the student, to analyze the statements of the informants. The result of the study shows that at the school without library staff, the person responsible for the library had a hard time starting it as there were no time allocated. The work was easier and quicker done at the school with the part-time teacher-librarian. The views of the school library and of its possibilities for student achievement, that the informants expressed, were positive at the school with the staffed library,as well as their experiences. At the other school, the attitudes and experiences were more negative. The conclusion of the study is that staffing is an important factor for a successful school library, and that starting a school library requires a great amount of planning, knowledge, time and resources. This is a two years master's thesis in Archive, Library and Museum studies.

Sedan införandet av förskoleklassen har denna frivilliga skolform blivit omdiskuterad. Olika utredningar och forskningsprojekt visar att det finns otydligheter kring syfte och uppdrag för förskoleklassens verksamhet som i sin tur påverkar lärarens roll i förskoleklassen. Förskoleklassen betecknas som någonting mellan förskolan och skolan och befinner sig i ett gränsland i vilket förskolans och skolans kultur möts. Syfte med den här studien är att undersöka hur skolledare uppfattar och funderar över lärarens roll i förskoleklassen. Skolledare tillhör en beslutformande yrkesgrupp inom skolvärlden och därmed utövar inflytande på vem som arbetar i förskoleklassen. Studien är baserad på öppna och kvalitativa intervjuer med fem skolledare och analysen är utförd utifrån ett fenomenografisk och hermeneutisk forskningsansats. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt för studien används gränslandsteori. Resultatet visar att skolledares uppfattningar kring lärarens roll kopplas till uppdraget för förskoleklassens verksamhet. Andra centrala begrepp som diskuteras i samband med lärarens roll i förskoleklassen är kompetens, samverkan, yrkesstatus och läroplanen. Skolledares uppfattningar visar båda likheter och skillnader. Samtidigt framkommer det att i sina resonemang skolledare rör sig i gränslandet.
