Establishing Chemical Mechanisms And Estimating Phase State Of Secondary Organic Aerosol From Atmospherically Relevant Organic Precursors

Jain, Shashank 01 January 2016 (has links)
Organic aerosol (OA) is a ubiquitous component of atmospheric particulate that influences both human health and global climate. A large fraction of OA is secondary in nature (SOA), being produced by oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by biogenic and anthropogenic sources. Despite the integral role of SOA in atmospheric processes, there remains a limited scientific understanding of the chemical and physical changes induced in SOA as it ages in the atmosphere. This thesis describes work done to increase the knowledge of processes and properties of atmospherically relevant SOA. In the work presented in this thesis, I have worked on improving an existing innovative, soft ionization aerosol mass spectrometer and utilized it to establish chemical mechanisms for oxidation of atmospherically relevant organic precursors (i.e., Green Leaf Volatiles). I discovered that SOA formation from cis-3-hexen-1-ol is dominated by oligomer and higher molecular weight products, whereas the acetate functionality in cis-3-hexenylacetate inhibited oligomer formation, resulting in SOA that is dominated by low molecular weight products. One of the most important factors contributing to uncertainties in our estimations of SOA mass in the atmosphere, remains our basic assumption that atmospheric SOA is liquid-like, which we have found to be untrue. Hence, I developed a methodology to estimate the phase state of SOA and identified new parameters that can have significant influence on the phase state of atmospheric aerosol. This simplified method eliminates the need for a Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) and directly measures Bounce Factor (BF) of polydisperse SOA using only one multi-stage cascade Electrostatic Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI). The novel method allows for the real time determination of SOA phase state, permitting studies of the relationship between SOA phase, oxidative formation and chemical aging in the atmosphere. I demonstrated that SOA mass loading (CSOA) influences the phase state significantly. Results show that under nominally identical conditions, the maximum BF decreases by approximately 30% at higher CSOA and suggests that extrapolation of experiments not conducted at atmospherically relevant SOA levels to simulate the chemical properties may not yield results that are relevant to our natural environment. My work has provided a better understanding of the mechanisms of aerosol formation at atmospheric concentrations, which is necessary to understand its physical properties. This improved understanding is fundamental to accurately model aerosol formation in the atmosphere, and subsequently evaluate their large-scale effect on human health and environment.

Securely Consume Web Services Using PHP

Vo, Sonny Tran-Hai 19 December 2008 (has links)
The PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor language (PHP) has evolved to a sophisticated mainstream programming language for rapid development of significant Web applications at major sites including Facebook.com, Wikipedia.org and Yahoo.com. Leading software vendors such as Oracle and IBM are rushing in providing tools that bridge their products to PHP. However, we have observed a gap in facilitating PHP to utilize Web services efficiently. This thesis reports our efforts in design and implementation of PHP applications that consume Web services. In doing so, I have proposed a framework facilitating PHP programs to utilize Web services with high performance capability. In addition, a number of Web service standards including WS-Addressing and those in WS-Security are integrated into my PHP implementation. Examples of using various Amazon Web Services are provided with details.

Služby v obecných souvislostech / Services in mutual contigency

Prouza, Petr January 2010 (has links)
This thesis is focused on services in informatics, especially their global concept and mutual contingency. In this issue there is one main aim but there can be found more minor goals without as high importance as main one. The particular goals are specification of different dimensions of view on informatics services, analysis of standards dealing with services in aim to find mutual contingency, creation of global model of service, definition of global sense and functionality of services and clarifying the look on the services in organizations. If this look is broader one or only technical solution of informatics is taken into account (the broad context is connected with processes and business). In the first part of my thesis the dimensions of different views on issue of services in informatics are specified. It includes the overlapping of these dimensions according to read literature and other internet sources. The second part of my work is about analyzing of standards in information services provided in services orientated architecture and standards dealing with governance of services in informatics. Next chapter involves the global model of service created on basis of previous analysis and the knowledge from read literature. The fourth chapter is focused on definition of the global sense and functionality of services. The last part of my thesis summarized the most common problems which can occur during introduction of services. The last chapter contains the case study in which the importance of understanding of services in their broad context is mentioned and revealed.

Fugita, Henrique Shoiti 23 June 2009 (has links)
With the growing adoption of Service-Oriented Architeture (SOA) by the organizations, it becomes necessary to address one of the main challenges imposed by this architetural style, which is services analysis and design. Some service-oriented applications analysis and design methods have been proposed, but have not yet converged towards standardization. This work performs a critical assessment of existing methods and describes a set of requirements of service-oriented analysis and design. Based on that study, a new method is proposed to unify the best practices of existing methods and satisfy the gathered requirements. In order to verify the applicability of the method, two case studies were conducted in real projects.

Despite the advances in Web Services and development IDEs, there is not an environment capable of generate Composite Application without the need of coding and without the need of a software development professional participation. SINS, showed in this work, is an environment capable of generate Composite Applications in real time, consuming the existent services with the advantage that it doesn’t need any coding to do this task

No. of bitstreams: 1 Francisco Piedade Amaral.pdf: 1795771 bytes, checksum: ac6c6b2e2b55fab188216596c3be810a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-05-17 / Along with the rising number of organizations adopting the process oriented managing model, the IT area has been challenged to adapt to this new context, providing integrated systems to support the business model. This adaptation requires changes in the management model, strong alignment with the business and new IT consultant profile. The concept of Business Process Management (BPM) and the concept of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has been the way solution providers companies for integrated business management applications (ERP Systems) have adopted to enable Process-oriented management model. This new methodology requires a new way of implementing ERP Systems, based on business alignment, process integration and a new profile for IT consultants is demanded. With the integrated use of BPM/SOA approach, organizations can define and optimize business process to implement software systems able to perform the orchestration of their activities for a improved competitiveness in the market place / Com o surgimento de novos modelos de gestão empresarial com empresas orientadas a processos, a área de Tecnologia da Informação tem sido desafiada a adaptar-se a esse novo contexto, provendo o negócio com sistemas equivalemente desenhados e orientados a esse novo modelo de gestão.

SOAPIF : Ett ramverk för utveckling av tjänsteorienterade API:er / SOAPIF : A Framework For Development of Service-Oriented API’s

Blomberg, Marcus, Davidsson, Per January 2009 (has links)

Den tjänsteorienterade arkitekturen : En diskursanalys över dess framställning / The service oriented architecture : A discourse analysis over it’s description

Andersson, Tommy, Sörensson, Per January 2008 (has links)

Strategier för att hantera hinder vid utveckling av transnationella informationssystem / Strategies to handle obstacles in the development of transnational information systems

Sangiri, Magomed January 2010 (has links)
