It approaches the words that were used to give meaning for the people that nowadays we call young on the cultural hebrem bible. It contextualizes the words showing that the young, with the development of the history were excluded from society. It redoes the way of the constitution of the monarch system in Israel. Trying to show the dominant structures that were formed by the ancients with the creation of this system. It talks about the involvement in the perspective that this literature movement was incorporated by the ancients to justify their own interests of social domination. It talks about the generation conflicts that were in the hebrem culture and also today. And to finish it approaches the proverbs about young nowadays, trying to see the dominant structures implicit in it. It criticizes the proverbs, questioning how relations happen forwards the freedom of the young.

\"Meu Portugal é a aldeia\": etnografia de uma dinâmica de circulação migratória e práticas transnacionais / \"Meu Portugal é a aldeia\": ethnography of the dynamics of migratory movement and transnational practices

Rodrigues, Weslei Estradiote 29 November 2013 (has links)
This research is the result of ethnographic observations about a proposed cut to a partic-ular frame of transnational migratory movement. From the approach of a specific case, emigration is taken from different scales of analysis, but with emphasis on the ways in which it is produced and meant at the local level. The frame refers to the seasonal movements focused on departure and return of emigrants from the village of Vilas Bo-as, northeast of Portugal. I seek to follow the agents for their displacements between the context of departure and destination contexts for which they headed, without losing the perspective of the village as the focus of interest in social participation of agents. Most of the field work, however, occurred in the context of massive return of migrants to the village for the celebration of a religious festival site. In this context are observed the different ways in which the emigrant group relates to the people residing in the village as well as the ways in which their participation in making the party and the local social life. It is, therefore, a reflection on practices that sustain social relations transnationally and update the reunion caused by return.

Região do colonato: mobilização do trabalho e autonomização do capital na área de Olímpia (1857-1964) no Oeste Paulista / Region of colonato: mobilization of work and financial autonomy of capital in Olimpia\'s area (1857-1964) in Oeste Paulista

Boechat, Cássio Arruda 26 June 2009 (has links)
This thesis aimed at a manner to deal with the concept of region, already discussing the formation of social relations of production, which, taken as being particular, characterize a region. We therefore thought on the formation of value relatization assumptions, distinguishing the way the concept of colonization is taken when related to the colonial period and to the colonato system in the coffee production in the later Nineteenth century so-called Oeste Paulista (the west portion of Brazilian são Paulo state). The colonato region was thought through three different approaches. The first of them dealt with the private property formation of the city of Olímpia, São Paulo, area. There we tried to show how it had to do with the civilizatory violence against the local Indian populations, also with the breading of new cities and with a particular form of State in Brazil\'s First Republic period: the coronelismo. In second approach, we thought the colonato region as a product of a State policy that organized the coffee productioon expansion and, mainly, a mass imigration in order to establish the relative super-population in the Oeste Paulista. finally, we sought to analyze the concretization of such coffee production expansion (and, thus, the colonato expansion) together with the different phaes of the process and, in the other hand, analyzing the colonato contract and its apllication in a Olimpia area coffee farm. In general, we put the region as a \"accelerated\" (or \"later\") modernization and the social relations of production as part of a capital autonomization process. with this, we draw a picture of the labor force reproduction possibilities in these (regional) conditions of lacking of a formed relative super-population and its implications to life in general of an epoch\'s population.

As relações interpessoais na equipe de saúde da família na perspectiva do construcionismo social / Interpersonal Relations in a family health teamwork in a social construcionist approach

Marta de Oliveira Pimentel 22 March 2011 (has links)
The aims of this study were to investigate the relational dimension within the healthcare work, focusing on interpersonal relations developed in a family health teamwork; to analyze the interactional dynamics in establishing social roles for the participants of the family health and the managers who support teamwork through mapping interpretative repertoire; to identify social practices-mechanisms and language in use - which contribute to social interactions/interpersonal relations in teamwork. It is an explorative qualitative study. Theoretically and methodologically, this research is based on social construcionism. The study was carried out in two Health Units in Belo Horizonte City in two periods: October 2009 to February 2010 and May 2010 to August 2010. Data was collected through observation and semi-structured interviews. Twenty-eight integrative activities of four family health teamworks (who met the criteria of the study were observed. Thirty-two collaborators were interviewed: two health unit managers, four nurses, three physicians, five nurse technicians and eighteen community health agents. Data showed the general characteristics of the collaborators who provided us a better understanding of the relational processes developed within family health teamwork settings. Speech analysis based on a construcionist approach allowed us to identify six interpretative repertoires:: (a) meeting place: the local where social diversity meet ; (b) Users share: a clash of points of view; (c) teamwork: It ain´t so easy to do; (d) Interpersonal relations and the gap between the Organization ( or Institution) and the workers; (e) The managers and the participants of the family health teamworks: the living space; (f) Magic mirror: mirror ,mirror on the wall The use of repertoires allowed us to justify and legitimate interpersonal relation practices within family health teamwork settings. However, there was a predominance in individualist responsibility character traits observed from social contexts and not present in the work settings, which is responsibility-free. The performance of social roles, for the interaction with others in building projects in common on a daily basis in a family health teamwork setting, are individually experienced. Nevertheless, we (strongly) believe them to be important and new relational practices in health-care work, especially teamwork.

The objective of this study was also to evaluate and to account the abilities that appeared on the repertoire of those teachers perceived as leaders by students of Management at a private higher education institution having as a basis the Del Prette s Inventary of Social Abilities, The Leadership Theory based on Principles and the Traits Approach of Leadership. The research was intended to identify if the teachers mentioned on the previous theoretical basis could be considered leaders. The results found out that almost all the teachers evalued showed excellent or good repertoire of abilities, although only three among then had been considered leaders by the students. At the same time, it was noticed that teachers who had a very low level of nominations also showed a potentially good repertoire. The teachers who presented a weak repertoire, thus being suitable for training or intervention programs corresponded to the student s perception; that is, they had not been considered leaders. The evaluation results matched up the level of nominations; however, one should take into consideration changeable personal, environmental and circumstantial aspects. The Del Prette s Inventary an instrument of self- relating planned for our reality permitted the identification of deficits and social ability resources as well as revealed self-perception and self-esteem aspects highly important in professional terms those days.

IDENTITY AND SOCIAL RELATIONS: A CASE OF CHINESE GRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE U.S.

Zhang, Baiqing 01 January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation research separates out the social relations implied in identity theory and empirically shows the interaction of identity and social relations. I conducted 60 interviews and one online survey with respondents at two public universities in two cities with distinctive sociocultural characteristics. The respondents were graduate students from mainland China pursuing their master’s or doctoral degrees in the U.S. The students’ lengths of stay in the U.S. varied, but all experienced a major life transition from China to the U.S. The qualitative interview data show that the adoption of a religious identity in the two places, defined as different social environments, impact the interaction of identity and networks. Where the community is small and homogeneous, the Chinese graduate students are quickly thrown into strong religious dyadic relationships and primary groups, and soon thereafter acquire a religious identity. Where the community is large and sparsely connected, the identity pool is large and the adoption of the religious identity becomes less constrained by dyadic relationships and primary groups. The interview data also show that within-person time spanning (the time span between prior to the respondents’ arrival in the U.S. and after the respondents’ coming to the U.S.), and between-person time spanning (the “newcomers” who have lived in the U.S. for less than one year versus the “old-timers” who have lived in the U.S. for over one year) are important in the identity network process. The transfer from China to the U.S. fosters the emergence of the Chinese ethnic identity. The Chinese network composition of the newcomers and the old-timers granted them a similar list of important identities. The quantitative findings confirm that place, time, and personal network function together to impact identity importance. Also, the classification of ties into “important people” and “time bound people” are effective predictors of identity importance. In conclusion, this dissertation research demonstrates empirically how social relations and identity impact each other. This research also provides a case study for the population – Chinese graduate students in the U.S.

Address and the Semiotics of Social Relations

Poynton, Cate McKean January 1991 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / This thesis is concerned with the realm of the interpersonal: broadly, those linguistic phenomena involved in the negotiation of social relations and the expression of personal attitudes and feelings. The initial contention is that this realm has been consistently marginalised not only within linguistic theory, but more broadly within western culture, for cultural and ideological reasons whose implications extend into the bases of classical linguistic theory. Chapter 1 spells out the grounds for this contention and is followed by two further chapters, constituting Part I: Language and Social Relations. Chapter 2 identifies and critiques the range of ways in which the interpersonal has been conventionally interpreted: as style, as formality, as politeness, as power and solidarity, as the expressive, etc. This chapter concludes with an argument for the need for a stratified model of language in order to deal adequately with these phenomena. Chapter 3 proposes such a model, based on the systemic-functional approach to language as social semiotic. The register category tenor within this model is extended to provide a model of social relations as a semiotic system. The basis for the identification of the three tenor dimensions, power, distance and affect, is the identification of three modes of deployment or realisation of the interpersonal resources of English in everyday discourse: reciprocity, proliferation and amplification. Parts II and III turn their attention to one significant issue in the negotiation of social relations: address. The focus is explicitly on Australian English, but there is considerable evidence that most if not all of the forms discussed in Part II occur in other varieties of English, especially British and American, and that some at least of the practices discussed in Part III involve the same patterns of social relations with respect to the tenor dimensions of power, distance and affect. Because most varieties of contemporary English do not have a set of options for second-person pronominal address, as is the case in many of the world's languages, English speakers use names and other nominal forms which need to be described. Part II is descriptive in orientation, providing an account of the grammar of VOCATION in English, including a detailed description of the nominal forms used. Chapter 4 investigates the identification and functions of vocatives, and includes empirical investigations of vocative position in clauses and vocative incidence in relation to speech function or speech act choices. Chapter 5 presents an account of the grammar of English name forms, organised as a paradigmatic system. This chapter incorporates an account of the processes used to produce the various name-forms used in address, including truncation, reduplication and suffixation. Chapter 6 consists of an account of non-name forms of address, organised in terms of the systemic-functional account of nominal group structure. This chapter deals with single-word non-name forms of address and the range of nominal group structures used particularly to communicate attitude, both positive and negative. Part III is ethnographic in orientation. It describes some aspects of the use of the forms described in Part II in contemporary address practice in Australia and interprets such practice using the model of social relations as semiotic system presented in Part I. The major focuses of attention is on address practice in relation to the negotiation of gender relations, with some comment on generational relations of adults with children, on class relations and on ethnic relations in nation with a diverse population officially committed to a policy of a multiculturalism. Part III functions simultaneously as a coda for this thesis, and a prologue for the kind of ethnographic study that the project was originally intended to be, but which could not be conducted in the absence of an adequate linguistically-based model of social relations and an adequate description of the resources available for address in English.

Emotional Disturbance as an Educational Disability: Implications for Social Workers

Rippey, Jean Michele 09 December 2008 (has links)
This qualitative study addressed an intersection in which the application of the medical model to educational disabilities and its implications for educational labeling of students interacted with the professional enculturation of clinical social workers. Employed as clinicians in programs administered in a large south eastern school district in the United States, five social workers served elementary students labeled Emotionally/Behaviorally Disabled (EBD) through federally authorized provisions for special education related services. This study used grounded theory methods to discover and analyze the social workers' underlying assumptions, values, and patterns of practice with regard to ethical and guild issues, roles and responsibilities, and bases of knowledge. The study found that participants interpreted and applied a knowledge base grounded in the normative aspects of social work. Their preparation made it possible to compete for licensure (LCSW) and assume roles as professional helpers but did not provide all the tools they needed to carry out their work as clinicians with students in EBD programs. Secondly, it found that ambiguities regarding ethics, guild issues, and roles emerged with regard to acting as helping professionals in an integrated professional setting. Each practitioner exercised certain latitude to respond as needed to challenges which varied from site to site. Finally, the findings reflected how the clinicians have situated themselves in the face of the demands of documentation procedures and of participation in meetings endemic to special education.
