A sinonímia na terminologia do Direito do Trabalho e do Processo Trabalhista: uma análise no texto sentença judicial / The synonymy in terminology of Labor Law and Labor Suit Domains: an analysis innthe text of judicial decisions

Gaudêncio, Thiago Carvalho 02 March 2012 (has links)
This research recognizes the existence of synonymy and almost-synonymy in the law terminology, more specifically in the Labor Law and Labor Suit fields; analyses morphologically and semantic-discursively the variations used by the magistrates, and also makes evident that those variations, in the law discourse, tend to make more difficult the communications between the specialists in the field and the common user. The theme is justified, in the sense that some authors, in the Semantics and Lexicology domains, consider preferable, in specialized discourse, to eliminate the various denominations for the same notion. On the other hand, other scholars disagree from that posture and point out that synonymy is an incontestable presence in specialized languages. The theories from Barbosa, Alves, Araújo, Faulstich, Ullmann, Bloomfield, Lopes, Geckeler, Lyons, Wüster, Boulanger, Auger, Cabré, Dubuc, Duque-Picard are then discussed about the linguistic phenomenon under analysis, as well as concepts and basic criteria for its recognition. The typology of synonyms that can be applied to the terminology are also discussed, even though they are formulated in the field of Linguistics, as we consider this science is not detached from the other. Terms from the Law field which are or are not in a synonymic relation are demonstrated, extracted from legal decisions, which have specific structures, linguistic characteristics and objectives, but, due to, mainly, the use of a specific law terminology, does not have a simple and objective language. A necessity to analyze the terminological units in its natural habitat is perceived, that is, in vivo, within the specialized communication, in the material locus of discourse, outside the context of its habitual use. It is observed that the treatment of the synonymy in Terminology must be very judicious, not only for the elaboration of its macrostructure, microstructure and the remissive processes in a terminographic work, but also to avoid ambiguity in the specialized texts. In this direction, with this research we establish paradigms for a future elaboration of a glossary in the Labor Law and Labor Suit domains.

Linguagem de especialidade da ciência da informação: estudo exploratório a partir dos periódicos brasileiros da área entre 2005 e 2009 / Specialized language of Information Science: an exploratory study of Brazilian journals of the area between 2005 to 2009

Souza, Gisele Pereira de 01 November 2011 (has links)
Analyzes the specialized languages of Information Science based on the analysis of keywords of articles in the journals Ciência da Informação, Informação & Sociedade: estudos e Perspectivas em Ciência da Informação. Design of reliable aerospace system architecture

Schäfer, Lukas Matthias January 2018 (has links)
Reliability and redundancy of safety-critical network systems is a paramount issue in system engineering. Be it in evaluating existing network systems or solving optimization problems for designing network systems, it is important to consider reliability and redundancy. This dissertation is in collaboration with AIRBUS Group, France, and they are very interest in the optimal design of safety-critical aircraft architecture systems which have to consider reliability and redundancy. To address the problem of optimally designing such systems, we chose to focus on one specific aircraft architecture system the door management system. It checks if all doors are properly closed and the cabin has the correct pressure. It is a safety-critical system since it is part of the pressurization system of an aircraft. To optimally design the DMS while considering reliability, a suitable reliability evaluation algorithm is necessary. In this dissertation, we begin by proposing a suitable reliability evaluation algorithm for a type of non series-parallel network system which includes the DMS and which can be used in an optimization model. The reliability evaluation algorithm is based on a simplification of the probability principle of inclusion-exclusion formula for intersections of unions. The simplification exploits the presence of many repeated events and has many fewer terms, which significantly reduces the number of operations needed. We compare its computational efficiency against the sum of disjoint products method KDH88 for a simple artificial example and for the DMS. Afterwards, we introduce the first MILP model for the DMS with k-redundancy. As the model is too difficult to be solved efficiently by standard MILP solvers, we discuss the issues of solving the model with general solving methods such as branch-and-bound and branch-and-price. We introduce specialized branching rules and new heuristics to solve the DMS problem with k-redundancy more efficiently and show results of computational tests which compare the specialized solving algorithms with general solving algorithms for example instances of the DMS problem. Lastly, we discuss the problems of considering reliability in MI(N)LP models for the DMS and how the new reliability evaluation algorithm can be used. In this discussion, we give different MI(N)LP models for the DMS problem with redundancy and reliability. Moreover, we propose a new heuristic for the DMS problem with redundancy and reliability. It is based on branch-and-bound, the Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition and on the new reliability evaluation algorithm. We show results of computational tests of the new heuristic for example instances of the DMS problem and discuss its validity.

Gender and Mental Health: An Examination of Procedural Justice in a Specialized and Comparison Court Context

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: Procedural justice has become a widely researched topic in the criminological field with applicability to multiple arenas, including policing, corrections, and courts. Its main tenents suggest that through fair treatment, respectful dialogue and being given a proper voice, citizens will view their experiences with authority more justly. However, though the literature regarding procedural justice has grown immensely, it is still unclear whether certain characteristics of individuals, such as gender and mental health, play a role in their perceptions of procedural justice. Using secondary data originally collected for Rossman, Roman, Zweig, Rempel and Lindquist’s Multi-Adult Drug Court Evaluation (MADCE), an attempt is made to address the previously neglected association between procedural justice, gender, mental health and the added aspect of specialized drug court participation. Results suggest that both gender and mental health, namely depression, play a significant role in predicting procedural justice. Additionally, being a drug court participant was significantly related to higher levels of perceived procedural justice. Implications for theory, research, and policy are discussed. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Criminology and Criminal Justice 2016

A Ãrvore Da Vida: Terminologia Da Cera De CarnaÃba No PortuguÃs Do Brasil / The Tree Of the Life: Terminology Of the CarnaÃba Wax In the Portuguese Of Brazil

AntÃnio Roberto Ferreira AragÃo 28 November 2007 (has links)
A anÃlise Ã, preferencialmente, qualitativa, decrevendo-se aspectos morfossintÃticos e lÃxico-semÃnticos da referida terminologia / The present paper aims at describing and analyzing the specialized vocabulary employed along the productive chain of carnaÃba wax in Caucaia, a town in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza. Two conceptual fields were considered: the artisan and the industrial wax production domains. A 321-entry glossary was then compiled, containing the representative terms extracted from the verbal data provided by the 34 subjects who took part in this study. This research works from a socioterminologic and socioterminographic perspective, taking into consideration both linguistic and social aspects of the individuals involved. The importance of such a study is made clear by the widely-felt need for systematization and organization of the terms coming from the field at hand, thus offering our society further information on this specific area. It also contributes for the enrichment of the Socioterminology area by offering this field some insights on the verbal modality of the language, which still remains a rarely visited modality. In this paper, the analysis of the terminologic variation has been accomplished, the choice of terms and its variants by the subjects being determined by their specific speech production conditions. The analysis is essentially qualitative, resulting in the description of the lexical-semantic and morphosintactic aspects of the terminology at hand.

L'enseignement du français à l'université marocaine : le cas de la filière "économie et gestion" / The French language teaching at the Moroccan University : the case of the sector "Economy and management"

Ghoummid, Imad 05 July 2012 (has links)
This thesis concerns the study of the linguistic needs of the student’s economists in touch with the sector Economy and management. I shall try to see if the subject of language and communication (LC), taught in the sector Economy andmanagement meets the needs of students in specialized discourse. This language course is only all the practices of class and the didactic tools employed by the teachers. This thesis tends to see also if the subject in question, given to the students economists, is in adequacy with the economic sector or not. This study targets the students in first year (S1 and S2), at the levels A1 and A2 of the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). In other words, this thesis tends to answer a single question: «The practices of class of language and communication in the sector Economy and management and the didactic tools employed by the teachers of this subject meet the needs in specialist language of students economists in first year of Bachelor's degree (S1 and S2), at the levels A1 and A2 of the CEFRL and do they so help them to understand better the courses of speciality and to reach the university knowledge? ". This research is situated in the crossroads of the sociolinguistics and the language pedagogy. This thesis divides in four parts. The first part entitled “Context” places the research in its geographical, sociolinguistic and educational environment. The secondpart entitled "Language class in the sector of the economic studies" concerns the practices of class of LC. We shall also find there the definitions of all the concepts used here, such as practices of class, participating observation …I shall also talk about the notion of linguistic needs and shall count the situations of communication which occur in the course of LC and the situations of communication in the economic subjects to see if both blocks are in adequacy or in inadequacy. In the third part entitled "Technolect and linguistic needs of the students economists ", I shall define the notion of technolect and specialized discourse. I shall present afterward the technolect of the economic studies. I will also try to find this technolect in documents to the economic speciality). Then, I will try to look for the same technolect in the method Cap Université. And it, to see if this method includes in its contents or excludes from this one the technolect of the economic studies. I will also bend over the analysis of the linguistic needs of the students. In the fourth and the last part entitled " Results and perspectives ", the accent will be put on the results of the research led on the ground and on the perspectives which they open

500 Essential English Words for ESL Missionaries

Thompson, Carrie A. 06 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)
In order to help ESL missionaries teach the gospel from their hearts using their own words, I have developed a 500-word list of core gospel vocabulary in English. To enhance the 500-word list, I included a lexicon with simple definitions, some grammatical information, and examples of the words in context. The resulting product complies with the standards for master's projects established by the Department of Linguistics and English Language. Published literature shows that the development of specialized corpora can be beneficial for students learning another language. Additionally, specialized corpora act as a catalyst for in-depth vocabulary analysis and the development of other materials associated with the field of language acquisition. Using the 5,013 lexical items from the Preach My Gospel manual and related materials, I developed a specialized vocabulary list of 500-words. To achieve this, I used a number of strategies to reduce the larger compilation of words into the most useful and essential core vocabulary: a pre-rating selection that resulted in 2,419 words, a non-native ESL-instructor rating that resulted in the selection of 994 words, a post-rater researcher analysis that resulted in 425 words, a range-and-frequency analysis that resulted in 634 words, and a think-out-loud analysis that resulted in 500 words. After creating the 500-word list, I implemented and tested the materials with ESL missionaries at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah. I gathered feedback from ESL teachers and missionaries through interviews and a questionnaire. Based on their responses, I determined that the 500-word list is useful in helping missionaries learn essential vocabulary and to teach gospel topics in English. Furthermore, the materials have drawn attention from administrators and developers at the MTC, creating a springboard for future projects at the MTC.
