En fallstudie om fyra lärares möten med elever med matematikängslan i mellanstadiet / A case study of four teachers' encounters with students with mathematic anxiety in middle school

Assaf, Diana, Santos, Patrik January 2024 (has links)
The main purpose of this research is to develop knowledge about mathematics anxiety and working methods as countermeasures in middle school. To achieve this goal the work of four teachers who work with students with math anxiety in middle school was studied. The aim was to investigate the relationship with students' mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy and performance. The aim was also to identify strategies in the teachers' way of working in relation to self-efficacy and performance that reduce mathematics anxiety. To fulfill this purpose data was collected through semi-structured interviews which then formed the basis of the discussion, together with previous research audited by peer-review. The analysis was based on Bandura's theory about self-efficacy as well as Vroom’s theory about academic work related to motivation and performance. A theoretical definition of math anxiety and didactic work also worked as a theoretical framework for the study. The conclusions indicated that three of the teachers experienced that math anxiety had a negative impact on the students performance, with the exception of one who indicated that math anxiety increased the student’s math performance. Another conclusion was that self-efficacy has the biggest impact when it comes to math anxiety. By raising the students' self-efficacy, the math experience became more enjoyable thus improving the math achievement of the students.

Benjamin Amante, Brittany, Hernandez, Alejandra, Lin, Emily, Martin, Amanda D., Zhao, Chao 01 April 2021 (has links) (PDF)
This research qualitatively explores the impacts of the Helen B. Landgarten Art therapy Clinic’s transition to art therapy telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this research was to explore the efficacy of interventions and the clinical themes that emerged as a result of telehealth art therapy services delivered to marginalized communities through the Helen B. Landgarten Art Therapy Clinic. Data that was collected includes anonymous surveys from administrators, teachers, and caregivers of those receiving services and facilitators of services, semi-structured interviews with administrators, teachers, and caregivers of those receiving services, as well as a focus group with facilitators of services. Through the analysis of data several findings suggest that art therapy telehealth can provide a safe space for engagement in mental health and be more accessible to marginalized communities. These findings potentially open new doors for further inquiry into art therapy telehealth.

Matens klimatpåverkan och näringsinnehåll : En kvantitativ studie om skillnader i matvanor mellan olika kosthållningar och kön bland högskolestudenter

Hakopian, Ani January 2017 (has links)
The food consumption of Swedish people is not sustainable from a climate perspective. For more sustainable consumption it requires a reduction of meat and dairy products. Previous studies show that it is possible to eat climate smart but still reach nutrition recommendations. The aim of this study is to investigate the students´ eating habits, nutritional content, impact on the climate, and study if there are differences between diets and between men and women. The study is based on quantitative approach with a cross sectional study through semi-structured interviews. The used method is retrospective 24-hour recall interviews to get at picture of the groups eating habits. The participants comprised of 21 students from Mälardalen University, eleven men and ten women with a distribution of seven participants in each diet. The result shows that lunch is the meal with the highest climate impact and nutritional content and that lunch has almost three times higher climate impact compared to breakfast. Individuals who eat both meat and dairy have the highest climate impact and protein intake, while vegans have the lowest climate impact and highest carbohydrate and energy intake. Vegetarians and vegans have the highest intake of vitamin C. Mens´ meals have the highest climate impact and nutritional content of protein, energy and carbohydrate, while women have a higher intake of vitamin C. The social ecological model is the theoretical perspective used to discuss the result.

IT-Instrument : En intervju-och observationsundersökning kring användandet av digitala instrument inom undervisningen i ämnena historia och engelska i en gymnasieskola

Gabriel, Issa Sten January 2014 (has links)
This essay is a study of the use of IT technology by teachers of English and History at a Swedish upper secondary school. It is based on four interviews and four observations. In my analysis of these I have made use of the theory of Social Shaping of technology, a theory which puts emphasis on a teacher´s purpose regarding the use of IT technology in order to empower the teaching process. As a researcher I aim to explore the reasoning on the part of the teacher and to that end I use the method of interviews and observations. This study shows different ways of using IT technology varying from one teacher to another. The use of laptops and Ipads by students is frequent, laptops being used for writing and information seeking and Ipads for taking pictures, the recording of students´ own performance before making presentations in class and for communication with teachers. In addition to the methods mentioned above, I have used - "Som-seende" and half-structured interviews.
