Experimental Analysis Of Curved Laminated Beam

Uzhan, Tevfik 01 May 2010 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF CURVED LAMINATED GLASS BEAM Uzhan, Tevfik M.S., Department of Engineering Sciences Supervisor: Prof. Dr. M. Z&uuml / lf&uuml / ASik May 2010, 33 Pages In this thesis, experimental studies are carried out on curved laminated glass beams to form a database for the scientists who may like to test their mathematical models. Beams which are only free to rotate and constrained in radial direction at both ends are tested to make the data available for further calculations. Test setup is prepared to minimize error that could occur due to test setup and data readings. Material testing machine and 4 channel data collecting machine are used to measure the signals at the strain gauges located over the glass beam. Within the range of force applied to the specimens, laminated curved beam shows linear behavior without any fracture. Data collected from the specimens are in conformance with each other. Results obtained from experiments are compared with the results obtained from the mathematical model developed by ASik and Dural (2006). As it is observed from the graphs presented, experimental results from the tests and numerical results from the mathematical model are in good agreement.

The Strucplot Framework: Visualizing Multi-way Contingency Tables with vcd

Meyer, David, Zeileis, Achim, Hornik, Kurt January 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This paper describes the `strucplot' framework for the visualization of multi-way contingency tables. Strucplot displays include hierarchical conditional plots such as mosaic, association, and sieve plots, and can be combined into more complex, specialized plots for visualizing conditional independence, GLMs, and the results of independence tests. The framework's modular design allows flexible customization of the plots' graphical appearance, including shading, labeling, spacing, and legend, by means of graphical appearance control (`grapcon') functions. The framework is provided by the R package vcd. (author's abstract) / Series: Research Report Series / Department of Statistics and Mathematics

Židanavičiūtė, Jurgita 03 March 2010 (has links)
Disertacijoje nagrinėjami kai kurie kategorinių požymių statistinės analizės uždaviniai – ryšių struktūros bei modelio parinkimo ir jo parametrų įvertinimo uždaviniai. Disertacijos tikslas – pasiūlyti ryšių struktūros tarp kategorinių požymių įvertinimo metodą tuo atveju, kai turime didelės dimensijos duomenų rinkinius ir išsklaidytas dažnių lenteles, t. y. kai daugumoje dažnių lentelės ląstelių yra mažas stebinių skaičius arba jos yra tuščios. Ši situacija iliustruojama DNR genetinių sekų statistine analize. Disertaciją sudaro įvadas, trys pagrindiniai skyriai, išvados, naudotos literatūros ir autoriaus publikacijų sąrašai. Įvadiniame skyriuje pristatoma tiriamoji problema ir jos aktualumas, aprašomas tyrimų objektas, formuluojamas darbo tikslas ir uždaviniai, aptariamas darbo mokslinis naujumas bei ginamieji teiginiai. Įvado pabaigoje pateikiami autoriaus pranešimai konferencijose disertacijos tema. Pirmame skyriuje pateikta kategorinių požymių statistinėje analizėje taikomų matematinių modelių apžvalga, šių modelių ryšys su Markovo laukų teorija ir Gibso skirstiniu. Antrame skyriuje atlikta statistinė analizė kai kurioms realioms DNR sekoms Markovo eilės jose įvertinimui bei pirminių ir antrinių DNR grandinių vijų palyginimui: pasiūlyta kategorinių duomenų statistinės analizės metodika, pagrįsta specialia stebimų duomenų forma, apibendrintu logit modeliu bei savirankos testais. Trečiame skyriuje išsklaidytų dažnių lentelės problemai spręsti pasiūlytas semiparametrinis... Metinių rievių deformacijos tyrimai medžiams senstant / Investigation on deformation of annual rings during obsolescence of tree

Mostauskis, Henrikas 06 June 2005 (has links)
Research report on deformation of annual rings is given in the thesis. Aim of the work - to perform an analysis of deformation of annual rings during obsolescence of tree. Tasks of the work - to perform a comparative analysis using borings made in 2004 and 1985 – 1986. To evaluate statistical reliability of deformation of annual rings. Object of the work - trees of Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Methods of the work – methods of verification of statistical hypotheses and analysis of variance were used for data processing. Content of the work – verification of hypothesis that annual rings of pine is shrinking during the obsolescence of trees. Results: - difference of annual rings width is statistically reliable at two point of the interval investigated: nearby bark and in the central part of the stem, at the margin where sapwood is converting to heartwood. The shrinking reaches 0.2 mm within 5 annual rings. The biggest influence on shrinking of annual rings has distance of annual rings from the bark and age of tree.

Distributed Algorithms for Networks Formation in a Scalable Internet of Things

Jedda, Ahmed 30 April 2014 (has links)
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a vision that aims at inter-connecting every physical identifiable object (or, a thing) via a global networking infrastructure (e.g., the legacy Internet). Several architectures are proposed to realize this vision; many of which agree that the IoT shall be considered as a global network of networks. These networks are used to manage wireless sensors, Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags, RFID readers and other types of electronic devices and integrate them into the IoT. A major requirement of the IoT architectures is scalability, which is the capability of delivering high performance even if the input size (e.g., number of the IoT objects) is large. This thesis studies and proposes solutions to meet this requirement, and specifically focuses on the scalability issues found in the networks of the IoT. The thesis proposes several network formation algorithms to achieve these objectives, where a network formation algorithm is an algorithm that, if applied to a certain network, optimizes it to perform its tasks in a more efficient manner by virtually deleting some of its nodes and/or edges. The thesis focuses on three types of networks found in the IoT: 1) RFID readers coverage networks; whose main task is to cover (i.e., identify, monitor, track, sense) IoT objects located in a given area, 2) readers inter-communications networks; whose main task is to guarantee that their nodes are able to inter-communicate with each other and hence use their resources more efficiently (the thesis specifically considers inter-communication networks of readers using Bluetooth for communications), and 3) Object Name Systems (ONS) which are networks of several inter-connected database servers (i.e., distributed database) whose main task is to resolve an object identifier into an Internet address to enable inter-communication via the Internet. These networks are chosen for several reasons. For example, the technologies and concepts found in these networks are among the major enablers of the IoT. Furthermore, these networks solve tasks that are central to any IoT architecture. Particularly, the thesis a) studies the data and readers redundancy problem found in RFID readers coverage networks and introduces decentralized RFID coverage and readers collisions avoidance algorithms to solve it, b) contributes to the problem of forming multihop inter-communications networks of Bluetooth-equipped readers by proposing decentralized time-efficient Bluetooth Scatternet Formation algorithms, and c) introduces a geographic-aware ONS architecture based on Peer-To-Peer (P2P) computing to overcome weaknesses found in existing ONS architectures.

Bilhares planares/

Andrade, Rodrigo Manoel Dias. January 2012 (has links)
The main goal of this work is to study the dynamical behavior of a point-like (dimensionless) particle in the interior of planar regions. Such systems are known in the literature as billiards. We're going to present the principal concepts of those systems and we'll see that such system turns the probability measure invariant, which allows us to apply the Ergodic Theory to billiard problems / Mestre

Introduction to statistics and probability: A contextualized approach in students' everyday lives / IntroduÃÃo à estatÃstica e probabilidade : uma abordagem contextualizada no cotidiano dos alunos

Rafael Luz Duarte 07 August 2013 (has links)
The statistics from very ancient times has its importance and now even more in fields such as research and research prices of intent to vote in an election. The methods of teaching mathematics have also been developed to adapt to changing students' behavior, but are not enough new approaches to teach any content requires a theoretical well beyond what the students have prior knowledge, since the teacher should at least try to get the student to think beyond what is proposed under the initial plan. Therefore, we begin covering the theory of probability to serve as the basis for readers who may be interested in the practice of this new approach methodology of descriptive statistics, based on students' everyday lives, their experiences both at school and in the environment that they live and socialize. This methodology was applied to an entire class of 3rd year of high school E.E.M. EliezÃr de Freitas GuimarÃes and two others remained traditional, showing satisfactory results in yield, thus learning.
