Ensino-aprendizagem em um contexto dinâmico - o caso de planejamento de transportes / Teaching-learning in a dynamic context – the case of transportation planning

Márcia de Andrade Pereira 17 March 2005 (has links)
The fast changes produced by the technological development and by the globalization process highlight the need for a new profile of an engineer that can meet the demands of the labor market and of the society. The emergence of new techniques and analyses tools is a natural consequence of that technological and scientific development and it should be immediately incorporated into courses with a strong technological basis, such as Engineering. The challenge to do so is the time constraint imposed to disciplines, which can no longer be increased to include additional topics. However, the hypothesis of this research is that although the new technologies are part of the problem, they can also provide the resources needed for its solution. In such a context, a new paradigm for the teaching learning process is required, in which not only the potential role of the computer itself and of the tools associated to are acknowledged, but also the different learning styles of the students should be taken into account. Therefore, the objective of this research work is to search and evaluation of alternatives for adapting the teaching-learning process to the context of fast and constant innovations currently observed. This is achieved by using multimedia resources for exploring concepts of constructivism, tested with the inclusion of innovative concepts in a Transportation Planning discipline. This experiment was meant to evaluate if the students would be able to grasp new topics along with the long-established contents with the proposed approach. The traditional paradigm was then combined with several pedagogical alternatives (team work, educational CD-ROM, research on Internet, WebCT, etc.) in a Civil Engineering attended by third-year students. The results found indicate that the alternatives considered have contributed to some extent, to the improvement of the traditional teaching method, bringing positive outcomes to the learning process. Therefore, one can conclude that this study brought a valuable contribution for Transportation Engineering education, given that the teaching-learning process was improved while making possible the inclusion of new topics even in a very inflexible grid course.

Transforming distance learning in South Africa with emerging technologies: the academic view.

Erasmus, Margaretha. January 2008 (has links)

&nbsp /

Within a context of rapid technological change and shifting market conditions, the South African education system is challenged with providing increased education opportunities without increased budgets. Many educational institutions are answering the challenge without increased budgets. Several educational institutions are answering the challenge by developing distance education programs through information technology, but in the case of one institution, strategic intentions involving information technology and distance learning have not been fulfilled. ESTUDO DE CASO: MÍDIAS E RECURSOS TECNOLÓGICOS NA FORMAÇÃO INICIAL EM CURSO DE GRADUAÇÃO NA UFSM / CASE STUDY: MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGICAL RESOURCES ON INITIAL TRAINING IN A UFSM S GRADUATION COURSE

Luiz, Silvia Pagel Floriano 19 February 2013 (has links)
The insertion and use of media, in educational settings, increased greatly in recent years, in Brazil, due to the technological advancement and the need for schools to innovate with varying strategies to stimulate and motivate students to the teaching-learning process. Given the above, this study aims to examine the pedagogical use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in initial training in a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education of the Center for Physical Education and Sports in the Federal University of Santa Maria. The research, featured as a study case, and the analysis of activities in development, also intends to contribute with suggestions for pedagogical action, which can be developed in the discipline of Physical Education and New ICTs, during the sixth semester of the Course s curriculum, based on geotechnologycal resources such as Google Maps and Google Earth. In addition to the work undertaken in the discipline, the activities of the extension project are also analyzed in partnership with the municipality of Santa Maria and as part of the discipline. For data analysis, it was considered all activities implemented since 2007, the responses of nine students interviewed and the interview with the teacher responsible for the course. After this stage, the pedagogical proposal was drafted and entitled "Treasure Hunt", to be introduced in the discipline, which can contribute to the development of content, carried out at Masters studies in Geomatics which have given rise to this work. We realized that the activities performed during the five years in which the discipline exists, the media are used pedagogically in Physical Education and that geotechnologycal resources can be effective teaching tools to help the development of the content for the initial training. The activities are developed positively every school year to encourage students to reason, for those whom used it and started to regard ICT as a teaching resource that can and should be deployed to improve the lessons. The lack of continuity of the proposal, to the public schools, however, is still a problem to be overcomed, both from the University, as the municipality, as well as a fort in the discipline, to break the resistance of some academics to the new, to the unknown.

Given this situation, we conducted a qualitative research, as Lüdke and Andrew (1986) through a case study in a public school in the city of São Carlos - SP, with two active teachers in elementary education from the early years, with in order to answer the following question: What ideas have influenced the organization of pedagogical practices with technological resources of teachers in the early years of elementary school? Data were grouped into two angles: 1) the design of technological resources for teachers; and 2) Characterization of teaching practices with the use of technological resources. Our analyzes received theoretical background , mainly from Maurice Tardif , Maria Luiza Belloni , Vani Kenski Moreira , Vieira Pinto , Lion , Bernadette Gatti , Marcelo Garcia. Generally the teachers investigated using resources such as radio and television, which are dominated by them. Resources such as computers and data projectors are used by teachers with more fear; since these are equipments that they do not dominate. These and other aspects lead us to realize the importance of training teachers to use technological resources in a way that leverages the educational process, promoting student learning. Yet conducted a bibliographic study on digital database of thesis and dissertations to articulate the data found by analyzing the concepts and practices of the two teachers.

The general aim of this thesis was to analyze the importance of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) as a didactic resource for Physical Education classes from a process of in-service training for public school teachers (municipal and state) in a semipresencial course. For that, the thesis was structured in four articles. The first three are bibliographic studies that have helped to broaden the knowledge about the subject and the analysis of the researches being carried out in this field. Such knowledge was used for the preparation and implementation of the training course. Article I presents the information from the academic and scientific publications about the use of DICT as a didactic and evaluative resource in the last 11 years (2005-2015), which were analyzed in the light of the typology proposed by Coll, Mauri and Onrubia (2010). We found that these publications have more research on the use of technologies as mediators of the teaching and learning jointly developed by teachers and students, featuring the type of use 4. Knowing these types of uses and identify them in scientific studies allowed an expansion of the use of technologies in the educational environment. In Article II we analyze the information coming from publications regarding the use of DICT in teacher training in the last 11 years (2005 to 2015). We have identified that most of the publications found relate to the continuing education of Basic Education teachers in the distance modality, being promoted by public agencies. The studies presented a diversity of results in different points of the formation, both in relation to the structuring of the courses and in the implications in the pedagogical work of the teachers. In addition, they showed the importance of expanding the knowledge and skills of these educational agents. On Article III, the objective was to verify the contributions of theses and dissertations published in the last four years (2013 to 2016) for the incorporation of DICT in Physical Education. The results indicated that most papers study the media, using this term without discriminating them, followed by different digital technologies. In relation to the themes, the use of DICT for the teaching of Physical Education was the most studied, pointing out pedagogical possibilities of technologies produced by researchers and those already existing. Finally, Article IV developed the main objective of this thesis pointed out at the beginning of the abstract. This research was guided by the Qualitative Research, in which a course of in-service formation, entitled "Information and Communication Technologies in School Physical Education", was attended and analyzed, with a total of 40 hours. The course was completed by nine teachers from three municipal teaching networks. This process was analyzed from the class diaries, the evaluation evaluative questionnaire and the experience report of each of the participants, which were discussed in 3 different categories: Course; Use of technologies; Difficulties and overcoming. In general, we verified that the teachers managed to cross the limits and the difficulties of the everyday for the integration of the technologies in their pedagogical practice. We consider that the participants' approach to the technologies, the experience of developing and implementing classes and the motivation for the continuity of the use of DICT were the most significant results. Also, the participants were given the opportunity to learn about some of the TDICs, increasing their level of technological expertise and reflecting on these tools, as well as the beginning of their use in educational practice. On a macro scale, we evaluated that this study contributed to the area of Physical Education, specifically to the school, for bringing a dense revision of the literature and indicatives for future teacher training regarding the use of DICT in teaching the contents of body culture, favoring the contextualized and critical teaching.

Transforming distance learning in South Africa with emerging technologies: the academic view

Erasmus, Margaretha January 2008 (has links)
Magister Commercii - MCom / Within a context of rapid technological change and shifting market conditions, the South African education system is challenged with providing increased education opportunities without increased budgets. Many educational institutions are answering the challenge without increased budgets. Several educational institutions are answering the challenge by developing distance education programs through information technology, but in the case of one institution, strategic intentions involving information technology and distance learning have not been fulfilled. At its most basic level, distance education takes place when a teacher and student(s) are separated by physical distance. Technology, often in combination with face-to-face communication, can be used to bridge instructional gaps. It can be argued that modes of teaching and learning are changing, and we must redefine what is meant by the word “student”. For example: what should we really call an adult involved in life long learning? The term “student” seems inappropriate. These types of programs can provide adults with a second chance at tertiary education, reach those disadvantaged by limited time, distance or physical disability, and update the knowledge base of workers at their places of employment. The aim of this research is to determine and understand the growing role of information technology in promoting quality assurance in higher education, and in expanding the education opportunities and workplace learning through the use of distance learning. This work investigates how distance learning can be improved by making use of IT with particular regard to the underprivileged, and the potential contribution to national transformation. This is summarized in the research question: “How can we improve distance learning in South Africa with emerging technologies?” review of the literature, interviews with experts, and reviews of conference papers provided the principle inputs. The academic literatures were supplemented by studies of papers from the Department of Education and other non-academic sources. Based on the reading of the literature, and the views of experts, questionnaires and field experiments were designed and applied to a statistically significant population of respondents. A combination of statistical analysis and content analysis of open questions from the questionnaires lead to comparative evidence about different learning styles and different communities of learners, and the extent to which different learning styles are effective for the different kinds of learners.

By the side of possibilities, there is the need to critically reflect on the government decision to finance, and even to incite distance education, as a more economic way to achieve, within different time and space, the greatest quantity of the population, trying to fill the gaps of the Brazilian school education. The research was made in the Biology Bachelor Course offered by the Pernambuco University (UPE), in the context of the Presential Support Pole of the Paraiba State University, located in the city of Campina Grande. Along this study, we intend to analyze the evaluation practice and the instruments of valuation available in the virtual environment of learning (AVA), used by the former professors in the learning evaluation of the contents offered by the reference course. The relevance of the discussion is to reflect about the results of distance education in the initial of the professor training. To perceive the possibilities and limitations concerning the technological resources available at the educational process, especially to the evaluation practice, is primordial in order to comprehend the contents of learning that can be explored by the professors and which is the dialogical relation that is firmed between professor, preceptor and student, in favor of the learning development and an effective and meaningful education. The qualitative research had the symbolic interacionism as a methodological-theoretical approach. We gathered informations through institutional documents, documental records, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Treating and analyzing the data we used the content analysis method (Bardin, 1977). As a theoretical basis, we relied on authors such as Zabala (1998, 1999), Aretio (2002), Hoffmann (2003, 2005), Silva, M. (2003, 2006), Belloni (2006), Luckesi (2008), Silva, J. (2008), Vasconcelos (2008) and Domingos (2009). It was evident the need to reflect about the educational practice of the professors and preceptors responsible for the academic distance learning, concerning the evaluation of the learning contents in a autonomous and innovatory way, identifying its influence in the development of values which are considered vital to a complete professor upbringing. The evaluation in a mediator approach is necessary to the reality of an online classroom, because of its character to promote the improvement of the action of the one who is teaching and the one Who is learning in an interactive, collaborative and cooperative perspective, seeking a transformative praxis. Involved in this formation, the bachelors will be able to promote the development of capacities and skills necessary to the complete learning of theirs future students, certifying the education for life, which is a perspective that includes the knowing, the knowing how to do and how to be, a living being with sustainable relations with the others and with nature / A educa??o a dist?ncia na sociedade contempor?nea vem se expandido, sobretudo na oferta de cursos de forma??o inicial docente.

Almeida, Ismael de 16 March 2017 (has links)
The new information technologies are invading the school space, quickly, requiring a new attitude of the educator and bringing new possibilities to education. With this, the continuous formation is configured as an important way to put the teacher in contact with this new reality. This research aims to understand if the teacher is making use of his right to continued education in the state of Sergipe and how, and how much, this is contributing to the improvement of the quality of teaching. For this, it is intended to dialogue with teachers of Science and Biology on aspects the use of technologies in the classroom and the possible obstacles that are occurring to the insertion of the same in the school environment, thus allowing to clarify some questions and to advance in the solution of the problems That surround this universe. In its methodological outline, the research was divided into three stages: documentary analysis about continuing education courses in Sergipe; State of the art regarding the subject and interview with teachers of Sciences and Biology that act in the state education network. It was verified that there are public policies of continuing education for teachers in technologies, however, many teachers are not yet looking for this training. In the state of Sergipe, continuing education is mainly through the ProInfo Integrado program of the federal government, and through courses offered by the State Secretariat of Education itself. The vast majority of teachers interviewed recognize the importance of technology in the classroom, but says that it is not yet technologically literate. In general, it is possible to infer that there are enough places in the courses of continuing education in technology, however, there are still some obstacles for the participation of teachers, since they are not released from teaching activities to attend them and are not encouraged either To perform them, and it is necessary to find mechanisms that can attract these teachers to the continuous formation, thus allowing a greater use of the technologies in the classroom. Some have knowledge about this subject, but it is not yet enough to transform their practice through the insertion of technologies. The schools have technological resources like multimedia projector, television, internet, however, in small number for the great demand. Making use of technologies in the classroom requires preparation of teachers to explore them, otherwise it will only represent the exchange of simpler didactic resources by more complex ones.
