Metoder för att sända meddelanden från QT Systems fastighetssystem till smarta telefoner / Methods for sending messages from QT Systems' real estate system to smartphones

Jernberg, Johan January 2016 (has links)
For a long time companies have been able to reach out to customers by traditionally methods such as SMS or e-mail. The huge rise of popularity in smartphones and social media now makes information more important than ever. With this there are newer ways for companies to communicate with their customers such as push-notifications by native apps and browsers or by social media. This project was ordered by QT Systems with the purpose to give the company a better view of their possibilities when it comes to reaching out with information to their customers. The goal with the project was to find the best method for allowing QT Systems' real estate system to notify their users of certain events and to show that this method can be implemented in this system. During the course of this project it was decided that push-notifications by a native app would be the best solution. A ”proof-of-concept” which shows that this method can be implemented in QT Systems' real estate system and that it can be used for at least Android and iOS smartphones was also done.

Rooth, Thomas, Szilagyi, Peter January 2012 (has links)
Smartphones represent a growing part of ourdaily private and professionallife. Throughour smartphones we’re constantly exposed to large amounts of information via apps installed on the phone. IT consultants and developers are continuously working to develop apps for many different purposes and they face a daunting task when they design these apps to meet their customer needs. The study aims to investigate the type of information that customers demand. How this information should be designed for use in apps on smartphones and to explain why a certain look or content amount of information can be good or bad to distribute via apps. The study was conducted with a qualitative method approach where multiple informants where interviewed. The informants are IT consultants and developers who work with large companies, primarily in Sweden. The results show that the type of information customers are asking for is of the type "Just-in-time", that developers should not present too much information in one app, and that the information should be very specific and effective.

Interaktiva radiotjänster : - en applikation för mobila Androidenheter

Gräslund, Andreas January 2011 (has links)
The increase in sales of the so called smart phones has meant that there has also been a requirement to determine new applications for which they are suitable. One of the largest platforms for smart phones is Android and the task of this thesis is to develop an application for a company that wishes to create interactive radio for the Internet. In addition to ordinary radio features, the company would like the application to be able to present images and a small web page called Canvas. The overall aim ,of this thesis, is to build a fully functional media player that is compatible with the majority of the commonly used Android based mobile units. To fulfill the overall aim, nine explicit goals were targeted. The first stage involved studying solutions for each goal and the second stage involved implementing them in the application and the stage involved evaluating the application by enlisting the help of an expert. An application was built that allows the user to choose a radio channel and listen to it whilst interacting with the canvas. The application was built in modules, each of which had its own task, for example dealing with the web services or the sound. The expert tested the application on three mobile units and answered a series of questions regarding the explicit goals. The expert considered that all the goals had been achieved , which can thus be interpreted that a well-functioning media player compatible with Android based units had been created. Keywords: Android, compatibility, web services, Java, smart telephone-down, media players

Nilsson, Emma January 2022 (has links)
Metod: En litteratursökning på PubMed med sökorden ”smartphone and dopamine release”, ”smartphone and dopamine”, ”smartphone and mri and addiction” utfördes. / Introduction and aim: The use of smartphones is increasing around the globe. Problematic use of smartphones is being more common. Therefore, the aim of this literature study was to investigate the relationship between smartphone use and physiological alterations in the reward system of the brain. Method: A systematic literature search using PubMed was conducted using the words ”smartphone and dopamine release”, ”smartphone and dopamine”, ”smartphone and mri and addiction”. According to inclusion criteria, peer-reviewed articles containing studies about problematic smart-phone use and physiological alterations in the reward system of the brain, no more than 5 years old were included. Results: Significant correlations between smart-phone use and activity of transmitter substances in the reward system of the brain were found. Discussion: This literature study found some support that significant correlations between problematic smart phone use and alterations in the reward system of the brain exists, but the results were somehow inconclusive. Conclusion: In conclusion, problematic smartphone use seems to be related to physiological alterations in the reward system of the brain. However, more studies with larger sample sizes are needed for more reliable results. Also, future studies should distinguish between different problematic smart phone use, for example, gambling addiction and social media.

Smarta telefoner -ett digitalt koppel? : En fallstudie om Information Overload i organisationer / Smartphones and Information Overload in organizations

Hammarskjöld, Madeleine, Jakobsson, Maria January 2015 (has links)
In the digitized world many organizations experience a large flow of information. To sort and manage all the information can be difficult. Individuals may experience a phenomenon called ”Information Overload”, due to the fact that the information flow is too extensive. There are various reasons why individuals are affected by this phenomenon. One reason may be due to the individual´s personality, another reason could also be the increased use of smartphones. The use of smartphones has had the effect that individuals are online and available even during therir leisure time. The extended use of smartphones has led to that it is possible that individuals are experiencing an increasing stress. In this study, we will investigate individuals experience of ”Information Overload” that may be associated with organizations use of smartphones.

Near ultrasonic close range communication for modern smartphones

Alvarez Jörgensen, Kristian, Chlebek, Michael January 2017 (has links)
NFC is a technology that allows close-range communication between mobile devices. Unfortunately, not all modern smartphones have the required API’s or hardware to utilize it. This thesis seeks therefore to develop a viable alternative to NFC for close range communication (less than 10 cm) between mobile smart phones. The goal is to evaluate the feasibility of using a novel scheme that utilizes near ultrasonic frequencies for close range communication for both Android and iOS.An iPhone and an Android device were used to test our proposed scheme. Range test were preformed on a quiet and noisy environment (food court in a shopping mall), and an interference test was done in the quiet environment. The scheme was shown to work in the tested quiet and noisy environment for ranges less than 1 cm. In the noisy environment, significant data loss happened at 5 cm for the tested android device, while data was somewhat reliably received at up to 10 cm in a quiet environment among both tested devices. Our tests also show that concurrently communicating devices spaced at least 110 cm away will not interfere with each other. Our findings show that the proposed scheme could be a viable alternative for close range communication. By employing an error correcting code, tolerance to data loss could be improved. Using a different modulation technique is also advisable in order to improve the data transfer rate. For future work, we suggest testing the near ultrasonic capabilities of a wider array of devices in order to determine the usefulness of the proposed scheme.

Smartphone physics – a smart approach to practical work in science education? : Experiences from a Swedish upper secondary school

Svensson, Tomas January 2018 (has links)
In the form of teacher didactical design research, this work addresses a didactical issue encountered during physics teaching in a Swedish upper secondary school. A need for renewed practical laboratory work related to Newtonian mechanics is met by proposing and designing an activity based on high- speed photography using the nowadays omnipresent smartphone, thus bringing new technology into the classroom. The activity – video analysis of the collision physics of football kicks – is designed and evaluated by following a didactical design cycle. The work elaborates on how the proposed laboratory activity relates to the potential and complications of experimental activities in science education, as described in the vast literature on the topic. It is argued that the use of smartphones constitutes an interesting use of new technology for addressing known problems of practical work. Of particular interest is that smartphones offer a way to bridge the gap between the everyday life of students and the world of physics experiments (smartphones are powerful pocket laboratories). The use of smartphones also avoids using unfamiliar laboratory equipment that is known to hinder focus on intended content, while at the same time exploring a powerful tool for data acquisition and analysis. Overall, the use of smartphones (and computers) in this manner can be seen as the result of applying Occam’s razor to didactics: only familiar and readily available instrumentation is used, and skills learned (movie handling and image analysis) are all educationally worthwhile. Although the activity was judged successful, a systematic investigation of learning outcome was out of scope. This means that no strong conclusions can be drawn based on this limited work. Nonetheless, the smartphone activity was well received by the students and should constitute a useful addition to the set of instructional approaches, especially since variation is known to benefit learning. The main failure of the design was an overestimation of student prior knowledge on motion physics (and its application to image data). As a consequence, the activity took required more time and effort than originally anticipated. No severe pitfalls of smartphone usage were identified, but it should be noted that the proposed activity – with its lack of well-defined results due to variations in kick strength – requires that the teacher is capable of efficiently analysing multiple student films (avoiding the feedback process to become overwhelmingly time consuming). If not all student films are evaluated, the feedback to the students may become of low quality, and misconceptions may pass under the radar. On the other hand, given that programming from 2018 will become compulsory, an interesting development of the activity would be to include handling of images and videos using a high-level programming language like Python.

Jaans, Malin, Lilja, Emma January 2020 (has links)

Menu anchor interactors in mobile website contexts : The perceived usability of menu navigation on three different types of websites / Menyinteraktörer i mobila webbsidekontexter : Upplevd användbarhet av menynavigation på tre olika typer av webbsidor

Madejska, Annika, Persson, Alexander January 2019 (has links)
In 2018, there were 3.6 billion mobile internet users worldwide, which shows that digital designers have to tackle navigational patterns and menu anchor interactors for smartphone-sized screens early in their projects. As user satisfaction is crucial for the success of a website, and as successful navigation through a menu system is imperative to user satisfaction, the menu system is a key component in the UI. This study concerned three types of menu anchor interactors in smartphone UIs (Transient, Top persistent, and Navigation hub), on three website types (Single service, Brand, and Service directory). The goal was to investigate what influence the website type has on the user’s preferences of menu anchor itneractors. The theoretical base is previous research on menu systems in graphical UIs. The study was done by a questionnaire where the participants were presented images of three different menu anchor interactors on three different website types, and asked to score the assumed helpfulness of the menu anchor interactor from one to seven on a Likert scale. In addition, they were asked to clarify their scoring in a qualitative response. The key findings are that users prefer menu anchor interactors that display several navigation links, and that there are indications that the Top persistent menu anchor interactor works best on the Service directory website type, while Single service and Brand website types seem to benefit from a Navigation hub. However, the results also show the importance of studying UI components in their full UI context, as the whole UI affects the perceived usability of the menu anchor interactor.

Christensen, My, Pihlgren, Johanna January 2012 (has links)
This research focuses on the issue of how to best structure text on a Smartphone screen. The factors involved in this research are text size, white space, text and line lengths, serif and sans serif fonts, pictures in text and contrast.  The methodology of our research is based on a normative Swedish able-bodied person, as well as on relevant literature, personal analyses, interviews with people in the trade, an online survey, and a test performed with a focus group. The results are that a text written for Smartphones is best structured with: several paragraph divisions made with blank lines, with pictures where the picture has an informational purpose, and text length based on category of subject. The picture should be placed above the body text. Longer texts should be set with a scroll-function. Contrast is of great importance on mobile phones as texts can be read properly even when set in negative. In addition, using serif or sans serif is of no importance. According to the results both serif and sans serif can be read without difficulties on a Smartphone. Text size should be slightly enlarged in relation to the default settings on the mobile device. Since word division is not supported on screen, short words are recommended when possible to prevent a highly uneven right end.
