millennium in 'n oorgangstydperk.

The part the Dutch Reformed Church played in the sin of apartheid, can be directly ascribed to the legitimizing of the apartheid ideology. With reference to the above, the church preached an apartheid theology, in spite of serious warnings from within its own ranks. The misery of the 'suffering humanity' in our country is a direct result of apartheid. This study highlights the immense importance resting upon the Dutch Reformed Church to once again fulfil its diaconal role with reference to those who suffer.
This study investigates the transformation power of the metaphor as integral part of the cognitive- and language systems of the human being. The awareness of the implied contradictions between the applied and non-applied parts in the meaning of the word creates a tension in metaphorical speech.
The latter endows the metaphor with a dynamic power. The preacher may then apply creative metaphors in the sermon. He is therefore a creator of the metaphor. The effective use of the metaphor in preaching will enable him to empower his audience to be servants like Jesus. The effective use of metaphors in preaching will help to activate believers and will assist the diaconal church in relaying its prophetic message of salvation to those who suffer.
Through the active conduct and unity of the church, those who suffer
experience the salvation of the living Christ. This study implies that the
preacher should approach the text from his own experience, combined with an existentional knowledge of the needs of the people in need, to the text.
The study highlights the creative role of the preacher as creator of the
metaphor, and the activation of believers in the context of those who suffer, so that the church may fulfill its diaconal role. / Practical Theology / D.Th. (Practical theology)

The effect of a training programme on the attitude of managers towards performance managementTeubes, Susanna Wilhelmina 08 1900 (has links)
Text in English, summary in English and Afrikaans / The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of a performance management
training programme on the attitudes of managers towards performance management. The
research question was whether a performance management training intervention would
change managers' attitude towards performance management. The respondent group
consisted of 101 managers who responded to an advertisement and willingly participated in a
performance management training programme. A quasi-experimental research design was
used in which a pre-test and post-test was applied to the respondent group. The managers in
the respondent group completed the same assessment instrument (or questionnaire) before
and six months after the performance management training. The results of the empirical
analysis indicated that female managers felt less positive about performance management
than their male counterparts. No statistically significant change in the attitude and
competency of managers towards performance management was found after they had attended the performance management training programme.
navorsingsvraag was of 'n opleidingsintervensie in prestasiebestuur, bestuurders se houdings
prestasiebestuuropleidingsprogram. 'n Kwasie-eksperimentele navorsingsontwerp is gebruik
bestuurders minder positief oor prestasiebestuur gevoel het as hul manlike kollegas.
Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

The empirical study focussed on the manifestation of organisational inertia within the
target organisation.
Results confirmed that respondents are in favour of change initiatives but that the
stimulation thereof do not exist. Subordinates are not encouraged to show creativity.
The organisation demonstrates an incapability to respond to environmental changes

Thesis (DPhil (Political Science))--Stellenbosch University, 2008. / For the sake of continued social stability in South Africa it is imperative that the country’s so-called
“partial transition” is completed through a process of meaningful socio-economic
transformation that addresses the consequences of its history of unequal development.
Transformation can thus be viewed as one of the primary challenges in the economic and
socio-political landscape in South Africa. It is the task of social sciences to contribute to the
general understanding of our social reality through systematic analysis and thereby promoting
effective responses to social challenges.
Current literature on the transformation process in South Africa focuses almost exclusively on
the country’s political transition (as a change in power relationships) and analyses of socioeconomic
inequality and descriptions of the successes and failures of policy measures that
have been adopted since 1994 to promote the redistribution of economic resources. Three
shortcomings in current literature on and the theoretical analysis of transformation were
identified, namely: (i) the apparent disregard of the status implications of the redistribution of
political and economic resources, (ii) the absence of analyses that problematise the
transformation process as such (and specifically the sector and industry specific initiatives
initiated to promote Black Economic Empowerment), and (iii) the lack of prescriptive
guidelines for the management of transformation processes.
It is the primary goal of this study to develop a theoretical framework in terms of which socioeconomic
transformation can be analysed. Socio-economic transformation is described as a
potentially contentious process and it is shown that the institutionalised and negotiated nature
of transformation in the South African context allows us to interpret it in terms of theories of
social conflict. Theory from the field of conflict studies, and specifically Social Identity Theory,
is used to analyse the impact of the redistribution of power and material resources on the
status of social groups and the concurrent implications for inter-group relationships. The
theoretical model is also used to identify specific circumstances under which the stability of
social relationships can be maintained amidst the redistribution of power and resources – i.e.:
circumstances in which parity of esteem is maintained through mutual acceptance of the
principles that underlie the distribution of resources, power and other sources of social status. A prescriptive model for the management of conflict that satisfies these requirements is
developed from the theory of conflict transformation and is presented as a model for the
management of transformation. This model suggests the achievement of social justice as the
desired outcome of conflict management. In the absence of a satisfactory definition of social
justice in the existing theory, John Rawls’s conceptualisation of justice is suggested as an
analytical elaboration of the theory.
A case study, namely the negotations on the Wine Industry Charter and the transformation of
a key institution in the South African wine industry, is used to illustrate how the chosen
theoretical model (and specifically the theoretical assumptions regarding the need for positive
self-esteem) can by used by analysts to interpret information processes. The case study is
also used to illustrate how the elements of the chosen prescriptive model for the management
of transformation has been utilised. The study confirms the fact that the chosen theoretical
model for the management of transformation was utilised in the formal transformation process
in the wine industry (and specifically in the successful development of the Wine Industry
Charter and the negotiations regarding the structure and nature of the South African Wine
Council).

Selfverwysing as supervisieproses : ontwikkeling van die interne supervisorMeyer, Gert Frederick 09 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / Die objek van studie in hierdie proefskrif is ietwat
ongewoon.
klient(e) 'n unieke patroonverband bestaan.
In so 'n situasie kan selfsupervisie,
Selfsupervisie
plaas die klem op die psigoterapeut as persoon en as terapeut;
In
asook diepere selfkennis en is 'n man waardeur ander
Hoofstuk
13 plaas selfsupervisie as selfevalueringsmetode binne die
psigoterapeutiese beroep. / The object of this study somewhat unusual. The study is
an autobiography based on the assumption that there exists an
unique patterned connection between the psychotherapist, his
history, science (ethnography and second-order cybernetics), and
his clients.
Due to distance or financial problems, a rural
psychotherapist cannot experience the privilege of supervision
with an external supervisor. In such a situation selfsupervision
could play an important role in the self-development,
because it includes a search of self that will lead to more
effectiveness in psychotherapy. Self-supervision focuses on the
psychotherapist as a person and therapist, who he is, where he
comes from, and in what direction he, as a psychotherapist, is
developing within the psychotherapeutic process.
It is important to any psychotherapist to strive towards a
higher level of psychotherapy. This implies a process of selfinvestigation,
dissection and self-evaluation. This process was
conducted by means of diary entries in which the psychotherapist
interpreted his daily experiences and events in terms of his
past. This places the psychotherapist, with his family history
and current interpersonal situation, as intrinsic parts of
himself, in the foreground. In this process the psychotherapist
takes centre stage with emphasis on his responsibility concerning
the process of self-supervision.
The problems addressed by this personally coloured,
scientific study, are problems that the psychotherapist
identified through the process of self-supervision and
introspection. Such introspection leads to a deeper personal
knowledge which the psychotherapist can use to his own benefit
but also to the benefit of his family and client system.
This study is an attempt to identify a new way of research.
It is comprehensive and leads to personal fulfilment and deeper
self-knowledge and is also a method by which other
psychotherapists could discover themselves and their worlds. It
is a slow and painful process.
Chapters 1 to 4 comprise of the theoretical rationale of the
study and chapters 5 to 12 depict the history of the
psychotherapist. Chapter 13 situates self-supervision as a
method of self-evaluation in the profession of psychotherapy. / Psychology / D. Litt. et Phil.
