The litterary issues of biblical transtextuality and religion in Pierre Jean Jouve's novelistic discourseCatoën, Dorothée 04 December 2009 (has links)
This thesis intends to investigate the place occupied by biblical transtextuality in Pierre Jean Jouve’s novelisticdiscourse, and in particular the literary issues that the omnipresence of the Scriptures entails. Because it is thefoundation of a dogmatic religion, and also because it proves to be a work with literary qualities, the Bible is afundamental text which particularly influenced both the man and the writer. As it is shown in the way the poetnovelist makes use of it, when stirring up either the notions of rereading or rewriting. So the author’s favourite themes, frequently closely akin to those of the Bible, are studied from a specific angle:because the act of writing allows him in his turn to become a creator, Pierre Jean Jouve takes up the motifs and thesymbols of the sacred text, in order to fit them to his novelistic universe. The generic components moreover showthis specific desire: the structuring of spaces, as well as that of temporality, serving an act of creation mimeticwith God’s. Nevertheless, it is through the characters that the notion of transtextuality makes sense and developsto turn each novel into a spiritual path combining self-discovery, destruction and quest for salvation. His works can be read as pieces of writing requiring meditation, reflection and interpretation. The place left to thereader attests to the great freedom Pierre Jean Jouve grants to the latter, even if the writing of his novels seems tobe essentially turned towards the author. The act of creation becomes a means of personal, artistic and religiousdevelopment, with the ultimate aim of getting closer to the sacred spheres.

I Seek Different Ways : De homeriska sångerna i Madeline Millers perspektivScherman, Victor January 2023 (has links)
The essay compares Madeline Miller's books The Song of Achilles and Circe to their antique originals: the Iliad and the Odyssey. The main focus is the relationship the characters in Miller's books hold to their homeric counterparts and the evolution of the heroic and masculinity ideals they represent. The ideals they carry are examined through western history and compared to Miller's contemporary autorship to observe what adaptations are being performed. The paper considers the texts through Genettes terms of transtextual relationships, including hypotextual, hypertextual relationships and transpositioning to examine the changes in both character and theme. The results show that some aspects of the heroes and theme remain intact through Millers books, while particularly the masculine and heroic aspects differ and that they do so intentionally through the media of historical fiction.

The objective of this paper is to examine narrative techniques used by the Swedish author Stig Claesson, especially his transformations of texts out of the own authorship into new stories. In order to achieve my objective, I will specifically study two novels; Rosine (1991) and Efter oss syndafloden (2002) and the method practiced will be intentional reading, as described by H. Porter Abbott. For the analysis I will, with the complementary support of Abbott and Beata Agrell, turn to Gerard Genette and his theories concerning transformation and transtextuality, in particular its sub idiom hypertextuality. As a result of my analysis, various subgroups of transformation used by Claesson are identified, but also proven is how Claesson, largely by utilizing two of them; transvocalisation and transvaluation, provides the reader with the implied author of his own choice. Moreover, my investigation demonstrates how Claesson when reusing narratives already told by himself, i.e. transforming hypotexts of his own into hypertexts, recycles characters; reprocesses master as well as sub plots; alters trivial details; re-interprets events; switches from one narrative view to another, all well documented techniques described by Genette as elements of transformation.

Néstor Perlongher, une écriture en transe / Néstor Perlongher, writing in tranceCid Alarcón, Jorge Ignacio 22 November 2013 (has links)
Néstor Perlongher (1949 Buenos Aires - Sao Paulo in 1992) is the author of a work of impressive themes and tones. His poetry is based on various linguistic operations such as mixing levels of language, the use of jargon and regional slang, the exaltation of the suggestive power of sound, the proliferation of ambiguous references in the context of an aesthetic Neo-Baroque, among others. We believe that his writing is one of the most interesting work in the field of literature Argentine neo-baroque, considering that his work is radical to the materiality of the linguistic sign and build a vision that combines neo-baroque aesthetics with historical facts. This study proposes to read the work of Nestor Perlongher in the light of the theoretical concepts of the Cuban neo-baroque and post-structuralist philosophers. The analysis of this issue is made through the identification and description of the symbolic and semantic operations of artificiality process that allows the inclusion of these works in the style "neobarroso".

Tramas, teias e jogos dramáticos em Edward Albee, Patrick Marber e Mike NicholsZanesco, Liane Mroginiski January 2010 (has links)
Num segundo momento, a investigação analisa dois textos dramáticos, Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? / This paper explores interdisciplinary aspects related to the transposition of dramatic texts into films. First, a theoretical investigation is conducted on mimetic genre, transtextuality; on drama, from the point of view of the game as a dramatic element to build implicit and explicit metadrama, and film adaptation. Secondly, this dissertation analyzes two plays, Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? , by Edward Albee, and Closer , by Patrick Marber, as well as their film adaptations by director Mike Nichols, and examines the elements and features that the authors use to create the dramatic games. Later, the plays and their film adaptations are contrasted in order to investigate elements of dramatic games, and transtextual characteristics that allow the maintenance or the alteration of meaning between the plays and their correspondent films.
