Rottleb, René 13 November 2003 (has links) (PDF)

No. of bitstreams: 1 FredericoASL_TESE.pdf: 2802303 bytes, checksum: be814c8392c7d14ab8b3a30bbd50da04 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-11-18 / One of the current challenges of Ubiquitous Computing is the development of complex applications, those are more than simple alarms triggered by sensors or simple systems to configure the environment according to user preferences. Those applications are hard to develop since they are composed by services provided by different middleware and it is needed to know the peculiarities of each of them, mainly the communication and context models. This thesis presents OpenCOPI, a platform which integrates various services providers, including context provision middleware. It provides an unified ontology-based context model, as well as an environment that enable easy development of ubiquitous applications via the definition of semantic workflows that contains the abstract description of the application. Those semantic workflows are converted into concrete workflows, called execution plans. An execution plan consists of a workflow instance containing activities that are automated by a set of Web services. OpenCOPI supports the automatic Web service selection and composition, enabling the use of services provided by distinct middleware in an independent and transparent way. Moreover, this platform also supports execution adaptation in case of service failures, user mobility and degradation of services quality. The validation of OpenCOPI is performed through the development of case studies, specifically applications of the oil industry. In addition, this work evaluates the overhead introduced by OpenCOPI and compares it with the provided benefits, and the efficiency of OpenCOPI s selection and adaptation mechanism / Um dos principais desafios atuais da computa??o ub?qua ? o desenvolvimento de aplica??es complexas, que consistem em mais do que simples alarmes disparados por sensores ou ferramentas para configurar o ambiente de acordo com prefer?ncias dos usu?rios.

No. of bitstreams: 1 EvertonRSC_DISSERT.pdf: 4653595 bytes, checksum: 83e897be68464555082a55505fd406ea (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-01-31 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico / With the advance of the Cloud Computing paradigm, a single service offered by a cloud platform may not be enough to meet all the application requirements. To fulfill such requirements, it may be necessary, instead of a single service, a composition of services that aggregates services provided by different cloud platforms. In order to generate aggregated value for the user, this composition of services provided by several Cloud Computing platforms requires a solution in terms of platforms integration, which encompasses the manipulation of a wide number of noninteroperable APIs and protocols from different platform vendors. In this scenario, this work presents Cloud Integrator, a middleware platform for composing services provided by different Cloud Computing platforms. Besides providing an environment that facilitates the development and execution of applications that use such services, Cloud Integrator works as a mediator by providing mechanisms for building applications through composition and selection of semantic Web services that take into account metadata about the services, such as QoS (Quality of Service), prices, etc. Moreover, the proposed middleware platform provides an adaptation mechanism that can be triggered in case of failure or quality degradation of one or more services used by the running application in order to ensure its quality and availability. In this work, through a case study that consists of an application that use services provided by different cloud platforms, Cloud Integrator is evaluated in terms of the efficiency of the performed service composition, selection and adaptation processes, as well as the potential of using this middleware in heterogeneous computational clouds scenarios / Com o avan?o do paradigma de Computa??o em Nuvem, um ?nico servi?o oferecido por uma plataforma de nuvem pode n?o ser suficiente para satisfazer todos os requisitos da aplica??o. Beaufils, Mickaël 04 December 2012 (has links)
Nowadays, preservation of the environment is a main priority. WS-TDD: uma abordagem ágil para o desenvolvimento de serviços WEB / WS-TDD: an agile approach to WEB services development

Bissi, Wilson 23 March 2016 (has links)
Test Driven Development (TDD) is an agile practice that gained popularity when defined as a fundamental part in eXtreme Programming (XP). This practice determines that the tests should be written before implementing the code. TDD and its effects have been widely studied and compared with the Test Last Development (TLD) in several studies. However, few studies address TDD practice in the development of Web Services (WS), due to the complexity of testing the dependencies among distributed components and the specific characteristics of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). This study aims to define and validate an approach to develop WS based on the practice of TDD, called WS-TDD. This approach guides developers to use TDD to develop WS, suggesting tools and techniques to deal with SOA particularities and dependencies, focusing on the creation of the unitary and integrated automated tests in Java. In order to define and validate the proposed approach, four research methods have been carried out: (i) questionnaire; (ii) practical experiment; (iii) personal interview with each participant in the experiment and (iv) triangulation of the results with the people who participated in the three previous methods. According to the obtained results, WS-TDD was more efficient compared to TLD, increasing internal software quality and developer productivity. However, the external software quality has decreased due to a greater number of defects compared to the TLD approach. Finally, it is important to highlight that the proposed approach is a simple and practical alternative for the adoption of TDD in the development of WS, bringing benefits to internal quality and contributing to increase the developers’ productivity. However, the external software quality has decreased when using WS-TDD.

Indexation et recherche de contenus par objet visuel / Object-based visual content indexing and retrieval

Bursuc, Andrei 21 December 2012 (has links)
With the ever increasing amount of available video content on video repositories the issue of content-based video objects retrieval is growing in difficulty and becomes a mandatory feature for video search engines. The present thesis advances a user defined video object retrieval framework and brings two major contributions. The first contribution is a methodological framework for user selected video object instances retrieval, entitled DOOR (Dynamic Object Oriented Retrieval), while the second one concerns the support offered for video retrieval, namely the video navigation and retrieval system and interface and its underlying architecture.Under the DOOR framework, the user defined video object comports a hybrid representation obtained by over-segmenting the frames, constructing region adjacency graphs and aggregating interest points. The identification of object instances across multiple videos is formulated as an energy optimization problem approximating an NP-hard problem. Object candidates are sub-graphs that yield an optimum energy towards the user defined query. In order to obtain the optimum energy four optimization strategies are proposed: Greedy, Relaxed Greedy, Simulated Annealing and GraphCut. The region-based object representation is further improved by the aggregation of interest points into a hybrid object representation. The similarity between an object and a frame is achieved with the help of a spectral matching technique integrating both colorimetric and interest points descriptors. The DOOR framework is suitable to large scale video archives through the use of a Bag-of-Words representation enriched with a query definition and expansion mechanism based on a multi-modal, text-image-video principle. The performances of the proposed techniques are evaluated on multiple TRECVID video datasets prooving their effectiveness. The second contribution is related to the user support for video retrieval - video navigation, video retrieval, graphical interface - and consists in the OVIDIUS (On-line VIDeo Indexing Universal System) on-line video browsing and retrieval platform. The OVIDIUS platform features hierarchical video navigation functionalities that exploit the MPEG-7 approach for structural description of video content. The DOOR framework is integrated in the OVIDIUS platform, ensuring the search functionalities of the system. The major advantage of the proposed system concerns its modular architecture which makes it possible to deploy the system on various terminals (both fixed and mobile), independently of the exploitation systems involved. The choice of the technologies employed for each composing module of the platform is argumented in comparison with other technological options. Finally different scenarios and use cases for the OVIDIUS platform are presented.

J2EE vs. Microsoft Dot Net: A Qualitative and Quantitative Comparison for Building Enterprises Supporting XML-based Web Services

Clark, Raquel V. 01 January 2003 (has links)
Increasing speed of networks and worldwide availability has made the World Wide Web the most significant medium for information exchange. Web technologies have become more and more important as large and small businesses continue to make their presence on the web. Today's businesses have more than just a "face" on the worldwide web. The use of a web browser is no longer restricted to viewing static pages. Browsers are becoming more and more a standard interface to a multifaceted reign of programs that live on the worldwide web. Two main technologies stand out for the implementation of web applications, Sun Microsystems' Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and Microsoft' Dot Net Framework. The purpose of this study is to provide an unbiased comparison of the two technologies based on performance and other software qualities.
