Att ha ett barnperspektiv på en kvinnojourStarke, Sofie January 2011 (has links)
Ambitionen i denna studie är att synliggöra hur en lokal kvinnojour i Malmö arbetar med ett barnperspektiv samt vilka faktorer som kan ha försvårat respektive främjat implementeringen av det. Detta då kvinnojouren under tre år haft ett barnprojekt, vilket syftat till att implementera ett barnperspektiv i jourens verksamhet. Denna kvalitativa studie är inspirerad av processutvärdering som metod och baseras på intervjuer med socialsekreterare, anställda på jouren och en representant från Rädda Barnen. För att analysera hur de arbetar med ett barnperspektiv har jag utgått från delaktighetsperspektivet och omsorgsperspektivet, båda centrala begrepp i Barnkonventionen. För att analysera vilka faktorer som kan ha främjat respektive försvårat implementeringen av ett barnperspektiv har jag bland annat utgått från organisations- och implementeringsteorier. Det framkommer i studien att kvinnojouren idag arbetar utifrån ett barnperspektiv, men i vilken utsträckning är med utgångspunkt i empirin inte möjligt att precisera. Att det finns flera faktorer som kan ha både främjat och försvårat implementeringen är tydligt. Bland annat var de anställdas vilja en främjande implementeringsfaktor, medan avsaknaden av krav på ett barnperspektiv från socialsekreterarna troligen har påverkat implementeringen negativt. / The ambition of this study is to shed light on how a women’s shelter is working with the Child Perspective. The shelter has internally operated a three years long project with the specific aim of implementing the Child Perspective in all of its activities. Thus, the study highlights the influencing factors that support and/or hinder the realization of the Child Perspective in the organization’s actions. This study uses qualitative methodology, inspired by the approach of Process Evaluation. Empirical findings are based on interviews with employees working at the women’s shelter, social workers, as well as a representative from the organization Save the Children. The Participatory Approach and the Care Perspective, two central concepts in the internationally recognized Child Convention, are decisive tools in enabling the analysis of how the interviewees apply the Child Perspective in their daily work. While analyzing the influencing factors, concepts from two theories have been applied: Organization and Implementation Theory. The study reveals that the staff at the women’s shelter does apply a Child Perspective in much of its work, but in which extent is hard to pin down. In the study several factors that might have affected the implementation, both negatively and positively, appear. One supportive factor in the implementation was that the staff at the women’s shelter, wanted to implement a Child Perspective in their daily work. A potential hindering factor was the social workers ́ lack of demand on the shelter to apply a Child Perspective.

Ideellt arbete på kvinnojourer : volontärers upplevelse av motivation och emotionell påverkanMavi, Dilan, Pettersson, Sofia January 2022 (has links)
Våldsutsatta kvinnor kan vända sig till kvinnojourer för att söka hjälp, stöd och skydd. Där arbetar kvinnor som har en anställning men även kvinnor som arbetar ideellt. Att arbeta med människor kan upplevas emotionellt påfrestande. Syftet med studien är att undersöka vad som motiverar kvinnor att arbeta ideellt på kvinnojourer, samt om de upplever emotionell påverkan till följd av arbetet med våldsutsatta kvinnor. Semistrukturerade intervjuer med 12 ideellt arbetande kvinnor genomfördes, som sedan analyserades med tematiskanalys. Resultatet påvisade viljan att göra något meningsfullt, engagemanget i samhällsfrågan våld mot kvinnor och att tro på framtiden motiverar till ideellt arbete på kvinnojourer. Känslor till följd av uppdraget påvisades vara styrkan i gemenskapen, känsla av frustration och otillräcklighet samt känslan av att uppdraget är en större känslomässig vinst än förlust. Resultat av studien kan bidra till att motivera flera kvinnor att arbeta ideellt och främja välbefinnandet på arbetsplatser vid möten med våldsutsatta.

Mäns våld mot kvinnor i nära relationer : En kvalitativ studie om hur samverkan fungerar mellan två myndigheter och en ideell organisation i Västerås stad.Thell, Anna-Jackelin January 2020 (has links)
In 2006, the Swedish government established the gender equality policy "women and men should have the same power to shape the society and their own lives", together with six sub-goals. This thesis has examined the governments sixth equality sub-goal "men's violence against women should cease". There is a national strategy to prevent and combat this violence, where collaboration is highlighted as an important factor. The thesis also elevates how men´s violence against women in close relationships is currently a global societal problem that extends beyond categories such as social class, ethnicity, age et cetera. The aim of this thesis was to investigate how the local collaboration is structured and worksbetween the police, social services and the women's shelter in Västerås, regarding the implementation of the governments sixth equality sub-goal. A qualitative method was used in form of semi-structured interviews to answer the purpose and the questions of the thesis. Two employees from each authority and a non-profit organization were selected as informants, determined through three categories. The theoretical framework was based both on a collaborative theory and an implementation theory. The result showed that collaboration is necessary as a method while working for women who are vulnerable to violence in order for them to receive adequate support and assistance. It´s also important for the employees, since no individual authority or organization can be responsible to solve men's violence against women. Currently, the collaboration between the three actors in Västerås work relatively well. However, this thesis shows that more resources need to be invested in the collaboration. Communication needs to be improved and clearer goals that formulates the legitimacy of everyone participating in the collaboration work need to be set. The conclusion partly shows that collaboration needs, not only to exist, but also be prioritized at all levels of the institutions working with this issue. Even politicians need to prioritize and invest resources that may enable a well-functioning collaboration which is vital for the work against men’s violence against women.

The Fluidity of Power: Complexities, Contradictions and Challenges of Visible Minority Women Working in Women’s SheltersJones, Marilyn R. 10 1900 (has links)
<p>Interrogating the concept of power is ethical social work practice. This research aims to investigate the manner in which visible minority women social service providers perceive the concept of power as non-managerial employees in the women’s shelter system. Therefore, the necessity to delineate the ongoing challenges and contradictions that shape the work experiences of visible minority women social service providers contributes and furthers our understanding of social justice, critical social work practice, and strategies to enhance workplace equity. In addressing the phenomenon of power from the viewpoint of those affected, this ultimately helps to broaden the understanding how as social workers it remains pivotal to raise awareness about the ongoing power imbalances in social services settings. Semi-structured, in-depth interviews with visible minority women employed in the women’s shelter system in southern, Ontario were conducted and complement the author’s own personal reflections as a visible minority woman previously employed in the Violence Against Women’s shelter system. This research suggests that due to ongoing power differentials, neoliberal restructuring and discriminatory incidents, continued attention is required in order to address social inequality and enhance workplace equity.</p> / Master of Social Work (MSW)

Hur personalens arbetsmiljö och samverkan relaterar till möjligheterna att stödja skyddsplaceradeEklund, Celena, Eriksson, Jenny January 2023 (has links)
En tredjedel av världens kvinnor har blivit våldsutsatta och år 2022 blev tio personer mördade av sin partner i Sverige. Personal på kvinnojourer och skyddade boenden har en viktig roll att erbjuda skydd och stöd. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka personalens upplevelser av krav, resurser och utomorganisatorisk samverkan i arbetet med de skyddsplacerade med Jobb-Krav-Resursmodellen som teoretiskt perspektiv. Elva semistrukturerade intervjuer tematiserades med personal från tre olika kvinnojourer och ett privatägt skyddat boende. Ur analysen framkom tio teman som besvarade frågeställningarna. Resultatet visade att personalen upplevde en tung arbetsbelastning med en mängd ovissa arbetsinsatser, ambivalenta skyddsplacerade och snäva tidsramar vilket gav känslor av frustration samt stress. Betydelsefulla arbetsresurser var kollegialt stöd, möjligheter till kompetensutveckling och god påverkan på arbetsplatsen. Samverkan var bristfällig med andra organisationer vilket upplevdes vara relaterat till bristande helhetssyn och okunskaper om våldets konsekvenser, vilket försvårade möjligheterna att hjälpa de skyddsplacerade att återuppbygga sina liv. / One-third of the world´s women have experienced violence, and in 2022, ten people were murdered by their partners in Sweden. Staff at women´s shelters and safe houses play a crucial role in providing protection and support. The purpose of this study is to examine the staff´s experiences of work demands, work resources and interorganizational collaboration in their work with the victims of intimate partner violence using Job-Demand-Resource Model as a theoretical perspective. Eleven semi-structured interviews were conducted with staff from three different women´s shelters and one privately owned safe house. From the analysis, ten themes emerged that addressed the two research questions. The resultats showed that the staff experienced a heavy workload with a multitude of uncertain tasks, ambivalent victims and tight time frames, leading to feelings of frustration and stress. Significant work resources included collegial support, opportunities for competence development, and positive workplace influence. Collaboration with other organizations was insufficient which was perceived to be related to a lack of holistic perspective and ignorance about the consequences of violence, making it difficult to assist the victims in rebuildning their lives.

Studien har syftat till att belysa kvinnojourers arbete med migrerande kvinnor i anknytningsrelation och deras utmaningar i arbetet. Tidigare forskning har framhållit att det brister i forskning om migrerande kvinnor och hur kvinnojourer arbetar med berörda kvinnor i anknytningsrelation. Studien grundar sig i kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta respondenter från olika kvinnojourer i Sverige. Resultatet visar att det finns utmaningar i kvinnojourers arbete med migrerande kvinnor. Utveckling och förbättring är nödvändigt av bland annat myndigheter i form av basal samhällsinformation, kunskap om vart kvinnor ska vända sig och vilka rättigheter de har. I enlighet med tidigare forskning och teorier appliceras intersektionella perspektivet i deras arbete, då migrerande kvinnor har andra behov gentemot vad en svenskfödd kvinna har. Genusordningen påvisar mäns maktövertag över kvinnor utifrån kön och normaliseringen redogör att kvinnor normaliserar våldet. Det finns befintliga lagar som skyddar migrerande kvinnor, men i själva verket är det sällan dessa lagar tillämpas. Vi som forskare tolkar att respondenterna upplever utmaningar i deras arbete, särskilt när det gäller tvåårsregeln. Kvinnojourer är delaktiga i migrerande kvinnors liv och hjälper utifrån befintliga resurser och möjligheter, men i själva verket ligger inte allt i kvinnojourers händer vilket försvårar deras arbete med migrerande kvinnor. / The purpose of this study is to enlighten women's shelters work with migrant women in an attachment relationship and their challenges. Previous research shows a lack of research on migrant women and women’s shelters work with women in attachment relationships. The study is based on qualitative interviews with eight respondents from various women’s shelters in Sweden. The results show challenges in women’s shelters work with migrant women. Development and improvement is necessary by authorities based on giving basic social information, knowledge of where women can seek help and knowing her rights. In accordance with previous research and theories, intersectional perspective is applied in women’s shelters work, as migrant women have different needs compared to what a Swedish-born woman has. The gender order demonstrates men's dominance over women based on sex and the theory of normalization explains that women normalize violence. There are existing laws that protect migrant women, but in reality, these laws are rarely enforced. We interpret that the respondents experience challenges in their work, especially regarding the two-year rule. Women's shelters are involved in migrant women's lives and help them based on their resources and opportunities, but in reality, not everything is in the hands of women's shelters, which makes their work with migrant women difficult.

This essay portrays the relationship building between social workers and abused women. Intimate partner violence is a social problem worldwide. It appears that the relationship building between social workers and abused women is crucial for how the women receive support. This highlights the need for further research on the relationship between social workers and abused women. The study is qualitative, consisting of eight interviews conducted using a semi-structured method with social workers who work with abused women. The purpose of this essay is to examine the perspective of social workers on building relationships with abused women. The central components that emerged from the results regarding the social workers' relationship-building abilities were empathy, sensitivity, validation of feelings, and knowledge of men's violence against women. An additional conclusion drawn from the results is that establishing relationships based on empowerment can contribute to the women gaining increased self-esteem, which in turn can motivate them to leave abusive situations and become self-sufficient. Through this study, we hope to contribute to further research on the relationship building between abused women and social workers, as well as identify potential challenges in establishing effective relationships.

I januari 2020 bekräftades första fallet av Covid-19 i Sverige, ett virus som klassades som en samhällsfarlig sjukdom. Till följd av smittspridningen begränsades människors rörlighet i samhället vilket i sin tur ledde till större isolering. En konsekvens av isolering är en förhöjd risk för våld i nära relation. Våld i nära relation klassades redan innan Covid-19-pandemin som ett omfattande samhällsproblem och ett allvarligt brott mot de mänskliga rättigheterna. Statistik har visat på en ökning av våld i nära relation under pandemin. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om kvinnojourer och socialtjänst upplevt någon förändring i kontakten med utsatta kvinnor under pandemin samt vilka åtgärder som bör fokuseras på för att motverka att våld i nära relation ökar under en pandemi. En kvalitativ metod användes där sammanlagt sju kvinnojourer och socialarbetare blev intervjuade om sitt arbete med utsatta kvinnor. Resultatet visade en osäkerhet om våld i nära relation har ökat under pandemin, däremot visade resultatet att våldet blivit grövre och mer kontrollerande. Åtgärder för att förhindra att våld i nära relation eskalerar under en samhällskatastrof är att öka tillgängligheten hos de stödorganisationer som hjälper utsatta kvinnor. I dagsläget går det ej att dra generella slutsatser kring hur Covid-19 har påverkat våld i nära relation då det är en pågående pandemi. / In January 2020 the first case of Covid-19 was confirmed in Sweden, a virus that was classified as a socially dangerous disease. Because of the spread of the infection people’s mobility in the society was limited which led to a big isolation. A consequence of isolation is an increased risk of domestic violence. Domestic violence was classified as a great societal problem and a serious crime against human rights even before the Covid-19-pandemic. Statistics have shown an increase of domestic violence during the pandemic. The purpose of this study is to investigate if women's shelters and the social services noticed any changes in the contact with women exposed to domestic violence during the pandemic, as well as what measures that should be taken to prevent an increase in domestic violence during the pandemic. A qualitative method was used with a total of 7 women’s shelters and social services that were interviewed about their work with women exposed to domestic violence. The result showed an uncertainty if domestic violence had increased during the pandemic, it did however show that the violence had become grosser and more controlling. Measures to prevent domestic violence escalating in a social disaster is to increase the availability of the support organizations that are helping vulnerable women. It is not possible to draw any general conclusion about how Covid-19 has affected domestic violence at this point, as it is still an ongoing pandemic.

'Doing something' about modern slavery : scenes of responsibility, practices of hospitalitySlack, Andrew January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examines the desire and efforts to 'do something' about what is variously called 'modern slavery' or 'human trafficking'. Neoabolitionist efforts to fight such phenomena are typically wedded to a simplistic and essentialist ontology, unaware of or rejecting their own performativity. The thesis is not about slavery: it is about the ethico-political problem of responsibility and hospitality toward the other in the context of contemporary anti-slavery. What constitutes an ethical response to modern slavery? I explore the often violent effects of particular answers to this question but ultimately argue that the focus on doing something (and knowing it) threatens the very possibility of hospitality - of an ethical response. Through a conceptual vocabulary of 'scenes' I explore the performative interrelation of ontology and ethics. It is intended to help resist the metaphysical seductions of ontology and moral urgency. Scenes bundle specific ontologies, frames, conjured histories and futures, roles and narrative structures, distributions of concern, desire and enjoyment. Response begins with the discursive and affective co-constitution of the self, the one to whom we respond, and the scene in which it takes place. Scene-specific forms of responsibility can operate as a defence against the full force of responsibility to the other. Chapters 1 and 2 develop the notion of scenes and explore how neoabolitionism sets its scenes and locates favoured solutions. The remaining chapters explore those solution areas. Chapter 3 looks at how a US movement against 'sex trafficking' in internet advertising reproduces a Manichean world of simplicity by a game of Whac-A-Mole with websites, ritualistic repetition of baseless 'facts', silencing of sex workers, and aggressive demonization of those who disagree or argue for greater complexity; Chapters 4 and 5 draw on time I spent in San Francisco with two very different organisations. One, Not For Sale, makes a product of experiencing neoabolitionism, joining together charity, capitalism, consumer enjoyment, technology and the excitement of a movement of 'true believers', producing innovative approaches but in the process reinforcing problematic gendered and colonial stereotypes. The other, Anti-trafficking Collaborative of the Bay Area, works quietly and tactically in a messy immigration system, aware of the political and performative nature of their work. They actively take responsibility for their own preconceptions and desires to ground a profoundly hospitable client-centred approach avoiding many pitfalls identified in earlier chapters. The thesis has a performative element woven through it - the ethos of the work is one of unsettling both existing practices and literatures, and the writer and reader. The concluding chapter explores the impossibility of hospitality, its interrelation with juridical subjectivity and the ethics demanding and giving accounts in light of the preceding chapters, suggesting a performative approach toward the other is possible.
