Composing from the inside out or the outside in; How does the computer affect the act of composing music?

Arale, Sofia January 2022 (has links)

AN ADVANCED DISTRIBUTED ARCHITECTURE FOR REAL-TIME PROCESSING AND DISPLAY OF TELEMETRY AND SPACE POSITIONING DATA

Rhea, Donald C., Scardello, Michael A., Moore, Archie L. 11 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 29-November 02, 1990 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Rapid technology growth in the aerospace industry continues to manifest in increasingly complex weapons systems and system driven weapons systems platforms which must be supported in the flight test environment. This growth in complexity often surpasses the capabilities of many ground based real-time and post-flight processing and display systems, leaving these systems perpetually behind the power curve when compared to data/information processing, presentation and distribution requirements set forth by today’s flight test engineering community. Many flight test programs are accepting less than optimal results from these systems, therefore, the amount of information presently obtained (per flight hour) limits the results acquired during a test program, creating a more costly test and evaluation budget. As an integral participant in the development and testing of high technology aircraft and weapons systems, the U.S. Air Force Flight Test Center’s (AFFTC) Advanced Data Acquisition and Processing Systems (ADAPS) development is bridging the gap between requirements and capability by distributing current system architectures to provide incremental performance upgrades in specific areas of need in lieu of entire system replacements. This paper will discuss the current real-time processing, distribution and display capability that exists at the AFFTC and the planned phased upgrade of this tightly coupled system to a more flexible and extensible distributed architecture that will be increasingly responsive to the dynamic nature of test and evaluation of modern weapons systems and weapons systems platforms.

Fatigue Monitoring System

Ratecki, Tomasz 14 May 2010 (has links)
This work provides an innovative solution for monitoring fatigue for users behind workstations. A web camera was adjusted to work in near infrared range and a system of 880 nm IR diodes was implemented to create an IR vision system to localize and track the eye pupils. The software developed monitors and tracks eyes for signs of fatigue by measuring PERCLOS. The software developed runs on the workstation and is designed to draw limited computational power, so as to not interfere with the user task. To overcome low-frame rate imposed by the hardware limitations and to improve real time monitoring, two-phases detection and tacking algorithm is implemented. The proposed system successfully monitors fatigue at a rate of 8 fps. The system is well suited to monitor users in command centers, flight control centers, airport traffic dispatches, military operation and command centers, etc., but the work can be extended to wearable devices and other environments.

Silva, André Luis da, 1973- January 2009 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The growing demand in the purchase of tractors is increasing competition between manufacturers and exposing the lack of companies to produce farm tractors that can meet the ergonomic nececidades large and small farms extending the option buyer with new models that meet their needs use. The launch of new models of tractors brings to the domestic market the latest technologies to the job of the operator of tractor. The introduction of new technologies in agriculture has been advancing steadily in many areas but specifically in the workplace of the operator of an agricultural tractor, these innovations do not go the same speed when using such techniques do not present to evaluate accurately the RTB tractor operator, making it also the researcher to acquire updated equipment for the collection of ergonomic data, especially for three-dimensional coordinates. This study aimed to develop a device that can collect three-dimensional coordinates of the controls of the job of the tractor operator by automating the data is entered directly into the computer and with higher accuracy of measurements obtained by eliminating human error in reading and typing. The proposed equipment consists of a system of horizontal angle, vertical, and a laser beam to direct measurements, and the data collected by a converter module of the angle, and a collection system for wireless laser beam. In order to collect the data, we developed a computer program called "Ergocoord" in the Delphi programming language. For the data collected were used tractors with new average power of 74 kW in order not to change the variables of the research. In the valuation of the proposed equipment used two methodological processes, the traditional method of measurement proposed by the NBR / NM / ISO 5353 - Road rollers, tractors and agricultural and forestry machinery - Point of reference of the seat, and adapted it standard...

Norfelt, Erik January 2007 (has links)

McCaffrey, Edward Jacob. January 2003 (has links)
Title from PDF of title page. / Document formatted into pages; contains 120 pages. / Thesis (M.S.M.E.)--University of South Florida, 2003. / Includes bibliographical references. / Text (Electronic thesis) in PDF format. / ABSTRACT: The goal of this thesis is the kinematic analysis and evaluation of wheelchair mounted robotic arms. More specifically, to address the kinematics of the wheelchair mounted robotic arm (WMRA) with respect to its ability to reach positions commonly required by an assistive device in activities of daily living (ADL). A robotic manipulator attached to a power wheelchair could enhance the manipulation functions of an individual with a disability. In this thesis, a procedure is developed for the kinematic analysis and evaluation of a wheelchair mounted robotic arm. In addition to developing the analytical procedure, the manipulator is evaluated, and design recommendations and insights are obtained. At this time there exist both commercially-available and industrial wheelchair mountable robotic manipulators. The commercially-available manipulators (of which two will be addressed in this research) have been designed specifically for use in rehabilitation robotics. / ABSTRACT: In contrast, industrial robotic manipulators are designed for speed, precision, and endurance. These traits are not required in assistive robots and can actually be dangerous to the operator if mounted onto a wheelchair. Manipulators to be used as WMRAs must be designed specifically for assistive functions in order to be utilized as a wheelchair mounted robotic arm. In an effort to evaluate two commercial manipulators, the procedure for kinematic analysis is applied to each manipulator. Design recommendations with regard to each device are obtained. This method will benefit the researchers by providing a standardized procedure for kinematic analysis of WMRAs that is capable of evaluating independent designs. / System requirements: World Wide Web browser and PDF reader. / Mode of access: World Wide Web.
