Le tesi è volta a esplorare la dimensione interculturale nei dizionari bilingue italiano-francese. La prima parte propone un approccio teorico alla questione. Prendendo le mosse da una ridefinizione delle nozioni di cultura e interculturalità, un excursus storico permette di delineare le relazioni tra lingue e culture. Vengono affrontati in seguito temi come lo statuto epistemologico della lessicografia bilingue e i suoi rapporti con la linguistica; le aporie derivanti dal concetto di equivalenza; la specificità della traduzione nei dizionari bilingue; gli apporti della semantica alla lessicografia. Un’attenzione particolare viene rivolta alle nozioni di scarto semantico, referenziale e culturale e alle lacune lessicali. Ci siamo infine concentrati sul fenomeno della connotazione e su alcune tradizioni di ricerca che sottolineano il valore culturale della lingua. La seconda parte è incentrata sullo studio del corpus. L’analisi è stata effettuata sulla lettera A dei quattro dizionari presi in esame (Boch, Garzanti, Hachette-Paravia, Larousse). Si è cercato innanzitutto di sottolineare il valore e la tipologia degli scarti prodotti nell’equivalenza, in particolare di quelli culturali. In seguito, ci si è soffermati sugli esempi a funzione culturale. Infine, un esame delle note culturali e di alcuni falsi prestiti ha consentito di apportare un ulteriore contributo alla problematica. / Our thesis aims at exploring the intercultural dimension in Italian-French bilingual dictionaries. The first part represents a theoretical approach to the issue. A definition of the concepts of culture and cross-cultural precedes a study of the relationships between languages and cultures. After that, the following themes are dealt with: the epistemological status of bilingual lexicography and its relationships with linguistics; the semantic hindrances to equivalence; the peculiarity of translation in bilingual lexicography; the contributions of semantics to lexicography. Special attention is also given to the concepts of semantic, referential and cultural gaps and to the lexical gaps in general. In the last two chapters, the focus shifts to connotation and to some approaches that stress the importance of cultural values in language. The second part is a corpus-based study on the letter A of four Italian-French contemporary dictionaries (Boch, Garzanti, Hachette-Paravia, Larousse). We have tried, in particular, to emphasize the role and the typology of the gaps occurring in the equivalence, especially of cultural gaps. Then, we focus on culture-bound examples. Finally, we deal with cultural notes and some false borrowings in Italian, in order to show other aspects of equivalence.

Resumo: Por meio dessa tese se propõe a análise do conteúdo ideológico expresso por meio das unidades lexicais do vocabulário do primeiro jornal periódico impresso em língua portuguesa, a Gazeta de Lisboa, num corpus composto por 99 edições dessa publicação, entre 1715 e 1810. Ela também pretende destacar as estratégias linguísticas e discursivas que são concebidas socialmente, e pelas quais os usuários de uma língua explicitam as suas opiniões e visões de mundo partilhadas por meio do léxico. Outro objetivo dessa pesquisa é mostrar a importância da solidariedade entre duas áreas distintas, a lexicologia e a análise do discurso, complementares e necessárias para os estudos sobre os sentidos dos enunciados. Propostas de estudos lexicais em perspectiva discursiva vêm, aos poucos, ganhando espaço nos estudos linguísticos, motivadas pela própria concepção teórica da Lexicologia e também pela prática lexicográfica, que privilegiam a consideração dos contextos e dos usos das unidades lexicais. Realiza-se uma pesquisa vinculada à teoria linguística da Lexicologia, desenvolvida em perspectiva discursiva, baseada em um modelo dialógico da enunciação, que considera que as palavras carregam consigo a memória de usos anteriores e, portanto, têm uma dimensão intertextual que determina seu emprego de acordo com as circunstâncias enunciativas. Partese do ponto de vista que o dialogismo está inscrito nas palavras, e a escolha das unidades da língua usadas na enunciação é negociada na interação entre a realidade e o sentido, que é construído por meio da circulação de informações na sociedade. It also aims to highlight the linguistic and discursive strategies that are designed socially, and by which users of a language formulate their opinions and points of view through the lexicon. Another objective of this research is to demonstrate the importance of the solidarity between two distinct areas, lexicology and discourse analysis, which are complementary and necessary for studies on the meanings of the utterances. Proposals for lexical studies in discursive perspective have gradually gaining ground in linguistic studies, motivated by the theoretical conception of lexicology and lexicography, which favor the consideration of the contexts and the uses of lexical units. This study is linked to the linguistic theory of lexicology, developed in a discursive perspective, based on a dialogical model of enunciation, which believes that words carry the memory of past use and therefore have an intertextual dimension that determines their use according to the circumstances of utterance. We start from the standpoint that dialogism is recorded in words, and the choice of language units used in the utterances is made on the basis of the interaction between reality and sense, which is built by the circulation of information in society. Die vertrekpunt is dat 'n teorie van UG lesikale valensie slegs ten dele verreken. So 'n teorie is gemoeid met die vorm van 'n konstruksie wat op LF-vlak leesbaar is. Gevolglik beskryf 'n teorie van UG valensie net in universele sintakties-kategoriale terme. In hierdie studie word die semantiese en pragmatiese komponente van 'n valensieteorie derhalwe uitgebou sodat daar 'n duideliker begrip verkry kan word van die wisselwerking tussen alle veranderlikes van valensie op 'n taalspesifieke LF-vlak. 'n Valensieteorie word op eklektiese wyse saamgestel uit verskeie ander teoriee. Die apparaat om die sintaktiese komponent van 'n valensieteorie te beskryf, word aan TGGmodelle ontleen. Die semantiese komponent van die teorie word aangevul vanuit die Konseptuele Semantiek en die pragmatiese komponent daarvan vanui t kogni ti ewe grammatikamodelle. Die interaksie tussen hierdie komponente word verreken deur teoriee van leksikalisasie, korrespondensiereels en die passing tussen konstruksies en leksikale items. Hierdie hipotese word getoets aan die empiriese data van Afrikaanse bewegingswerkwoorde. Sekere fasette van valensierame word egter ook bepaal deur konvensies soos profilering, en deur bereelde interaksie met 'n basiese konstruksie se argumentstruktuur. / This thesis focuses on the development of a theoretically adequate model to account for lexical valence and to provide the detail for such a model by means of an analysis of Afrikaans verbs of motion. The thesis is a response to a theory of UG which inadequately accounts for lexical valence. A theory of UG is concerned with the universal syntactic form of a construction that is legible on LF level. It therefore describes valence in universal syntactic-categorial terms only. This thesis develops the semantic and pragmatic components of a theory of valence in order that a clearer understanding may be gained of the interaction between all the variables of valence on a language specific LF level. A theory of valence is construed eclectically from several other theories. TGG models provide the methods used to describe the syntactic component of a theory of valence. Conceptual Semantics contributes to the development of the semantic component, and models of cognitive grammar to the pragmatic component. The interaction between these components is explained by theories of lexicalisation, rules of correspondence and the fusion of constructions and lexical items. The analysis of Afrikaans verbs of motion provides the comprehensive set of analytical devices required to account for valence beyond the point of LF. From this analysis it emerges that the valence of this category can be summarized in a finite number of frames of valence for distinct classes within the category. 'n Clear understanding of the universal and language specific aspects of this category is achieved by means of these frames of valence. A further hypothesis (the unaccusativity hypothesis) posits that the syntactic distribution of verbs can be predicted from their semantics. This hypothesis is tested by means of empirical data of Afrikaans verbs of motion. These verbs are classified according to similar semantic-pragmatic features. It is shown that verbs of motion with the same semanticpragmatic features share frames of valence. These frames thus are deducible systematically from semantic-pragmatic features. My diploma thesis deals with the state of pupils' vocabulary in the sixths and ninths grades. The thesis focuses on the pupils' understanding of the words which occur at the periphery of the vocabulary, mainly to literary expressions, archaisms, historisms, poetisms. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first, theoretical, part is given deffiniton off basic terms related to the topic. In the second, practical, part is described whole cours and results of tests, which I gave to the pupils. Based on these test I have answered predefined research questions.

Les emprunts lexicaux dans le Coran entre l’approche linguistique et l’approche idéologique / Lexical borrowings in the Quran in linguistic approach and ideological approach

La question des emprunts lexicaux dans le Coran est l’une des premières questions linguistiques posées au commencement de la pensée linguistique arabe. Pourtant, cette question n’a pas connu le même développement qu’ont connu les autres questions linguistiques. C’est qu’elle était toujours un objet de désaccord entre les savants et les chercheurs ; certains ont nié la présence d’emprunts lexicaux dans le Coran, d’autres l’ont admise. Dans les études anciennes et contemporaines, nous avons pu distinguer deux approches: la première est d’ordre linguistique. Elle considère le Coran comme un texte langagier. En effet, les linguistes ont étudié les emprunts coraniques dans leurs caractères phonologiques, morphologiques, syntaxiques et sémantiques. Alors que la seconde est plutôt idéologique. Elle prend une position non objective, en niant complètement la présence d’emprunts lexicaux dans le Coran, ou en glorifiant une langue mère par des motivations nationalistes, religieuses, sociales et culturelles. Après avoir étudié le développement, l’interférence et l’interaction entre ces approches, nous avons proposé notre position sociolinguistique pour élaborer des critères d’identification de nature linguistique, référentielle et culturelle. Ces critères nous ont aidé à dégager deux corpus : le premier contient les emprunts coraniques et leurs langues sources, le deuxième comprend les unités lexicales que nous considérons comme des unités arabes. Ce travail nous a permis de mettre en lumière les motivations idéologiques qui peuvent influencer l’étude linguistique. De même il est un outil pour prendre conscience de la nécessité d’une révision critique des approches qui ont traité les emprunts lexicaux en général et les emprunts coraniques en particulier. / The issue of “lexical borrowings in The Quran” is one of the first issues that had emerged since the beginning of the Arabic linguistic thought. Unfortunately, this issue was fruitless compared to other linguistic researches, because it has always been a subject of a great polemic among ancient and modern Arabic and non Arabic scholars. Some denied the fact that The Quran contains lexical borrowings, others admitted it. Many scholars were pushed by ideological motivations such as religious, nationalist, social, cultural motivations, especially those who denied the phenomenon.In this work, we tried first to evoke main linguistic and extra- linguistic problems concerning lexical borrowing in general, and the study of this phenomenon in the Quran especially. Then, we studied the two main approaches: (1) ideological approach which denies the existence of lexical borrowings in the Quran, or which admits it and tries meanwhile to glorify some languages and dishonour some others, (linguistic approach and its phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic analyses. After studying different approaches and their development, interference and interaction, we have elaborated a socio-linguistic perspective associated with some linguistic, referential and cultural criteria which allowed us to distinguish between two types of quranic words: words that we consider as real lexical borrowings, and genuine Arabic words. This study does not only shed the light on some ideological motivations which have affected linguistic research, but it also provides a crucial critical review of borrowing studies.

Uma das dificuldades mais documentadas refere-se à morfologia de tempo, sendo que esta categoria funcional pode ser omitida assistematicamente ou substituída de forma irregular. Tempo e Aspecto encontram-se relacionados intrinsecamente, impossibilitando o estudo do primeiro sem a observação do segundo. Estudos anteriores referem que crianças com DEL apresentam bom reconhecimento de temporalidade (passado, presente e futuro), mas encontram relativa dificuldade em compreender a relação entre eventos completos/ incompletos e o passado progressivo (aspecto gramatical imperfectivo). Este comportamento seria resultado de uma baixa sensibilidade às propriedades aspectuais, evidenciada pela pouca ou nenhuma variação do desempenho com relação ao aspecto lexical. Tais resultados referem-se a pesquisas com crianças anglófonas, já o presente estudo buscou verificar se o mesmo ocorre em crianças com DEL adquirindo o português brasileiro. Resultados encontrados demonstram que os indivíduos participantes apresentam variações em seu comportamento que podem ser atribuídas à presença do aspecto lexical, enfraquecendo a hipótese da insensibilidade aspectual, ao menos no que se refere ao português brasileiro. Outra questão abordada foi a distinção entre evento e não-evento por meio de pares de figuras representando um evento e um objeto tanto com verbos e nomes existentes na língua como com palavras novas ou pseudopalavras. O que se viu foi o melhor desempenho com verbos, demonstrando sensibilidade às pistas morfológicas ao menos com palavras pertencentes ao léxico / Abstract: Children affected by the Specific Language Impairment (SLI) have difficulties with the composition of the grammatical structure of their language. One of the most documented difficulties concerns the tense morphology, a functional category that can be unsystematically omitted or irregularly replaced. Tense and Aspect are intrinsically linked, making it impossible to study the first without observing the latter. According to previous researches, children with SLI show good recognition of temporality (past, present and future), but find relative difficulty in understanding the relationship between complete/ incomplete events and past progressive (imperfective grammatical aspect). This behavior would be the result of a low sensitivity to the aspectual proprieties, evidenced by little or no change in performance with regards to lexical aspect. These results have been seen in other researches with English-speaking children, and this study sought to verify whether the same occurs in children with SLI acquiring Brazilian Portuguese. Results have shown that individuals vary in their behavior, which can be attributed to the presence of lexical aspect, weakening the hypothesis of aspectual insensitivity, at least in relation to Brazilian Portuguese. Another issue discussed was the distinction between event and nonevent by means of pairs of figures representing an event and an object with both real verbs and real nouns as with new verbs and nouns or pseudo-words. The model adopted for the analysis is the Lexicon-Grammar (GROSS, 1975, 1981), under which all syntactic and semantic rules of a language can be described from their simple sentences. Theory of valences (Borba, 1996) recognizes the same principle, adding that there is a hierarchy among the constituents of the sentence and that in general, the central lexical item that selects every other element is the phrasal item lexical verb. Theories of the Lexicon-Grammar and provision, together with the notions of sign, meaning, value, text and gender, are the theoretical foundation of this research, both qualitative and quantitative, seeking not only the types of verb do, but, above all, their degree of recurrence in the corpus. The meanings and uses of the verb were taken to the texts that make up the Lazio-Ref, reference corpus Project Lazio-Web, organized and published by NILC USP (ALUÍSIO et al., 2004). Breaks, therefore, the assumption that all the Portuguese verbs undergo a continuum, ranging from full verb - which is the prototype - even a verb constituent expression crystallized, assuming as a verb support, vicarious, operator-causative, hiperverbo, among other classifications. To get to these classes and therefore the results, the analysis of the corpus followed the Transformational Model (Harris, 1964, 1968), applying transformational rules to simple phrases to determine their acceptability or unacceptability of the language. The analysis revealed recognize three interesting properties regarding the operation of the verb do in written Portuguese of Brazil: a) form is predominantly as a verb support, unlike many other verbs in Portuguese; b) classification is for a continuum and can not be described in terms of limit between one category and another, but in terms of boundaries, where two categories are mixed and interpose c) is one of the most productive verbs of the Portuguese language, which is explained by idea of linguistic struggling economy. / Este trabalho propõe analisar o funcionamento e os usos do verbo fazer em textos escritos do português do Brasil. O modelo adotado para a análise é o do Léxico-Gramática (GROSS, 1975, 1981), segundo o qual todas as regras sintático-semânticas de uma língua podem ser descritas a partir de suas frases simples. A Teoria de valências (BORBA, 1996) reconhece o mesmo princípio, acrescentando que há uma hierarquia entre os constituintes da frase e que, em geral, o item lexical central que seleciona todos os outros elementos frasais é o item lexical verbal. As teorias do Léxico-Gramática e de valências, juntamente com as noções de signo, significado, valor, texto e gênero, constituem a fundamentação teórica desta pesquisa, ao mesmo tempo qualitativa e quantitativa, buscando não apenas os tipos de verbo fazer, mas, sobretudo, sua maior ou menor recorrência no corpus. As acepções e usos do verbo fazer foram retirados dos textos que compõem o Lacio-Ref, corpus de referência do Projeto Lacio-Web, organizado e publicado pelo NILC da USP (ALUISIO et al., 2004). Parte-se, portanto, do pressuposto de que todos os verbos do português passam por um continuum, que vai desde verbo pleno que é o mais prototípico até verbo constituinte de uma expressão cristalizada, admitindo-se como verbo suporte, vicário, operador-causativo, hiperverbo, dentre outras classificações. Para chegar a essas classes e, consequentemente, aos resultados, a análise do corpus seguiu o Modelo Transformacional (HARRIS, 1964, 1968), aplicando regras transformacionais às frases simples para verificar sua aceitabilidade ou inaceitabilidade na língua. A análise propiciou reconhecer três propriedades interessantes em relação ao funcionamento do verbo fazer em português escrito do Brasil: a) sua forma predominante é como verbo suporte, diferentemente de muitos outros verbos do português; b) sua classificação passa por um continuum, não podendo ser descrita em termos de limite entre uma categoria e outra, mas em termos de fronteiras, onde duas categorias se mesclam e interpõem; c) é um dos verbos mais produtivos da língua portuguesa, o que se explica pela idéia da economia do esforço lingüístico.
