?Atr?s do processo tem gente?: homoparentalidade e suas repercuss?es no universo da ado??o / "Behind the process there are people": Homoparentality and it's repercussions in adoption.

Pesquisa do Estado do RJ - FAPERJ / The purpose of this research is to understand the representations of homossexuality from both the speechs of the legal actors that are actives on the adoption?s processes, mainly menbers of the thechnical crew from the Childhood, Youth and Elderly Court and the coordinators of the Adoption?s support groups, as homossexual couples that has adopted a child or are in the process to do such thing. I have identified two main strategies in the way that homossexuality is approached in this context: The ?invisibilization? of the peculiarities of the adoption by homossexual couples, as if the simple approval of the adoption by homossexual by the judiciary resolved all the conflicts in this theme, or, as if recognize the specificties of this family configuration would always mean a prejudice. On the other side, there is what I call the ?idealization? of homossexuality, especially on the interviews, as if homossexuality represented by itself an advantage in terms of the personal maturation of the candidate. It seems here the same operation, altough in a contrary way, of the logics that disqualifies the person solely because of his homossexuality. Yet homossexuality is suggested from the logic of stigma, even as a reaction to it, since, in a positive or a negative way, sexual orientation continues sticking out the others person?s predicates as a distinctive mark / O objetivo da presente pesquisa ? entender as representa??es da homossexualidade a partir tanto dos discursos dos atores jur?dicos presentes no processo de ado??o, notavelmente membros de equipes t?cnicas das Varas de Inf?ncia, da Juventude e do Idoso e coordenadores de Grupos de Apoio ?

MOTIVE through Automotive Compassionately Criticizing the Desires of Car Culture

Lehrmann, Erika R 20 December 2017 (has links)
My artwork represents my admiration and criticisms of car culture I have gathered throughout my personal experiences beginning at a very early age. The work exists in the form of drawings, paintings, prints, collage and sculpture. This work is created through the elements of personal narrative, desires, obsessions, and questions surrounding car culture and its influences. My intention to refurbish the icons of this culture has involved creating work that is both obsessive and critical for personal exploration and understanding of past memories.

“Paris Measurements” : The Inertia of the Thin Ideal on the Runways of Paris Fashion Week

Swahnström, Sara, Hultén, Agnes January 2019 (has links)
Background - Welcome to the 2010’s and its visual information culture informing about the century-old ideal of thinness, by sending (almost) exclusively thin bodies down the runway of Paris Fashion Week (PFW). This, while at the same time the academia and mass media are repeatedly articulating the necessity of a more ethical aesthetic within the fashion industry, while the argument that “thinness sells” lack empirical support, while measures are taken around Europe to discourage media bias and encourage healthy bodies walking the, and while the body positivity movement – applauding the diversity of body types – is on the rise in the Western society. Problem - How can it be explained that PFW, as an event organized to communicate the latest trends, and as an institution of a concept that thrives on change, is being stuck in an inertia of thin models? The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the explanations for the idealization of thin bodies in regard to female runway models, to be found in visual representations of PFW. Examining the paradox of the idealization of thin bodies has the potential to reveal the measures necessary to establish practices of ethical representation in the realm of PFW. Method - The search for explanations to the inertia of the thin ideal on the runways of PFW is based upon a qualitative research design and a method of semi-structured interviews. The sample consisted of fourteen people involved in the event of PFW. It is framed within three theoretical perspectives: the trickle-down, trickle-across and trickle-up theories – associated with authors such as Simmel (1957), King (1963) and Blumer (1969a; 1969b); a theoretical view of the relation between fashion, clothes and the body provided by Barnard (2014) and, lastly, the Organizational Ecology Theory presented by Hannan and Freeman (1977; 1989). Findings - The findings suggest that the inertia of the thin ideal on the runways of PFW is explained by the thin body not only being part of a long history and tradition of creating and showing fashion, but also being dressed in aesthetic value. At the same time, the explanations to the idealization, or inertia, of thin bodies on PFW are found to be multiple as well as paradoxical, a conclusion serving as an explanation in itself. Conclusion – It is difficult to point out the explanation to the inertia of the thin ideal – both in terms of factors and actors – not at least due to the explanations stemming from both social and cultural as well as economic aspects of fashion. As a consequence, every actor part the fashion industry need to understand the effects as well as the extent of idealization of thin bodies, and start to realize that public health is more important than profits.

Entre identification et différenciation : La mère et l’amour dans la constitution de l’identité féminine dans La fille démantelée, La plage d’Ostende et Orlanda de Jacqueline Harpman / Between identification and differentiation : The themes of mother and love in the construction of female identity in La fille démantelée, La plage d'Ostende and Orlanda by Jacqueline Harpman

Snårelid, Maria January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the importance of the mother figure for the definition of the female identity in three novels by the Belgian writer and psychoanalyst Jacqueline Harpman: La fille démantelée, La plage d’Ostende and Orlanda. This perspective is largely motivated by the specific character of the mother-daughter relation which is crucial to the formation of female identity. Freud already argued that it was impossible to understand the female identity without considering a woman’s preœdipal fixation to her mother. The analysis of the three novels is based on the concept of what Kristeva terms primary narcissism, which represents a delicate stage in the relationship between mother and child. In different ways, the analyzed novels are permeated by an oscillation between identification and differentiation. On a thematic level, the female protagonist’s desire to distance herself from the mother is always countered by an awareness of an intimate bond with her, and, paradoxically, it may seem, that the differentiation from the mother opens the way for a happy reunion between mother and daughter, now two individuals who no longer form a symbiotic unit. In this process of individuation described in the novels, a third instance which Freud called father of individual prehistory is crucial. Even though, at first sight, love appears to be the most important theme in the works of Harpman, this thesis argues that the theme of love is intimately linked to that of the mother figure and that it is necessary to read the works of Harpman through the spectrum of the mother-daughter relation in order to achieve a deeper understanding. Such a reading reveals among other things the key role of the inner dynamics of love. Love is not only the main theme of the work of Harpman, it’s also the meeting place of the two “love cures” of Harpman: literature and psychoanalysis, both situated in the field between narcissism and idealization, mechanisms that are inherent to what Freud called the subject’s eternal rebirth. The way in which writing functions as a way for the Harpman female protagonist to become a subject corresponds to Kristeva's idea of the entering into language, or into the symbolic system as Lacan put it, as a way to ward off the emptiness of the abjection. The symbolic system gives the subject a sense of being an individual with clear boundaries in a structured and intelligible world.

Le capitalisme comme forme historique et comme pratique sociale : une contribution à la philosophie sociale à partir de Marx et de la théorie de la régulation / Capitalism as historical form and social practice : a contribution to social philosophy based on Marx and régulation theory

Da Hora Pereira, Leonardo Jorge 17 October 2016 (has links)
This work on social philosophy aims at understanding the specificity of capitalism as a historical form of social organization and transformation of the world. It presents a descriptive and normative reflection on the capitalist social practice in order to better understand the complexity, diversity and plasticity of capitalist dynamics. Our starting point is Marx’s understanding of the logic of capital as a real abstraction. This enables us to grasp the capitalist practice by way of an abstract normativity, a “duty” which sets the idealisation of an infinite surplus value as a “suprasensible” end. Marx provides valuable theoretical resources not only to understand capitalist abstraction, but also to determine the form in which it operates and restructures concrete reality through the action of capitalists. It does so by making explicit the tensions related to such restructuring. Moreover, we contrast the Marxist conceptualization with more contemporary currents of interpretation of capitalist dynamics such as the macroeconomic and the institutionalist analyses of Regulation Theory and psycho-sociological studies on the neomanagement organization of labor and consumption. In this way, we show that the theory of capitalist practice must not only reflect the diversity and plasticity of the trajectory of capitalism but also reveal how it manages to reproduce itself (at least so far) even among so many crises and obstacles. That is why we propose an outline of a model of capitalist practice inspired by certain aspects of Kantian practical philosophy (especially the concept of imagination). With this model we intend to create a concept of capitalist imagination, which helps to understand the constant openness to new embodiments of capitalist idealizations. This conception of capitalist practice finally leads us to rethink the immanent critique of capitalism on a more creative and imaginative basis.

Hope or despair? : A quantitative survey on social media about people's attitude towards communication regarding climate change.

Åslund, Petra, Dahlgren, Magdalena January 2019 (has links)
Climate change is a constantly debated issue in our society today, and most people seem to have a sense of awareness that we need to act urgently and make major changes in our lifestyle in order to decrease our impact on the climate. Despite the fact that climate change leaves few untouched and many individuals also claim to be both well informed and engaged in the climate issue, the commitment is not always put into action. This environmental sociological quantitative study intends to investigate whether different types of climate messages have an impact on the individual's attitude towards climate change at the time of exposure. The study also examines whether there are differences in the individual's socio-economic background that affect their self-rated climate commitment. In the study 140 respondents with varying background variables participated (age, sex, level of education, place of residence and income). Respondents who were divided into two experimental groups and one control group were asked to answer a digital survey with a quasi-experimental design.                                                                                                                The result showed that the different communicative approaches to conveying issues around the climate did not have an impact on the respondents' attitude towards climate change at the time of exposure. There was also no significant difference with respect to the respondents' climate commitment between the background variables residential area and level of education. However, the result showed a significant difference between men and women regarding estimated climate engagement, which is in line with previous research.

The importance of language in a literary work building process is well recognized but, in practice, the language has received relatively little treatment in an area that plays an essential role. As Minas de Prata, work published in mid-nineteenth century, in the context of the political independence of Brazil, as part of a cultural and political project, reveals its author's efforts to build a hero that represents optimal values for Brazilian developing community. The idealization concerns the use of certain culturally contextualized linguistic choices showing some facts while hiding others in order to guide the reader s construction of meaning. It will be linguistically examined in terms of Appraisal, a system that deals with the writer's position in relation to the message and to the caller considering: Affection, Ethical Judgment of People and Assessment Aesthetic of Objects, proposed by Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG). This theory allows the relationship between linguistic microstructure of Alencar s text and the macro-structure of the speech, in which idealization appears, and is supported by the three simultaneous meanings constructed by language: information, interaction, and text construction. The SFG includes the Critical Linguistics for which any aspect of linguistic structure carries ideological significance. The study answers the following questions: (a) how does the idealization of the hero in As Minas de Prata is carried out? (b) What lexicogrammatical choices are made in terms of Ideational and Interpersonal Metafunctions to express this idealization?

Silva, Mariangela Carvalho Canellas 29 October 2008 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Mariangela Carvalho Canellas Silva.pdf: 370121 bytes, checksum: 04c9d00288e52af809511b1652e735f4 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-10-29 / Amongst its many advantages, the Internet enables a new way for individuals to find romantic relationships. As advantageous and practical as this process is, there is a great incidence of disappointment amongst some people, and also of unrestrained conduct on the Internet. My interest in studying these aspects stemmed from the fact that many people are disappointed by relationships that begin virtually because they idealize the other person in the relationship. Furthermore, some Internet users seem not to distinguish fact from fantasy, as they behave without perceiving the possible risks they are exposed to. Hence, the hypothesis of this study was to reflect on the possibilities offered by the Internet that enable idealization and acting out, in some cases. Through examples of relationships that put these facts into context, I have identified that the Internet favors the emergence of transference, as anonymity suspends alterity and allows the individual to say whatever they want in an artificial atmosphere similar to that in the analytical setting. In the process of investigation I discovered that many people, through their incapacity for symbolic contention, show their drive to be manifested in reality, operating indiscriminately with the contribution of the virtual other who offers themselves to be experienced as an object of the transference. Likewise, as in the virtual space there is an overlaying of real and virtual, borderline individuals, in not discriminating between fact and fantasy, shall move about these two spaces without conflict, illustrating that for them there is no difference between what they experience online and offline. Therefore, the Internet, in being virtual, blends with this form of subjectivity and can be experienced in conciliation with each person's emotional experience. The virtual has a seductive nature in presenting an infinite range of possibilities, so favoring both idealization of partners and acting out / Entre tantas vantagens, a Internet possibilita uma nova maneira de os indivíduos buscarem parceiros para relacionamentos afetivos.

THE IMPACT OF VIDEO CHATTING ON IDEALIZATION AND DISILLUSIONMENT FOR LONG DISTANCE DATING COUPLES

Kusisto, Laura 01 January 2015 (has links)
Previous research indicates a high rate of long distance relationships, especially among young adults. Yet, research in this area is lacking, particularly regarding the role of video chatting. Through the lens of the media richness theory and the hyperpersonal model, this qualitative study explores how video chatting impacts idealization and disillusionment in young adults’ long distance dating relationships. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with both partners of six heterosexual couples. Data was analyzed using the constant comparative approach and following the basic framework of open, axial, and selective coding used in grounded theory research. Results indicate that video chatting helps partners feel close to one another, though partners must still manage the differences between feeling close and actually being close. Couples use idealization and uncertainty management to reduce disillusionment, and couples who anticipate changes manage those changes more successfully. These findings suggest that video chatting mimics in-person communication more accurately than any other technology, though it cannot replace true geographic proximity. Nonetheless, video chatting appears to help minimize disillusionment by promoting healthy idealization for couples who use it throughout their long distance dating relationship.

Idéalisation d'assemblages CAO pour l'analyse EF de structures / Idealization of CAD assemblies for FE structural analyses

Boussuge, Flavien 08 July 2014 (has links)
Aeronautical companies face a significant increase in complexity and size of simulation models especially at the level of assemblies, sub-systems of their complex products. Pre-processing of Computer Aided Design (CAD) models derived from the digital representation of sub-systems, i.e., Digital Mock-Ups (DMUs), into Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) models requires usually many tedious manual tasks of model preparation and shape transformations, in particular when idealizations of components or assemblies have to be produced. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to make a contribution to the robust automation of the time-consuming sequences of assembly preparation processes. Starting from an enriched DMU with geometrical interfaces between components and functional properties, the proposed approach takes DMU enrichment to the next level by structuring components' shapes. This approach extracts a construction graph from B-Rep CAD models so that the corresponding generative processes provide meaningful volume primitives for idealization application. These primitives form the basis of a morphological analysis which identifies the sub-domains for idealization in the components' shapes and their associated geometric interfaces. Subsequently, models of components as well as their geometric representation get structured in an enriched DMU which is contextualized for FEA application. Based on this enriched DMU, simulation objectives can be used to specify geometric operators that can be robustly applied to automate components and interfaces shape transformations during an assembly preparation process. A new idealization process of standalone components is proposed while benefiting from the decomposition into sub-domains and their geometric interfaces provided by the morphological analysis of the component. Interfaces between sub-domains are evaluated to robustly process the connections between the idealized sub-domains leading to the complete idealization of the component. Finally, the scope of the idealization process is extended to shape transformations at the assembly level and evolves toward a methodology of assembly pre-processing. This methodology aims at exploiting the functional information of the assembly and interfaces between components to perform transformations of groups of components and assembly idealizations. In order to prove the applicability of the proposed methodology, corresponding operators are developed and successfully tested on industrial use-cases.
