J’avais dix ans. C’était après la guerre et l’Iran était sous embargo. A l’école je n’avais que deux crayons pour écrire mes devoirs, un noir et un rouge. Les deux étaient ornés du symbole d’une marque, un crocodile noir. Cela était aussi un gage de qualité. Mes crayons crocodiles écrivaient bien. J’étais habituée à les voir, mes crocodiles. Puis je passais beaucoup de temps avec ma tante. Elle faisait de la couture. Je jouais avec les restes des tissus. J’étais fascinée par les couleurs et par des formes que je créais avec ces bouts de tissu. J’ai sans doute commencé mes premiers collages à ce moment-là. Plus tard quand je suis devenue peintre, les animaux et les couleurs étaient la base de mes peintures. Parmi ces animaux le crocodile surgissait sans que je sois consciente de la raison de cette apparition. Un jour en réfléchissant je me suis souvenue de mes crayons d’enfance ! Quand j’ai commencé à peindre, les limites et les contraintes en Iran ne me permettaient pas de m’exprimer librement. Alors le jeu d’enfance que j’avais repris dans le style de ma peinture, me rendait celle-ci agréable et ludique. J’avais mes couleurs et le jeu, et j’exprimais ce que je voulais ; j’avais réussi à trouver un langage d’expression ludique et fort et j’en étais ravie. Je n’étais pas la seule à prendre le jeu comme moyen de contourner les limites et la censure. Déjouer les limites par le jeu était le centre de notre travail. La réflexion sur l’irruption du jeu dans l’art visuel contemporain et en particulier en Iran est devenu le sujet central de ma réflexion et de mon interrogation sur les raisons qui nous ont conduit à nous exprimer ainsi. Je l’ai donc choisie comme le sujet de ma thèse. [...] / I was ten years old. It was after the war and Iran was embargoed. At school I only had two pencils to write my homework, one black and one red. Both were decorated with the symbol of a brand, a black crocodile. It was also a guarantee of quality. My crocodile pencils wrote well. I was used to seeing them, my crocodiles. Then I spent a lot of time with my aunt. She was sewing. I played with the remains of the fabrics. I was fascinated by the colors and shapes that I created with these pieces of fabric. I probably started my first collages at that time. Later when I became a painter, animals and colors were the basis of my paintings. Among these animals the crocodile arose without my being aware of the reason for this apparition. One day while thinking I remembered my childhood pencils! When I started painting, the limits and constraints in Iran did not allow me to express myself freely. Then the childhood game that I had taken in the style of my painter, made me this one pleasant and playful. I had my colors and the game, and I expressed what I wanted; I had managed to find a language of playful and strong expression and I was delighted. I was not the only one to take the game as a way to get around the limits and the censure. Breaking the boundaries through play was the center of our work. The reflection on the irruption of the game in the contemporary visual art and in particular in Iran became the central subject of my reflection and my interrogation on the reasons which led us to express ourselves thus. O conceito de limite é a base para qualquer aluno de um curso superior que faça a disciplina de cálculo, portanto deveria haver uma ênfase especial na sua aprendizagem por parte de professores e alunos. Na sala de aula a ênfase é dada sobre a definição formal e sobre a forma que ela é apresentada nos livros de cálculo. Neste trabalho foi feita uma pesquisa sobre a natureza do conceito de limite junto com uma reflexão sobre o que é um conceito. Houve uma pesquisa para entender quais os mecanismos cognitivos que estão envolvidos quando um sujeito atua sobre um problema que envolve tal conceito. Buscaram-se elementos de apoio para a investigação no processo histórico de desenvolvimento deste conceito matemático e é preciso destacar a importância deste processo para desenvolver objetos digitais interativos que pudessem ser utilizados em experimentos desenvolvidos para entender os mecanismos cognitivos deste conceito. De modo paralelo ao estudo da história do conceito e seus antecedentes houve um outro estudo sobre objetos digitais interativos e as possibilidades de utilizá-los na investigação dos mecanismos cognitivos. A teoria escolhida para a análise epistemológica do conceito foi a Epistemologia Genética de Jean Piaget, especificamente a teoria relativa a relações e operações infralógicas, lógicas e ao pensamento formal. Na investigação realizada foi utilizado um problema como desequilíbrio inicial. Este forneceu o ponto de partida para questionar as certezas e dúvidas do sujeito de forma a investigar os mecanismos cognitivos que formam o conceito de limite e do contínuo numérico. / The concept of limit is the basis for every student accessing the college and needs study calculus, therefore it should be an emphasis about its learning from students and teachers. At the classroom the emphasis is on the formal definition and over the way it is presented at the books of calculus. On this work a research was carried on and it was about the nature of concept of limit together with a reflexion about what is a concept. There was a research for understanding the cognitive mechanisms related when um individual acts on a problem with that concept. There was a search for elements, in the historic development, that supported the investigation about that mathematic concept and is necessary to regard the importance of that process for the design of interactive digital objects that could be used in experiments designed for understanding the cognitive mechanism related to the concept of limits. In a parallel with the study about the history of limit concept and his ancestors there was another study about interactive digital objects and the possibilities for using that in the investigation of cognitive mechanism. The theory to be used in the analysis was The Genetic Epistemology of Jean Piaget, especially the section about infralogic and logic relation and operations and the formal thinking. In this work it was used a start problem that supplied the beginning point to argue the certainties and doubts of the subject in a way to investigate the cognitive mechanisms that form the limit concept and the numeric continuum, its basis.

[pt] O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar as formulações variações para o problema de análise limite e o desenvolvimento do processo de resolução, que envolve o método dos elementos finitos e as técnicas de programação matemática. As formulações variacionais são apresentadas em três versões: estática, cinemática e mista. Estas formulações são derivadas a partir da proposição das relações constitutivas na forma de pseudo-potenciais conjugados. Esses princípios são discretizados através do método dos elementos finitos. São propostos dois algoritmos iterativos de programação matemática para a solução do problema. Os algoritmos podem ser aplicados tanto para o comportamento plástico descrito por funções de escoamento lineares como não lineares. Nas aplicações numéricas são analisados corpos em estado plano de tensão, deformação e com simetria de revolução. / [en] The aim of this work is to present variational formulations for the limit analysis problem and solution procedures using the finite element method and mathematical programming techniques. The variational formulations are presented in three versions: static, kinematical and mixed. These formulations are derived from the proposition of the constitutive relationship in the form of conjugate pseudopotencials. Finite element discretizations are proposed for each of the three continuous problems. Two iterative mathematical programming algorithms are prosed to solve the problem. These algorithms can be applied to the plastic behavior described by a set of linear or non-linear yield functions. Limit analysis in plane strain, plane stress and axissymetric solids are considered in the numerical examples.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / A presente dissertação tem o objetivo de propor a reinclusão de elementos de Cálculo no ensino médio, pois no passado o Cálculo fazia parte do currículo e foi abolido após uma reforma no ensino da matemática. O trabalho apresenta os resultados de um levantamento estatístico sobre os índices de reprovação na disciplina Cálculo Diferencial e Integral I nos períodos mais recentes da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) e, também, uma pesquisa quantitativa com quarenta professores de matemática com o objetivo de analisar a viabilidade do projeto e os problemas a serem enfrentados. Por fim, a dissertação conta com uma série de atividades comentadas sobre o tema de limites, que é o foco do trabalho. Tais atividades podem ser incluídas já no 1 ano do ensino médio, paralelamente ao conteúdo de funções, e visam proporcionar aos estudantes o contato com elementos de Cálculo em uma linguagem acessível, e orientar o professor nesta tarefa / This dissertation has the objective of proposing the reinclusion of Calculus elements in high school, because in the past Calculus was part of the curriculum and it was abolished after a reform in mathematics teaching. This paper presents the results of a statistical return about the rates of fails in the subject Differential and integral Calculus I in recent terms at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and also a quantitative research with forty mathematics teachers, which has the objective of analyzing the viability of the project and the problems to be faced. Finally, the dissertation has a series of discussed activities about the theme of limits, which is the focus of this paper. These activities can be included in the first year of high school, at the same time as functions content. They aim to offer students a contact with Calculus elements in an accessible language and also to orientate the teacher in this task.

Também incluímos uma noção dos conceitos de limite e continuidade entendendo que a abordagem de alguns tópicos do cálculo no Ensino Médio seria de grande valia para auxiliá-los nessa tarefa, ressaltando que utilizamos a tecnologia em conjunto com os atores tradicionais (oralidade e escrita) através de aulas expositivas dialogadas. / Abstract: This paper aims, recognizing the importance of the theme Functions, to present a proposal of activities supported by Geogebra software as a way to enhance the learning of mathematics, where we emphasize the concept of function, the particularities of its representations and the properties, using of the transition between them as a suggestion to remedy the di culties encountered by students in understanding this theme. Trabalhando com palavras-símbolo, ela remete à existência humana como num jogo cifrado. Assim é Metal Rosicler, obra escolhida para ser “desvelada” nessa tese. Publicada em 1960, traz em si a linguagem cifrada, onde as palavras sempre significam mais do que a aparência, numa recorrência direta ao Simbolismo, do qual Cecília é notadamente herdeira. Ir além da palavra e perscrutar estados de alma e emoções da poetisa exigem do leitor um esforço de decifração. Neste sentido é que a Filosofia da Existência vem em auxílio. Amparado no ideário de Martin Heidegger e Karl Jaspers é possível perceber pontos de convergência da filosofia com a poética ceciliana. Temáticas como angústia, a aproximação da morte, a vivência de situações-limite e a decisão pela transcendência de tais situações, são ocorrências possíveis de serem encontradas, tanto na filosofia existencialista quanto em Metal Rosicler e mesmo na própria vida particular da escritora. O propósito da tese é tornar claras essas ilações na análise do “jogo cifrado” que é a obra de Cecília Meireles. / Cecília Meireles is a writer, who knows how to describe the existence in a poetic way. Working with symbol words, she refers to the human existence as a in code game. Thus Metal Rosicler, work that has been chosen to be clarified in this thesis, published in 1960, it brings a ciphered language, where the words always mean more than they appear and goes straight to Symbolism, of which Cecília is heiress in a special way. To go beyond the words and scrutinizing conditions of the soul and the emotions of the poet, demand a deciphering on the part of the reader. In this sense, the Existence Philosophy comes to help us. Supported by the concepts of Martin Heidegger and Karl Jaspers we can notice the philosophic converging points to the poetical cecilian literature. Themes such as anguish, the approach of death, the living of limiting-situations and the transcending of these situations, are likely to be found, as much in the philosophy as in Metal Rosicler and even in the private life of the writer. The objective of this thesis is to make these links clear when analyzing the “ciphered-game” which is at the heart of Cecília Meireles’ work.

Com o objetivo de compreender essa dinâmica, discutimos a formação e a estabilidade de soluções espacialmente localizadas e periódicas no tempo, breathers, no modelo de Peyrard-Bishop. O limite anticontínuo é utilizado para gerar o breather, então no início o acoplamento entre os osciladores é nulo. Depois de construir o breather, nós utilizamos a teoria de Floquet para estudar sua estabilidade. Os resultados foram analisados pelos multiplicadores de Floquet e a dinâmica energética do sistema. We study issues relating to the asymptotic limit in relation to the parameters and decay rates. In the context of asymptotic limit, as the main result, we present a positive response to the conjecture made by Lagnese and Lions in 1988, where the Von-Kármán model is obtained as singular limit when k tends to infinity, the Mindlin-Timoshenko system. Introducing appropriate damping mechanisms (internal and boundary), we also show that the energy of solutions for the Mindlin-Timoshenko system has decay properties exponential and polynomial, with respect to the parameters. / Esta tese aborda a dinâmica do sistema de Mindlin-Timoshenko para vigas e placas. Estudamos questões relacionadas com o limite assintótico em relação aos parâmetros e as taxas de decaimento. No contexto do limite assintótico, como resultado principal, apresentamos uma resposta positiva à conjectura feita por Lagnese e Lions em 1988, onde o modelo de Von-Kármán é obtido como limite singular, quando k tende ao infinito, do sistema de Mindlin-Timoshenko. Introduzindo mecanismos de amortecimento apropriados (internos e de fronteira), também mostramos que, sob certas condições, a energia de solução do sistema de Mindlin-Timoshenko tem propriedades de decaimento exponencial e polinomial com relação aos parâmetros.
