ABSTRACT - Chrysodeixis includens (Walker) and Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) are considered pests of great importance in soybean crop, while Diatraea saccharalis (Fabricius) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) is considered important in maize crop in the Brazilian Central region. For the successful control of these pests using Bt plants as well as development of resistance management strategies, it is essential to know the larval stage movement of these insects. The study was carried out inside saran cages (3.00 x 3.00 x 1.80 m), in order to avoid natural infestation. Larvae were released in a plant located in the center of the cages. Larvae and injuries were observed in order to register the position in the plant and the location in the cage. Larvae of C. includens e H. armigera moved between soybean plants, whereas D. saccharalis practically remained in the plants where they were released. Thus, the adoption of non-Bt and genetically modified seed mixture for refuge establishment in Bt crops may be suitable only for D. saccharalis. / 134533/2015-1

Les réfugiés de l'Unigenitus et l'Eglise de Hollande (1725-1745 ) / Unigenitus Refugees and the church of Holland (1725-1745)

Van Kempen, Muriel 09 January 2012 (has links)
In 1724, the chapter of Utrecht consecrated its own bishop, thus breaking up for good with Rome. And strikingly enough, at the same time in France, jansenists were increasingly persecuted, especially in congregations. The Dutch clergy of Utrecht has for long maintained close links with French jansenism circles so that it became naturally and quickly the best place to shelter these oppressed monks. The various episodes, including the genesis of this makeshift church, shall retain our attention and be the main topic of our study. French jansenists soon relied upon this new independent church which was expected to provide a good example for Rome to follow. Yet, pretty soon, all their dreams and hopes vanished and melted away as they faced reality. Division, added to several difficulties arose on different levels, be it in the Dutch Church, in communities, in France or in the United Provinces, and consequently aggravated the situation. Those latter hindrances threatened not only the existence and the future of the refuge but also compromised the Utrecht Church. However, the episcopate of Meindaerts (1739-1767) brought about relief and comfort.

Zelaya, Silvia Cristina January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with the relations between a network of governmental and non-governmental actors in the struggle for the creation of a migration policy and public policies for migrants and refugees in contemporary Brazil. Focused on the different "protagonisms", this study followed a series of events (meetings, conferences, seminars, public hearings, rounds of conversation and festivals) oriented to the visualization of the "migratory issue" occurred in Porto Alegre and São Paulo between the years 2013 and 2016. I understand these events as privileged scenarios for observing the conflicts, tensions and disputes in the production not only of an "immigrant population" but of the process of constructing "immigration" as a fact, as a field of intervention and as a goal of government technologies . The thesis is based on a fieldwork conducted as a multisite ethnography that has accompanied the demands of migrant rights activists (people from religious congregations, non-governmental organizations, immigrant movements and researchers) primarily directed to the "State." Drawing on the work of Michel Foucault and Didier Fassin on State and Civil Society, I have focused on the analysis of the various actors who seek to intervene in the migratory reality and the different understandings on human dignity. In the first part, I explained the construction of a multisited research and my several positions occupied in the field work. A second part is dedicated to analyzing the processes that led these actors to a particular type of engagement in the claim of specific public policies for immigrants in Brazil. Finally, a third part of the thesis is dedicated to an approach with different groups of immigrants in order to know their forms of organization and perception of their protagonism. With these elements in mind, and attentive to the role of the "State", visualized from Its agents and knowledge, I developed the analysis that reveals the complexity and divergence between the humanitarian representation of Brazilian migration policy and the daily experiences of immigrants and refugees in Brazil.

Dendroécologie et génétique d'une population de hêtre (Fagus sylvatica) en marge chaude de l'aire de répartition de l'espèce / Dendroecology and genetics of a beech (Fagus sylvatica) population at the species' warm range margin

Ouayjan, Adib 07 December 2017 (has links)
Modern climate change is expected to cause a decline of forest tree populations that reside at the current low-latitude margin of species' ranges. Warming and a changing water balance stress are expected to result in reduced tree growth and reproduction and increasing mortality. This doctorate thesis investigates the demographic and genetic structure of a natural beech (Fagus sylvatica) population located in a climate refugium at the species' xeric range margin in SW France. This population persists on the slopes of a karstic canyon along the Ciron River (Gironde), a place that already harboured beech during the past glacial period. The overall goal of the present thesis is to better understand how this refugial population has managed to persist through past climate changes and how it responds to recent global warming. The first thesis chapter assesses the genetic structure and diversity of the entire adult tree population (n = 932) to infer its postglacial history. The study reveals that the stand consists of two genetic clusters with different levels of diversity, which are likely to reflect an ancient local population that is successively being colonized by immigrant genotypes. The second thesis chapter investigates the mating system and patterns of pollen movement within the population by analysing seed progenies from selected mother trees (n = 30). It shows that predominant mating between genetically related neighbours has resulted in a very strong spatial genetic structure, a phenomenon that helps explain the observed slow admixture of the two genetic clusters present in the population. The third thesis chapter performs an extensive dendroecological analysis based on a third of the adult beech population (n = 317), plus 79 Pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur) sampled for comparison. Tree-ring studies and modeling based on climate projections reveal that beech growth has been so far relatively slightly affected in an increasingly xeric climate conditions. A strong increase in radial growth has been shown for beech between 1860 and 1920 that ceased later on. Then growth has declined imperceptibly since the 1980s without showing any accentuated decreasing according to the future climate scenarios data of the region. Fine-scale analyses including carbon stable isotopes show great among-tree heterogeneity in performance (in terms of growth and water use efficiency) that is partly driven by the fine-scale topography of the refugial habitat and might also be influenced to a small extent by the tree genotype. Its combination of dendroecological and molecular ecological research approaches has enabled the thesis to attain important insights into the special character of the Ciron beech population and its performance within a constraining abiotic environment. Such insights represent valuable background information for the conservation and management of this and other refugial forest tree populations in a rapidly changing climate.

La demande de retour à la maison du sujet âgé dément : la quête d'un refuge archaïque pour lutter contre l'angoisse de mort / "1 want to go home" : an identity request expressed by demented persons

Meyer, Audrey 20 May 2016 (has links)
Thirteen persons suffering from cognitive illness and expressing their wish of going back home in a protected care unit have participated in a research in order to understand the function of this request by using three tools : semi-directive interview (sick person/family), drawing of the house and Senior Apperception Technique. The results underline the existence of triggering factors for the request such as the perception of external or internal threat. Demented persons often hallucinate their childhood’s house in order to protect their identity. This mnesic hallucination is frequently associated with the quest for the mother and the first protective refuge, the maternal belly, in order to overcome a feeling of loss of self. This desire translates a nostalgic quest for a past idealized with impossibility to project oneself in a future enclosed by the last home, the death. This request also corresponds in search of an external object having a function of a containing and kindly auxiliary of the self.

Importance de la structure des haies, des lisières, et de la disponibilité en abris sur la biodiversité, implications en termes de gestion / Importance of hedge structure, fringe habitat, and shelter availability for biodiversity - implications for management

Lecq, Stéphane 19 December 2013 (has links)
During the last decencies, massive amounts of hedgerows and forest hedges have beendestroyed in Europe whereas increasing fire regimes threatened Mediterranean habitats. The loss of these hedge habitats is concomitant to a drastic loss of biodiversity. Notablythrough the decrease of shelter available to the fauna. This thesis aims to investigate therole of refuges considering different scales and biological systems. First, the positiveinfluence of the availability of shelter at the base of hedgerows on biodiversity has beendemonstrated using surveys and a field experiment. For that, a novel technique has beendeveloped by combining the advantages of rapid biodiversity assessments with non-lethalprocedures. At an intermediary scale, the positive impact of habitat opening on ophidianpopulations has been shown in a forest context. Finally, individual monitoring of Hermanntortoises allowed us to examine the impact of a major fire in habitat changes; the resultssuggest that burnt habitats remain suitable on the long term.In conclusion, the importance of refuges on biodiversity have been demonstrated atdifferent time, spatial and accuracy scales. In practice, technical recommendations shouldtake into account this key element to manage hedgerows and other hedge habitats; thiscurrently not the case.
