We joined decision-making philosophy by researchers from business school and researchers from engineering in order to deal with the problem more extensively. We utilized traditional multicriteria decision-making methods, like AHP and TOPSIS, in order to evaluate alternatives according decision maker s preferences. The both techiniques were modeled by using definitions from the Fuzzy Sets Theory to deal with imprecise data. Additionally, we proposed a multiobjetive GRASP algorithm to perform an order allocation procedure between all pre-selected alternatives. These alternatives must to be pre-qualified on the basis of the AHP and TOPSIS methods before entering the LCR. Our allocation procedure has presented low CPU times for five pseudorandom instances, containing up to 1000 alternatives, as well as good values for all considered objectives. This way, we consider the proposed model as appropriate to solve the supplier selection problem in the SCM context. It can be used to help decision makers in reducing lead times, cost and risks in their supply chain. The proposed model can also improve firm s efficiency in relation to business strategies, according decision makers, even when a large number of alternatives must be considered, differently from classical models in purchasing literature / Este trabalho apresenta uma abordagem h?brida para o problema de sele??o de fornecedores em cadeias de suprimentos geridas com base na metodologia SCM (do ingl?s, Supply Chain Management).

The processes of identifying the best suppliers for a new product or service or even to evaluate the performance of an existing supplier are essential tasks in managing the supply chain, in order to enable that the collaborative process occurs in an efficient manner. The supplier selection problem (SSP) fits the multicriteria context due to involve several qualitative and quantitative criteria in the decision making process. So, the main objective of this research is to propose a model of multiple criteria decision aid for suppliers sorting in levels of collaboration in supply chain management, using ELECTRE TRI method. Several studies have approached the supplier selection problem in multicriteria context. Most of these studies address the choice and ranking problems and specific methods are proposed for this purpose. However, the sorting problem is not much explored, and in addition, there are few studies that specifically address the subject of collaboration with suppliers considering multicriteria context. Whereas in most cases, in several business segments, companies have at their base, suppliers with different features and degrees of performance, it becomes necessary to decide at what level to collaborate with each type of supplier. Thus, using the proposed model makes it possible to manage suppliers, considering their differentiation in terms of performance, sorting them into appropriate levels of collaboration in order to facilitate the adoption of different strategies with each category. Moreover, with the use of this model, it is possible that the decision in this context occurs in a systematic manner and, considering the repetitive nature of this problem, the proposed model constitutes a useful tool for decision aid. This tool can be used periodically in accordance with the needs of the decision maker in order to provide feedback of the evaluation to suppliers, monitoring the performance in the defined criteria set and, reviewing the strategy adopted if necessary.

Rodrigo Lemos Pereira 09 June 2011 (has links)
The complexity in the vehicles production process is due mainly to the large number of Assembled components that are generally characterized by a high technological content. The castings, one of these components, fit perfectly in this category and they only can be made at a competitive quality and cost level if a proper tooling is available. The molds and dies manufacturing process requires modern computer technologies and materials of high reliability and performance. Although made to mass production, toolings are unique products whose manufacturing requires technical knowledge and familiarity with the casting process where they will be employed. The selection of a casting tooling supplier is usually a complicated and time- consuming issue. The decision process is based on several criteria that can be conflicting or superposed, objective or subjective. In the present paper the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to select a tooling supplier for the manufacturing of a transmission housing by the die casting process. Several qualitative and quantitative criteria for the tooling supplier selection were identified through the technical literature review and discussion with foundry specialists. Subsequently, the criteria hierarchy was established in three levels and comparison matrixes were developed to determine the priorities among them. The consistency ratio for each matrix was calculated and the final score of each potential supplier was determined. The study was concluded with a sensitivity analysis that contributed to confirm the choice of the selected supplier. The application of the methodology improved the selection process by reducing the subjectivity and by weighing the major selection criteria.

Supplier Selection for High-tech Start-up Companies : A Case Study of a Firefighting Robot / Utvärdering av leverantörer för högteknologiska nystartsföretag : En fallstudie av en brandrobot

Löfdahl, Benjamin, Sjödin, Birger January 2013 (has links)
The growing need to source manufacturing activities to original equipment manufacturers has presented a strategic challenge for firms in evaluating and selecting supplier partners for their products. Supplier performance evaluation is a well-researched area within supply chain management. Though several authors have contributed with models for supplier selection, there still exist uncertainties regarding how high-tech start-up firms should capitalize on these models. By conducting a case study at AB Realisator Management Consulting currently developing a new firefighting robot concept called FUMO™, the authors were able to develop a model for supplier selection and test it on a real case scenario. Results indicate that high-tech start-up firms in general should apply the following step-by-step process for selecting suppliers: Align supply chain strategy with product characteristics regarding supply and demand uncertainty, select supplier performance metrics from the comprehensive bank of metrics presented in this thesis related to the supply chain strategy, evaluate suppliers based on the selected performance metrics using the decision making framework Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). By following the suggested process step by step, incorporating performance metrics to the AHP structure, high-tech start-up firms will be able to find strategically suitable suppliers to manufacture their products.

The Value Of Environmental Sustainability: A Shared Responsibility : An exploration of B2B companies in Sweden and their costs and benefits of selecting sustainable business partners, using ISO 14001 as a point of reference.

Nilsson Persson, Robyn, Falk, Tindra January 2022 (has links)
Background: The business-to-business (B2B) industry stands for a significant portion of the environmental issue, yet the customer is still having price, quality, and service as major determinants for the choice of suppliers. The difficulty on how to evaluate environmental factors is hence increasingly demanding. One common and simple way for businesses to present their efforts towards sustainability is to certify their Environmental Management System with an ISO 14001 certification. Nonetheless, the question remains of the value of this premise in Sweden in our contemporary world. This study thereby investigates the value of working with environmentally sustainable business partners in the B2B market in Sweden. Purpose: This paper aims to explore the cost and benefits of working with environmentally sustainable business partners, using ISO 14001 as a reference point, within the Swedish B2B market.  Method: This study adheres to the interpretivist paradigm, with a qualitative approach. Nine semi-structured interviews with six B2B companies in Sweden were conducted and analysed via thematic analysis, using codes and emerging themes.  Conclusion: There are severe gaps in the ISO 14001 framework, and that one cannot trust it as much regarding the environment as intended or as much as firms do today. The real value for environmental sustainability is created when sustainable B2B firms start selecting suppliers based on their own sustainable values, not on time efficiency or costs. For a shared responsibility, firms have to evaluate suppliers based on actual and not perceived environmentally sustainable efforts.
