Hammare, Anneli, Gillisson, Carina January 2018 (has links)

Fonseca, Lucia Lima da January 2011 (has links)
This study investigated the production of teaching from professions in service in a school, having as a focus of analysis the relations between the structures and the school rules in which these professionals work or have worked, and the interference, or not, in this production – and how and in what measure it happens. To do so, Charles Sanders Peirce‟s semiotics concepts of language and sign were used, as well as Marcos Villela Pereira‟s concept of teaching, articulated to the most current signs produced along this study – listening and team. The field search, conducted in a private school in Porto Alegre, investigated the structure and the rules – in function – of the school in focus and the relation of them to the teamwork, both teachers and the other professionals. The methodology used was the school‟s documental analysis and questionnaires specially designed for this search. Among the several signals produced along this process, the listening and the team – the team listening – were the ones which gave more possibilities to learn from the school searched, learn the processes of production of teaching from the subjects who work there and learn the collective and autonomous way that the school‟s project is put in practice.

MANAGING PUBLIC SECTOR JOB SATISFACTION: THE INFLUENCE OF TEAM BOUNDARY SPANNING, DOWNWARD COMMUNICATION AND DEMOGRAPHIC DIVERSITY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

DiStefano, Charles Ian 01 December 2016 (has links)
In this study I examine how management practices influence federal employee job satisfaction. I find that employee perception of team boundary spanning, organizational communication and demographic diversity has a sizable influence on job satisfaction. These interactions are moderated by perceptions of managerial trust. This analysis of 2014 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) data suggests that managerial influence on job satisfaction can be more accurately measured by evaluating facets of management.

Complementarity in therapy

Louw, Humarita 11 1900 (has links)
In this study Complementarity in Therapy, it has been outlined how the construct, cybernetic complementary description or complementarity can be used in therapy to invent an imaginary team for the helper working solo. Complementarity is used to create alternative ideas, simulating the contribution of a team especially in pre-session hypothesising. A literature study explores the possibilities of complementarity as a cybernetic constructivist construct. Of special significance is the contributions of Varela's formulation of complementarity as trinities, introducing the slash (/) Keeney's emphasis on recursion indicated by circulating arrows and Flemeons emphasis on imbrecation and levels of connection illustrated with different types of lettering. A case study is described to illustrate how complementarity was applied. / Social Work / M.A. (Social science (Mental health))

An assessment of the Command and General Staff Officer Core Course effectiveness in developing student critical thinking

Civils, Timothy H., Jr January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Education / Department of Educational Leadership / Royce Ann Collins / There is a need for critical thinking skills in our society. This research study examines graduate student’s growth in critical thinking after experiencing a specifically designed curriculum. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Common Core Course to change student critical thinking skills and habits of the mind attributes, and further examined instructor perceptions of the curriculum, instructional methods, and instructor skills and behaviors that impact student critical thinking development within the Core Course. This study used an explanatory sequential mixed method research design in order to answer the four research questions and test their respective hypotheses. Eight student staff groups (n=120) were selected from the Command and General Staff Officer Common Core Course Class 15 population, and the quantitative data used to conduct the analyses was derived from a pretest and posttest using the Military and Defense Critical Thinking Inventory (MDCTI), a nationally recognized instrument designed specifically for individuals in the defense and military profession. The qualitative component of the study consisted of focus group interviews conducted with instructors from the eight selected staff groups (n=24) to examine their perceptions on the role of the curriculum, instructional methods, and instructor skills and behaviors in developing student critical thinking. The data collected from these interviews were analyzed and presented using a collective case study approach. Analysis of the student pretest and posttest score change results indicated statistically significant changes in analysis, induction, deduction, and overall critical thinking skills, and in the communicative confidence, professional confidence, expression, and directness habits of the mind attributes. Further analysis indicated that there was no statistically significant change differences in critical thinking skills or habits of the mind attributes between the teaching team groups. Analysis of the qualitative data revealed nine themes that were categorized within the theoretical framework of curriculum, instructional methods, and instructor skills and behaviors. Four additional themes emerged which did not address the role of curriculum, instructional methods, and instructor skills and behaviors in developing student critical thinking. These themes included: lack of contact time, the importance of the physical classroom configuration, the military/school culture, and student attributes.

A Couples-Based Team Approach to Prophylactic Bilateral Mastectomy and Social Disapproval

January 2018 (has links)
abstract: Prophylactic bilateral mastectomy (PBM) is the current recommended course of action for women with increased genetic risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Nevertheless, many receive negative feedback from family and friends surrounding the decision to undergo this surgery because they do not have cancer when the decision is made; this results in a limited support network for coping with their PBM. Low social support is associated with depression, negativity, and anxiety. Women who had a PBM, were currently undergoing or had completed reconstruction, and were in a committed romantic relationship at the time of the surgery were surveyed (N = 53). The hypotheses that women who received negative feedback about their decision to have a PBM would have poorer individual well-being, and that the use of a couples-based team approach would moderate these adverse effects were tested. Data analyses support the hypotheses that women in couples taking a team approach to PBM have better individual well-being. The effects of negative feedback from others about the decision to undergo a PBM on personal mental health were moderated by use of a couples-based team approach. Women who received negative feedback from multiple sources had better outcomes if they used a couples-based team approach. Many women have a preventative oophorectomy around the same time as their PBM. Menopause is associated with side effects such as increased vasomotor symptoms and decreased sexual functioning. The hypothesis that surgical menopause is related to declines in sexual satisfaction following PBM was also tested. Regression analysis revealed no relationship. This study indicates that women who experience social disapproval and lack collaborative support from their significant other may be at increased risk for poor individual well-being following PBM. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Psychology 2018

INGEN STYR ALLA, ALLA STYR VARANDRA : En platt organisationsstruktur utan formellt ledarskap

Reza, Bayar, Törnkvist, Anna January 2018 (has links)

Extending TACSI with Support for Group Behavior

Nordfelth, Magnus, Skogman, Fredrik January 2006 (has links)
This thesis investigates the possibilities to extend a tactical air combat simulator, named TACSI, with support for team behavior in fight and attack scenarios. A model for describing teamwork has been developed. The model uses plans and primitive team actions to achieve goals. A social structure is used to transfer the responsibility for making decisions from the team to a single agent within the team. Special care have been taken to allow an effctive distribution of targets within the team. In order to test the concepts of the model and to evaluate the applicability in TACSI, a limited implementation of the team behavior model have been made. The results show that the concepts of the model works and that the model is applicable in TACSI, but some things is left to be specified in order to make a complete implementation.

A humanização em terapia intensiva na perspectiva da equipe de saúde / Humanization in intensive care from the perspective of the health team

Fabiana Bolela 25 June 2008 (has links)
Building up changes is essential in the current health system, and more specifically in the intensive care context, with a view to care humanization. This involves, among other aspects, acknowledging users as citizens, in their integrality and subjectivity. This study aims to apprehend what care humanization means to health team professionals working in intensive care, that is, to understand their perception and experiences about what humanizing actions are for each of them in the context of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Approaching some ideas from the phenomenological reference framework, interviews were held with professionals from the different categories working at the ICU of a teaching hospital in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, between September 2007 and January 2008, based on the following guiding question: \"considering your daily work, tell me about your experiences at this ICU, with respect to situations you consider \"humanizing\" and others you consider \"dehumanizing\". The following themes emerged from the analysis of the interviews: \"Humanization implies acknowledging the patient in his/her singularity and integrality\", \"Technical practice X humanization in daily reality at the ICU\", \"Work conditions and their implications in the humanization of care at the ICU\", \"The team\'s preparation to build up humanized care\". Some situations that consider patients in their integrality and singularity at the ICU are not always understood and valued by the team, facing difficulties to acknowledge differences between the needs of hospitalized patients. Moreover, the dichotomy \"technical practice/humanization\" is significantly present at the ICU, mainly for the nursing team, as distinct poles that are hard to conciliate in the complex care act. As to the work conditions, the health team appoints aspects related to the insufficient number of professionals, activity overload, daily handling of situations marked by human suffering, physical structure at the ICU and traditional work management, mainly what the nursing service is concerned, as factors that make the construction of care humanization more difficult, as physically and mentally exhausted professionals, who are suffering, are not open to welcome the other. The team\'s preparation for humanized care received little emphasis, but reveals to be limited. The training process, either initial or permanent, is a significant strategy for daily reflection and recreation of care delivery. In this context, some suggestions are presented for the research scenario, so as to promote reflection and the construction of new ways of conception and action with respect to humanization in intensive care.
