Guimarães Rosa e outros escritores provincianos latino-americanos (Arguedas, Rulfo, Rosa Bastos e García Marquez) / Guimarães Rosa and other Latin American writers of province (Arguedas, Rulfo, Roa Bastos and García Márquez)

Mario René Rodríguez Torres 04 March 2009 (has links)
In this dissertation, I examine the relationship between the work of Jõao Guimarães Rosa (especially Grande Sertão: Veredas and some of his short stories) and that of other writers called \"provincianos\" by José María Arguedas: Arguedas himself, Rulfo, and, to a lesser extent, García Márquez. In addition to these authors, I examine Guimarães Rosa in relation to Augusto Roa Bastos, an author who would later be included in the group of \"provincianos\" by some critics following Arguedas. The dissertation analyzes why these writers describe themselves as humble cowboys, peasants, or natives who dislike intellectuals and who write works that appear to be narrated from a \"provincial\" point of view. The aim of the \"provincianos\" is to make the hinterlands appear in the literary, in writing addressed to the city, in reaction to the modernization process that seems to condemn the cultures of those regions to disappear. Furthermore, the dissertation evaluates what remains of that response, indicating that it may be a ruin. In the analysis of the work of the \"provincianos\", different interpretations of the subject are considered. From the classic studies of Ángel Rama and Antonio Candido to the texts of critics who have questioned those studies, such as Alberto Moreiras and Idelber Avelar.

In the Eye of the Sun (1992)

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2017-05-31 / Neste trabalho, analisamos a literatura produzida pela escritora egípcia Ahdaf Soueif nas obras The Map of Love (1999) e In the Eye of the Sun (1992). / In this work, we analyze the literature produced by the Egyptian writer Ahdaf Soueif in the works of The Map of Love (1999) and In the Eye of the Sun (1992). In both books the author creates in her narratives a journey story that allows her protagonist characters an exchange between East and West / West and East. Subalterns of their own experience, the characters seek the responses to the productions of meaning culturally experienced by the subjects of these geographic poles reconfiguring, thus, their local histories and a hegemony of Western knowledge. The decolonization of thought judges the coloniality of power and criticism of the knowledge of European discourse. In rebuilding the paradigms the subaltern develops the liminal thinking, points around the varied meanings of meaning, theorizing about the impacts and the various meanings in the subject's life. This is what allows Soueif (2004) an elaboration of the concept "mezzaterra" (a common place). The characters undergo an embodiment of the senses, which Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht (2010) calls production of presence. The education of the leading characters allows - as well as a postcolonial colony to the outside - the recognition of the influence of imperialism and an action of the reactionary classes on the outside. Knowledge and experience, however, expose the proximity between the East and the West through the articulations between cultures, assimilations and reformulations: the process of transculturation.

Husung, Kirsten January 2006 (has links)
This study focuses on the different strategies that the author uses to subvert the patriarchal and the colonial discourses which are reflected in the novel "Les Honneurs perdus" of Calixthe Beyala. In the introduction a theoretical background is given which includes feminist and postcolonial literary theories and their relation to postmodern theories and deconstruction. The introduction underlines the importance of the constitution of subject in postcolonial and feminist theories in contrast to deconstruction of subject in postmodernism and poststructuralism. The analysis demonstrates that the novel can be seen as a female bildungsroman in the protagonist’s intent to create an autonomous identity. A gynocentric writing and the dialogue with another female character, the heroine’s antagonistic double, which includes the possibility of a female genealogy, as well as the final love to a white man, contribute essentially to transculturation and the construction of the heroine’s hybrid identity. The second chapter of the analysis shows that the dichotomies Europe–Africa and man–woman in the binary system of the western way of thinking are very marked in the novel. Finally the third chapter points out how the different narrative techniques like the mixing of different language levels, the creation of new words, the use of irony and carnivalation, a special form of parody, as well as the intertextuality of magic realism deconstruct and subvert the heritage of colonial and patriarchal values and demonstrate the post-colonial misery both in the protagonist’s native suburb in Cameroun and in Paris.

Acapulco et le Galion de Manille, la réalité quotidienne au XVIIe siècle / Acapulco and the Galion of Manila : The daily reality during the XVIIth century

Palazuelos Mazars, Béatriz 11 June 2012 (has links)
Repelled after Hernán Cortés’s interest, Acapulco was boosted again when Andrés de Urdaneta proposed it as the American port of the transpacific line tying up Asia and America. With the tornavuelta, Spain established itself in the heart of Far East, supported Philippines Islands from New Spain, and allowed the galleon to carry out the commercial exchanges Manila had with the Chinese, leading to the settling in Acapulco of the crown’s power and to the creation of a trade fair.Once a year, a Galion loaded with luxury oriental goods was to leave Manila and pick up the situado and the socorro in Acapulco. This so small village was transformed in an attractive source of prestige for all Hispanic America by the richness of the novelties which fulfilled their aspirations for recognition that Spain denied them.In the theatre of Acapulco, two mentalities were in conflict: Spain’s archaic mercantile policy, and the dynamic and modern Novohispanos behavior, issued from the economical restructuration coming from the decreasing of the native population. Strong gaps, amplified by a double Royal language led to smuggling, corruption and collusion of merchantmen with officials, ways that became necessary for the profitability of the lawful trade.During the XVII century, Acapulco was a spot of clashes, of synthesis, of influence from various worlds and their respective cultures. Its path was neither continuous nor straight, but permanently and profoundly engraved. Despite difficulties, Acapulco led towards a new order not very far from our today globalization.

Pregón a jeho vliv na vývoj sonu v díle Nicoláse Guilléna / Pregón and its impact on the development of ultrasound in the work of Nicolas Guillén.

Grešová, Martina January 2016 (has links)
(English) The aim of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between pregoneros, street vendors in Cuba and the Cuban avant-garde poetry of the author Nicolas Guillén. The assumption that both elements have common features was primarily the fact that most street vendors popularity correlates with the end of modernism and the avant-garde beginnings, at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. In the theoretical part, we first focused on the cultural development of Cuban society, which created the basis for the study of music and literature. We found that music was the common denominator in both areas pregones (verses made up of street vendors) and Guillen's poetry. In practical part, we focused on a formal and thematic analysis of pregoners and poems from the collections Sóngoro Cosongo and Motivos de Son. Based on these analyzes we conclude that both elements have in common features of the temporal parallelism and orientation of the Cuban folklore, tradition and black roots, but on their basis we can not confirm a direct impact on Guillen poetry.

Podíl překladu na konstituování latinskoamerické kultury / The Translation in Latin American Culture Formation

Šlosárová, Simona January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis aims to emphasize the role of translation as a transcultural process in interaction of native and European culture and subsequent formation of a new, Latin American culture. The thesis investigates a role of interpreters during first expeditions and the conquest of the Aztec and Inca Empire, but focuses mainly on activity of missionaries who came to the New World to Christianize the native population. They decided to prefer Christianization to Hispanicization and started to study native languages. They wrote grammars, lexicons and religious writings in multilingual versions, translated many works into native languages, and studied and described the native culture, thus preserving it at the same time. This thesis takes also the ethical point of view on their activities: on the one hand, missionaries were the initiators of a multicultural dialogue; on the other hand, their interest in the Indians often only served the puspose of conquering them more easily.

Colón Rodriguez, Raul Ernesto January 2011 (has links)
Abstract : Desiderio Navarro (1948 -), translator, thinker, theoretician and cultural activist remains almost unknown in Canada, North America, and even in Europe, despite the fact that his work was recognized in 2009 with the Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands. He has considerably influenced the Cuban and Latin-American cultural thinking for the last forty years, particularly thanks to the journal Criterios, that he founded in 1972. Since then, this publication has continuously offered to the Hispanic public critical essays on aesthetics, theories of literature, arts and culture produced by Russian theoreticians (Bakhtine and Lotman, among others). Navarro's translation of theories, however, was not a goal in itself. This thesis shows that the path of this committed intellectual represents, on one side, a permanent fight against national and international doxas, and, on the other side, a constant dissemination effort of new theories and ideas, of stimulation of the theoretical and artistic creation, to promote the role of the critical intellectual in a society under permanent ideological stress. Navarro succeeded to combine translation, theory, and social activism in a recursive equation. This work analyzes a corpora of Russian texts on culture and literature, translated into Spanish by Navarro and published in 2009, in an anthology. The analysis underlines the weight and impact of two key determinants in his translation work: his transcultural identity and his antineocolonial positioning.

Les soleils des indépendances: da sociedade sólida ao prelúdio dos laços efêmeros / Les soleils des Indépendances: from solid society to the prelude of ephemeral bonds

Maria Suzana Moreira do Carmo 10 March 2008 (has links)
The novel Les soleils des Indépendances, written by Ahmadou Kourouma engendered a number of criticism studies since its publication in 1968 by the Presses Universitaires du Canada. In spite of the authors\'s thematic or ideological orientation, the black African novel frequently reveals the conflicts generated by the imposed European culture. Most of the studies concerning the first published work of Kourouma underline the introduction of logicalcognitive structures of the Malinké thinking within the French language, representing an effective innovation from this author that marked a new orientation of the African literature. Proposing a new analysis for \"Les soleils des Indépendances\" to the criticism tendency that reinforce the conflicts between the African and Occidental cultures, the present research, evaluated the disrupture of aesthetic and thematic structures, showing how the route from tradition to modernity, takes the individual to re-organize its identity. This work also showed that, in contrast with the refusal of Fama, main character of the novel, to trade his cultural identification, his first wife, Salimata, becomes an example of transculturation, by integrating elements of modernity in her life, without renouncing, however, to the traditional feminine ideals. Besides this binary composition, Papillon, in his fast and shallow participation at the novel, incarnates, in a subliminal manner, an aspect attributed by Zygmunt Bauman to the post-modernity, i.e., the fluidity of the social and affective bonds, characteristics from the ephemeral relationships.

La traducción del fenómeno de la transculturación narrativa en Los ríos profundos/ Deep Rivers de José María Arguedas / Translation of narrative transculturation in Los ríos profundos

Leonardo Pérez, Yazmin Mercedes, Ormeño Dall’Orso, Antoinette 20 July 2020 (has links)
Narrative transculturation is a phenomenon that entails creating new products due to the incorporation of cultural and linguistic elements to a dominant culture and their loss on the dominated one. These elements are expressed through language, literary structure and worldview. During the translation process, translators make different kind of decisions in order to create a target text that includes the same cultural equivalence that the original text already has. When a transcultural text is translated, specific procedures are needed to achieve the most accurate rewording of the source text on the final product which, at the same time, seeks for the understanding of the target audience. Therefore, the following research focuses on the analysis of the narrative transcultural translation phenomenon on Deep Rivers, written by José María Arguedas and translated by Frances Horning Barraclough. In addition, the aim of this investigation is to identify the transcultural elements in Los ríos profundos with the purpose of recognizing the translation techniques and analyze the use paratexts during the translation process. In this investigation, in order to identify and analyze transcultural elements in Los ríos profundos, content analysis technique will be use through the elaboration of the codification book. Furthermore, the contrastive textual analysis technique will be applied through index tabs to show fragments, lexemes and syntagmas of both the source and target text. As a result, the procedures that Frances Horning Barraclough used for the translation of the transcultural elements in Los ríos profundos will be presented. / Trabajo de investigación
