Geometrias da Experiência: das tessituras do conceito de Experiência e do conceito de Vivência em Walter Benjamin às investigações sobre o devir de uma nova categoria de experiência reticular possível em Narrativas Transmídia / Geometries of Experience: from the textures of \"Experience\" and \"lived experience\" concepts in Walter Benjamin to the investigations into the becoming of a new category of possible reticular experience in Transmedia Storytelling

João Pedro de Azevedo Machado Mota 10 October 2017 (has links)
This dissertation is a comparative theoretical-practical study that launches the hypothesis of another category of possible reticular experience in the contemporary field of transmedia storytelling, based on the theoretical axis of the concepts of \"Experience\" (Erfahrung) and \"lived experience\" (Erlebnis), initially formulated by the philosopher Walter Benjamin in a context marked by characteristic socioeconomic and political convulsions and transformations of the interwar period in the 20th century. In search of a methodological rigor that reflects an attempt to overcome a bias that is only reifying the transmedia storytelling, consciously understood as a cultural merchandise of neoliberal capitalism reproduced technically, in favor of a philosophical approach on the demand for its potentially collaborative character that would produce a type of experience-in-network, taken by us as a hypothesis, whose subtleties we propose to investigate, we try to situate the context in which the Benjaminian concepts were formulated, to justify its displacement to the analysis of the new context in which transmedia storytelling arises. With this framework we hope to understand how the transmedia storytelling would open a way to the understanding of a new experience hypothetically permeated by cyberspace, simultaneously related to the fragmented and individual aspect of Erlebnis, on the one hand, and relatively compatible to the character of a knowledge shared by the inherent collectivity of Erfahrung, on the other: not exclusively defined by those concepts, but understood dialectically as a third category of experience mediated by a collective intelligence that starts from the synthesis of both. We investigate the possibilities of understanding this experience as a result of dialogical transversalities between different niche audiences related to the different narrative fragments that, aesthetically singular, autonomous of sense and diegetically complementary to each other, being dispersed in multiple media in the form of different languages, taking into account the potentially collaborative character offered by contemporary digital networks to interaction, participation and symbolic exchanges: the virtual medium would therefore be fundamental to the formulation of the geometries of a shared reticular experience. Finally, by the procedure of qualitative-quantitative textual analysis on a corpus, with a dialogical potential between samples of 46 units of narrative fragments of the Matrix universe (of the Wachowski sisters), under the themes: a) Potential of diegetically transmedia relations between fragments; and b) Invitation for collaborative participation between niches; in the case study of this canon that emerged at the transition from 20th to the 21th century, we looked for clues to the confrontation of the new propositional category of hypothetical experience-in-network, overflowing in the practical development of a video as an inspiring tool for the analysis of other universes in transmedia storytelling already existing or yet to come. In order to broaden the understanding horizons of this media narrative phenomenon, the analysis of the research does not close on its own results, but opens up for new problematizations to the related fields.

Mariane Harumi Murakami 10 April 2015 (has links)
Brazilian television telenovela, since its origin in the 50\'s, has undergone countless changes, which not only have changed the form of fiction production, but mainly the experience of the viewer with the fictional product. This work proposes an investigation of these changes, rather a discourse analysis of the Brazilian serial fiction and the mechanisms that establish the discursive instances of the viewer and the author. Thus, this research has as objective to elaborate an investigation of the Brazilian television telenovelas, analyzing the changes occurring in the genre over the years, especially in moments of rupture - the era Gloria Madagan (50s), the realistic era (decade 60) and transmedia era (2000s). Some more specific objectives will guide the research: - to investigate the transformation of telenovela genre in Brazil, considering genre as a discourse articulated around the intercultural dimension involving texts and different contexts; - To investigate how the narrative agency the spectators; - To investigate the discursive mechanisms that relate the telenovela with the extra-diegetic reality; - To investigate the discursive construction of the viewer\'s identification mechanisms with the plot; - To investigate the construction of discursive mechanisms that relate the narratives in different medium; - To investigate the changes in the relations of media consumption over the years; - To investigate how the media convergence phenomenon affected the Brazilian telenovela as a genre. In this work, we postulate that the \"modernization\" of Brazilian telenovela not only transforms how to produce telenovelas, but mostly transforms the experience of the viewer with the fictional product. It goes initially from a fictional experience far from their daily reality, based on a fantasy world, to a fictional experience that seems more and more \"realistic\", in which the various elements of the plot point to everyday life. Today, in the era of onvergence era, the viewer does not leave the television narrative, but has the opportunity to pursue (or not) in other media content to enrich their fictional experience. And it establishes new actors in Brazilian television fictional discourse.

Arte transmídia na era digital / -

Martha Carrer Cruz Gabriel 28 September 2012 (has links)
This thesis reflects about a particular process: the transmedia and its potential to create new interactive and artistic possibilities that appropriate from the digital environments. The technological dissemination in people\'s daily lives in the past decades leverages a media proliferation and diversification that propitiate a fertile environment for the development of transmedia processes. Although transmedia is not a new phenomenon, the new possibilities that the actual digital environment provide -- hiper-connected and rich in new media and interfaces -- are countless, not only in the field of Arts, but also in any other areas related to communication, information and interaction. New interactive modes bring with themselves new possibilities as much as new challenges. The focus of this work is the emergent transmedia context and the opportunities and challenges that rise from its use. The scope here also involves the presentation and analysis of some artworks that take advantage from the use of transmedia as a fundamental process to their development, not being able to exist in any other scenario than the present one. It was developed by the author four artworks as transmedia experimentation that reflect the achieved results.

Gäst i Katas hus : En undersökning av fiktionens roll i museet / Guest in Kata´s house : An examination of the role of fiction in the museum

Erlandsson, Patrik January 2018 (has links)
This work is about fiction in the museum, and an approach towards transmedia storytelling with two different methods of mediation. With background in literature on cultural heritage, mediation in museums, mediation of history, fiction, transmedia storytelling and adaptation, visitors’ discussions about an exhibition and a fictional text was examined. In order to make the two methods of mediation converge, a number of themes from the existing exhibition were adapted and encapsulated in a fictional story. The visitors were primarily interested in a historical discussion in regards to the two methods of mediation. The message in both methods was considered to be historical, although different reasons as to why were expressed. The discussion about the fictional text emanated from a traditional view of historical fiction, i.e. was considered by the visitors to be provocative or compelling fictional prose that may guide a visitor to the exhibit. Somewhat contradictory to this expressed meaning, the visitors’ discussion about the fiction revealed a more suggestive and imaginative relationship with the subject matter, suggesting that fiction in the museum is a means to problematize meaning making in the museum, if they should promote experiences or build frameworks for learning in an authoritative method of mediation.

Transmedialt arbete med spel på svenska folkbibliotek : En enkätstudie / Transmedial work with games in Swedish public libraries : Asurvey study

Ysberg, Katrin, Ivares, Anna January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to attain an understanding of the adoption and development of games and transmedia storytelling in Swedish public libraries. We studied the extent, the purposes and the way in which Swedish public libraries have included games and transmedia storytelling into their collections and programs. In order to fulfill the aim of the study a survey study was conducted. The survey was distributed to one public library in every Swedish municipality. The empirical material was analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as the SCOT-model. Transmedia storytelling proved to be a difficult concept to study, therefore we focused mainly on its connection to gaming programs. The findings show that transmedial gaming programs are less common than regular gaming programs, and among these eight different types of programs were identified. Concerning the purposes for these different types of programs nine distinct categories were identified, which showed that the public libraries had diverse views regarding games and transmedial work with games in libraries. Through an analysis using the SCOT-model we reached the conclusion that the studied libraries’ adoption of games and transmedial work with games is in its early stages and that there are still problems to be solved before a consensus can be reached.

''This is the way'' : En kritisk diskursanalys om deltagande fans i en populärkulturell subreddit / ''This is the way'' : A critical discourse analysis of participating fans in a pop cultural subreddit.

Newton, Yosef January 2021 (has links)
Star Wars has since its initial release in 1977, become a pop cultural phenomenon. In the beginning of the franchise, it only consisted of films. Now, almost 40 years later the franchise has become a multimedia experience with many produced spin-offs over the years, such as The Mandalorian (2019). On social media platforms such as Reddit, fans of the universe can discuss intertextual references from the series together with other fans. This study aims to examine how these fans present their opinions regarding the intertextual references and the transmedia extension that is The Mandalorian (2019). Furthermore, it discusses how collective intelligence is built and how this injects meaning to a fan of the franchise. This study mainly consists of a theoretical frameworks popularized by Henry Jenkins, such as transmedia storytelling and participatory culture. Theories on identity, intertextuality and collective intelligence are also used. Critical discourse analysis is the main method of the study, more specifically, Anabela Carvalho’s CDA model for media texts. The results show that Reddit enables participation on different levels, with different types of content. It enables fans to create more value within transmedia fandoms by building on the collective intelligence in the community. The study also shows that fans of transmedia universes, are competent participants who value intertextuality and are like-minded.

Transmídia aplicada a produtos informacionais do design contemporâneo /

Altamirano, Otniel Josafat López January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: We belong to a culture of consumption and production, both products and information services that for decades have established greater ties with the technological and communication areas. This bond obliges us to study and understand the changes that have occurred between media ecology and contemporary design activities. The relation to the form and content in which information is researched, structured and later articulated under intelligent management, which puts design in a broader point in the face of revolutions of social transformation, specifically those that happen between individuals and new media technologies. This is why, through an exploratory methodology, the present research accomplished the unfolding of the elements and the tools that characterize transmedia as a contemporary language that executes interactive processes and environments through the feedback of the users who build, broadcast messages and create audiovisual content. In addition, we conducted case studies, bringing to analysis the profiles and design activities of three information content creators. From Mexico the blogger Alan Estrada with his community “Alan por el Mundo- AXM”; from Brazil the agency “Tátil Design”; and from Argentina the multimedia producer “DCM Team”. Aiming to study and understand what brings the convergence between transmedia and informational products of design, thus allowing the individual knows in a positive way the origin, understand the concept, the path and the processe...

Canalès, Audrey 03 1900 (has links)
Though there are theoretical frameworks in Translation Studies and in Adaptation Studies to problematize textuality in its broadest sense, thinking translation studies out of the prism of linguistic transfers between two cultures/two languages is challenging. When audiovisual matters are studied, publications focus on book-to-screen adaptations, or on the linguistic challenges of multimodality (Article 2). Some studies explore cities in translation, cities in performance, or translation as performance, but in Translation Studies, performance as translation remains understudied, though Cultural Studies, Sociology or Performance Studies have established that identity can be translated in clothes, in lighting, in colour, in food, among others (Article 1). This thesis’s transdisciplinary approach draws on concepts from Translation Studies, Sociology, Cultural Studies and Performance Studies. Combining them enables me to analyze understudied translation phenomena from a complex perspective. I study, among others, forms of re-writings that are generally not considered as translations, such as transmedial or performative narrative extensions of sometimes multiple texts with non-verbal elements, such as identities (Articles 1,3). This shows the presence and the importance of translational processes in cultural identity transmission across history (Articles 1,3). For the purposes of this research, I have observed a number of performances, sometimes as a participant, participated in immersive experiences, and conducted interdisciplinary reflexive dialogic interviews with artists, creators or with the family of the subject of a performance. My observations led me to provide the definition of performative translation as a set of intersemiotic multimodal processes of complex texts such as identities, not limited to verbal elements. The translation fabric of transmedial universes rarely has linear expansions; it oscillates between past and present, ideologies, using various narrative modes. I described these ever-growing narrative universes as infinite texts, evolving in constant disorder. This thesis by publications is composed of a General Introduction (written in French), in which I present the three articles (written in English), then explain my theoretical and methodological approaches. The first article explores the performative representations of political and artistic identities, with the examples of Canadian songstress Feist and « post-Mexican » artivist Guillermo Gómez Peña; it provides definitions of performative translation and infinite text. The second article calls for exploring transmedia storyverses from a translational point of view; it emphasizes the risk for Translation and Adaptation Studies to be invisibilized from ongoing academic conversations on new narrative modes if they do not. The third article adopts a complex Translation Studies point of view to analyze the narrative universe of the Baroness Pontalba, the New Orleans famous Creole builder (Article 3). These articles aim at showing the interest of studying diverse narrative forms from a translational point of view inspired by Complexity thinking.

Alices media-äventyr : En transmedial karaktärsanalys / Alice´s adventures in media : A transmedia character analysis

Seidel, Arvid, Samuelsson, Frida January 2023 (has links)
