Arrey Santander, Daniel, Mousa, Johan January 2013 (has links)
"Speak up! I can’t hear you" This qualitative study is built on an investigation of a newly instated model that is used when building or renovating schools. The principles of the model are based on building schools with an open plan design where the walls are made of glass and the classrooms are not shut closed by walls, instead the classrooms are completely open except from screens that are used to indicate the ambit of the rooms. This model has been well debated and that is the reason why we chose to do this study. The purpose of this study is to find out how students and teachers experience this model. To do this we have done interviews and observations. This study is based on the following questions: What are the pros and cons with this model according to pupils and teachers? How does the open environment affect the teachers’ way of working? What are the students’ thoughts on colours, noises and brightness in this environment? The conclusions of this study are that the main concern is the level of noise that according to the teachers have a negative impact on the students who have difficulties concentrating. The teachers mainly talked about the downsides of the model, while the students were more positive regarding the environment, although they did mention the downside of the level of noise. The students did appreciate the physical environment and referred to it as fresh and cosy.

Lilja, Birgitta January 2010 (has links)
This study titled School Model of Norrberga- a New Model of School. Some opinions that six pupils in the sixth grade have of their school is an explorative study. The purpose of this study is to some extent explain the ideas behind this quite spectacular model of school and the intentions of the City Council of Norrberga as they decided that all the schools that were to be renovated or built in the town of Norrberga had to follow a specific script.    As I first visited The Moonlight School I was puzzled. How do the teachers work it out? But, above all: Do the pupils work it out? What do they think about their school? When I was to write my final essay I wanted to try to sort this school out in more scientific terms.  There is a nice, warm atmosphere at the school and the pupils make good results. The school has an open architecture and there are seven classes with 60 pupils each and three teachers per class. Pupils and teachers work together in various work units in different areas of the school. In this newly built school with hardly any inside walls, or walls made of glass, the pupils in the sixth grade experience new ways of teaching. In order to find out how these pupils, having experienced both the old Moonlight School and the new model, looked upon their new school I wanted to perform individual interviews with some of them. I also visited the school a couple of days to observe the atmosphere and how they organised the day.  While analysing the collected material trying to describe the school I found support in the theories of Michel Foucault and John Dewey as well as scientific reports about school buildings and history of schooling. I selected those I found most significant for this study.  I found that the pupils mainly are satisfied with their school. Those having experienced all their schooling there do not have problem with the lack of not transparent walls nor with people and transports passing through the spacious educational area.  The community wanted to build smaller schools with more efficient use of the facilities. There is also an intention of developing new ways of teaching better adapted to current teaching methods and curriculum.

Planlösningsprioriteringar av prefabricerade tvåplanshus / Plan layout priorities of prefabricated two-storey houses

Falk, Jesper, Thulin, Jonathan January 2016 (has links)
Abstract Purpose: Important for house manufacturers is to keep track of specific customer preferences and priorities to have products that matches these. If a manufacturer does not have a product that fits the customer priorities, manufacturers will lose customers both before and during the process has started. The goal of the study is to report what house manufacturers should prioritize in the floor plan design of prefabricated two-storey houses. Method: The study has been conducted with a variety of methods. In order to study customer preferences and priorities a survey was made for potential house byers and interviews with house manufacturers sales agents. To get an overview about the changes that are most commonly performed, an analysis of documents on two of Götenehus house models was made. Findings: The results of the study show the kitchen's high priority among potential house buyers. Clearly shows that, above all, the social spaces in the form of kitchen living and dining room is generally very high priority among the general population In Stockholm. The study also shows that these rooms were desired with a relatively large surface area. It was also very unusual for these rooms to get reduced space. Unlike the social spaces, the private spaces hade ha wide range of demands. Above all, the bathroom and the master bedroom had highly prioritized. The other bedrooms were however generally one of house buy’ers lowest priority. In general, the service areas were shown to be the lowest prioritised rooms. The laundry room was desired to be large with great storage units, but were rarely executed as wanted. Implications: The social space, master bedroom and the bathroom has a great importance for customers in Stockholm County. House manufacturers should prioritize these rooms. In contrast, house manufacturers should not prioritize room as office and WC/D. Doing so, house manufacturers can offer customers a product that minimizes the impact on costs by changes. Limitations: The study deals only with prefabricated detached two-storey houses. The study does not include factors such as finance, property space or family constellations. The study was limited to the Stockholm County because of the concentrated market for two-storey house. The gathered information was not extracted prior ten years.

Minimera stress och psykisk ohälsa i kontorsmiljöer med hjälp av digitala verktyg : En litteraturstudie / Minimize stress and mental illness in office environment using digital tools : A literature study

Magrini Klövmark, Silvia January 2019 (has links)
Introduction: Workplaces are the most developed arena for disease prevention. Stress as a disease condition in the work environment has become more common. The idea of this study is to see if it is possible to prevent both stress and mental health at workplaces with the help of a technical invention, a health bracelet. Method: Systematic literature study, in which eleven scientific articles were used as the basis for the result. The articles were analyzed, processed and reviewed to achieve reliability in the result. Results: The results showed several methods and possibilities for identifying risk factors at an early stage in employees, using health bracelets or other technical equipment, thus preventing stress and mental illness. Discussion: The health bracelet can be a working method for future generations who are going to work and also for those who are already there. It´s an innovation that can be developed further.

A study on dwellings, dwellers and lifestyle in the early 21th century Sweden

Willén, Maja January 2012 (has links)
Since the beginning of the 21st century the open plan dwelling, i.e. open connections between reception areas and kitchen, has become an increasingly popular form of housing in Sweden. The aim of this thesis is to investigate narratives describing the life in open plan apartments, discussing (1) what they contain, (2) how they are constructed and distributed and (3) what social consequences they entail. These three questions have an immediate connection to the three levels of the critical discourse analysis formulated by Norman Fairclough where he analyses every instance of a discourse as simultaneously being text, discursive practice and social practice.  The study has been accomplished in the newly built area Hammarby sjöstad in Stockholm through interviews with builders, architects and people living in open plan apartments. Articles in interior magazines describing an open plan lifestyle has also been taken into consideration. Three themes is being discussed, the first describing the social qualities imagined to be naturally embedded in the open plan architecture. The second highlights the idea of cooking as both a way of living and as a factor contributing to the popularity of the open housing design, and the last focuses on the open plan home as a place for self performance.  At the text-level the material describes the impact of the open plan dwelling as a result of new interests, as dependent on new social habits and as a desire to put the home and the ongoing life on display. The ideas of what an open plan architecture actually can accomplish may, at a discoursive practice level, be given explanations from three main orders of discourse: the architectural, the market, and the good life order of discourse. The social practice level makes it obvious that the ideals concerning housing and lifestyle simultaneously reproduce old and create new social practices, taking into account cultural notions of gender relations, family life, social habits and questions of class.
