Vroue se belewenis van vaginale geboorte

Du Plessis, Diana Wilhelmina 12 February 2015 (has links)
M.Cur. / Women approach the experience of childbirth from their own frame of reference, expectations and the types of experiences which they encountered during their lifetime. Although much is done to prepare women for childbirth and motherhood, little information is obtained about the mother's experience of childbirth during the intra partum period, regardless of delivering naturally or with the administering of epidural anaesthesia. with this research it was endeavoured to gain more knowledge about the experiences of women during childbirth. The midwife can use this knowledge to have better insight in the needs of these women to ensure a better quality of patient care. A qualitative study was undertaken. The phenomenological method (the autobiographical method) was used, within the context of a private hospital on the West Rand. During March to April 1990 unstructured (non formative) interviews were conducted with 10 primigravidas that delivered vaginally. Five of the 10 women made use of epidural anaesthesia. A study of the literature was done to determine what the experts have already ascertained about this phenomenon. Themes were selected from the literature and the women's experiences were accordingly grouped. of this research, it appears that the who have delivered by means of epidural from those who delivered naturally. were identified where women had the same From the findings experiences of women anaesthesia, differ Universal experiences type of delivery. Recommendations were made on how the midwife can contribute to fulfil in the identified needs of the woman in labour.

An investigation into the non-disclosure of HIV status

Selebogo, Tryphina Matlholoe 15 July 2014 (has links)
A quantitative, explorative, descriptive research approach was used to investigate why HIV positive people have a problem with disclosing their status. The HIV infection spread is increasing globally, nationally and locally and disclosing would help reduce the spread of infection through preventive measures. Interviews were conducted with 106 respondents at Kagiso primary health care clinics in the West Rand Health Region. Reasons given by the respondents for non-disclosure of the HIV status were: discrimination, stigma to the HIV positive person and the family by the community, isolation and rejection by the family members, discrimination and possible dismissal at the workplace, fear of losing a partner. The findings illustrate that a large percentage of the population know about HIV and its spread and know that by disclosing, one can get support from health resources and family, but people will not make their status public unless stigmatisation is addressed / Health Studies

The perceptions of nurses regarding communication with nurse managers in a public hospital in westrand in Gauteng Province

Mananiso, Nyaku Elizabeth 01 1900 (has links)
The aim of the study was to explore the perceptions of nurses regarding communication with nurse managers in the workplace. The design of the study was a generic qualitative. The methodology of choice was qualitative, explorative method. The sample was non-probability and the approach or technique used was purposive sampling method. It comprised of thirty nurses, ten of each category. The category was a component of professional nurses, enrolled nurses and enrolled nursing auxiliary nurses. The data collection method used in the study was in-depth interviews using a self-designed interview guide. Face to face interviews was conducted in a quiet room within the hospital ward as a natural setting. Data was collected using a voice recorder for the sake of protecting the missing of information which may be important. The data analysis was with the help of employing transcribing and coding of voice recorded data and observation noted during the collection of data. Boundary constructions for CR manifolds and Fefferman spaces

Fehlinger, Luise 25 August 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to discuss the Cartan boundaries of CR manifolds and their Fefferman spaces. The Fefferman space of a strictly pseudo-convex CR manifold is defined as the bundle of all real rays in the canonical complex line bundle. Another way of defining the Fefferman space of a CR manifold uses the tools of Cartan geometry and leads to a strong relationship between the Cartan geometries of a CR manifold and the corresponding Fefferman space. However here the existence of a certain root of the anticanonical complex line bundle is requested which can solely be guarantied locally. As we are interested in boundaries we need a global construction of the Fefferman space. Still we find that local results on the Fefferman space can be transferred from one construction to the other since we have conformal coverings of both. The Cartan boundary of a manifold is constructed with the help of the corresponding Cartan geometry, which defines a global frame and hence a Riemannian metric on the Cartan bundle which can be completed by Cauchy completion. Division by the structure group gives the Cartan boundary of the manifold. The Cartan boundary is a generalization of the Cauchy boundary since both coincide in the Riemannian case. In general the Cartan boundary is not necessarily Hausdorff, which is not really surprising since boundary phenomena are somehow ``singular''''. For CR manifolds and their Fefferman spaces we especially prove that the projection of the Cartan boundary of the Fefferman space contains the Cartan boundary of the CR manifold. We finally discuss the Heisenberg group, one of the basic examples of CR manifolds. It is flat but - contrary to the homogeneous space - not compact. We find that the Cartan boundary of the Heisenberg group is a single point and the Cartan boundary of the corresponding Fefferman space is a non degenerate fibre over that point.

To inhabit in spite of the language : language policies and territorialities within the Flemish periphery of Brussels-Capital.

Bonfiglioli, Clotilde 06 December 2017 (has links)
The establishment of linguistic borders in Belgium has in no way limited the internationalization and francization of the Flemish Brussels-Capital’s periphery. An influx of a national French-speaking population, coming from the Belgian capital, causes a feeling of minorization among the Dutch-speaking population living in this periphery. Since the early 1990s, municipal and regional authorities have been implementing language policies, which are supposed to preserve the Flemish culture of the nineteen neighbouring municipalities of Brussels-Capital. A full-fledged territorial apparatus, officially called the "Vlaamse Rand" (literally the "Flemish periphery"), analysed in this thesis, aims to "discipline" the allophones’ language use within public spaces. How do the Francophone inhabitants of Brussels-Capital’s periphery settle in their territory of residence, linguistically and politically organized by the Flemish authorities ?This thesis focuses on a psycho-sociological study of space, combining the approaches of Sociolinguistics and Cultural Psychology with those of Human Geography. It examines the impact of both formal and informal language strategies on everyday geographic mobilities and territorialities of Francophone people living in Brussels-Capital’s periphery. The results from online questionnaires, participant observations and, above all, qualitative interviews contribute to the formulation of an analytical framework which enables to evaluate, at different spatial scales, the influence of the use of languages on territorial behaviours as well as on perceptions of the territory of residence.

Knäkomponenters inverkan på livskvalité : En studie på individer med transfemoral amputation / The impact of knee components on quality of life : A study of individuals with a transfemoral amputation

Karlsson, Ellinor, Medlöw, Ellen January 2017 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate if there is a difference in qualityof  life  (QoL)  between  individuals  with  a  transfemoral  amputation  usingmicroprocessor-controlled  knee  components  (MPK)  versus  mechanical  kneecomponents (Mech.). Design: Cross-sectional study Subjects: 14 prosthesis users with a unilateral transfemoral amputation  (10 men, 4women; 4 Mech., 10 MPK), amputated due to trauma, congenital reasons, infection ortumor and used the same prosthetic knee for at least one year. Method: To study QoL in the  population concerned a questionnaire was carriedout, including the RAND-36 and supplementary questions. The  participants  were divided into two groups with regard to the knee component to enable the results to be analyzed. Results: No significant difference in QoL were found between the groups. The largest differences were observed in physical (Mech.: 0 MPK: 50) and emotional (Mech.: 41.75MPK: 100) role function. Conclusion: The result of the study showed no significant difference in QoL between the groups. Furthermore, specific measuring instruments targeting individuals with amputation should be used to investigate quality of life in the population concerned.

Assessing the potential risk of failing to maintain water supply in the Rand Water area / Londani Phillip Lithole

Lithole, Londani Phillip January 2015 (has links)
The research study focused on assessing the potential risk of failing to maintain water supply in the Rand Water area. The study analysed all factors and areas that contributes to water supply in the Rand Water area; this included municipalities supplied by Rand Water, the Department of Water Affairs and other factors that directly affect Rand Water supply such as population growth, increased urbanisation and acid mine drainage. The objectives of the study were: (a) is to determine the potential risk of failing to maintain supply in the Rand Water supply area, in other words, the likeliness of water not being supplied adequately to customers. (b) generate timely and credible information to determine the understanding, awareness, and acknowledgement by the sampled management group of the existence of the potential water supply risk in the Rand Water supply area. This will be done through a quantitative study. The research study approach that was utilized was a quantitative methodology; this approach included the distribution of questionnaires to all relevant stakeholders in the Rand Water supply area. To address the problems that are highlighted in the problem statement and achieve the objectives of the study these answered questionnaires were then sent to a Statistical consultant at North-West University‟s Potchefstroom Campus, to be analysed using an SPSS Version 21 statistical program. The questionnaires were divided into the three big municipal customers, these municipalities combined takes a total of 74.35% of Rand Water supply; these are Johannesburg Water which is part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and other small municipalities and the Department of Water Affairs‟ officials. Many previous studies also were assessed to be able to help this study establish the seriousness of the water challenge, the amount of work that has already been done, factors contributing to the problem and finally, measures that can be put in place to address the problem. The results that were obtained for this study provided many relationships between this study‟s selected variables and also highlighted the need to put certain strategies in place to be able to control the growing demand for water in the Rand Water system. The name of the Department of Water Affairs has changed many times over the year. It used to be called DWAF (Department of Water Affairs and Forestry, then DWEA (Department of Water and Environmental Affairs, then DWA (Department of Water Affairs) and it has recently been changed to DWS (Department of Water and Sanitation. For the purposes of this study this department will be called DWA (The Department of Water Affairs) The results were very relevant as most of the relationships were found between variables that are practically supposed to be related in order for the problem to be dealt with fruitfully. From these results it could be concluded that the risk of failing to maintain water supply in the Rand Water supply area does exist, if certain factors were allowed to trend the way they‟ve been trending without measures in place to counteract them. It could also be concluded that certain measures have been initiated to deal with the problem; this included water demand management. Results indicated that collective efforts from all stakeholders in the Rand Water supply area will be crucial in addressing the water supply challenge and avoid future failure to supply. To close the gap between previous research studies and this research study recommendations were made. Areas of future research were also highlighted; these are areas that can add value in providing valued information to help the challenge of water shortage in the Rand Water supply area. This area of future research studies will also be crucial in identifying other external factors that were not highlighted in the study but contribute to the problem. This area of future research studies will also help when implementing turnaround strategies to avoid the risk of failing to maintain supply in the Rand Water area as it will be able to highlight a different strategy that deals with the problem holistically. / MBA, North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015
