Robo-advisors : Factors influencing swedish consumers intention to use. UTAUT2 with perceived risk and trust.

Stenberg, Alexander January 2020 (has links)
In times when traditional saving accounts are no longer attractive due to the current interest rates, robo-advisors appears to be an alternative investment utility. Robo-advisor has made investment advisory services available to the general public by offering automated system to allocate assets that is tailored to each individual’s investment needs and risk profile. The successful implementation of robo-advisors depends heavily on the extent of how much customers are fully motivated to use these services. The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect Swedish consumers intention to use robo-advisors using UTAUT (unified theory of acceptance and use 2) with the extended factors perceived risk and trust. The results indicate that performance expectancy, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation and perceived risk influence how Swedish consumers formulate their behavioral intention to use robo-advisors.

Involving Patient/Family Advisors and Advisory Councils with Patient and Family Engagement

Forward, Cortney D 01 January 2019 (has links)
Health care consumers are under-represented in literature when defining patient and family engagement. The proportion of people living longer is rapidly growing. Future research is needed to evaluate which strategies of patient and family engagement are most useful in real-world health care settings for patient and families. The purpose of this study was to describe the lived experiences of patient/family advisors working within patient family advisory councils at an academic medical center in the Midwestern United States. The conceptual framework is based on Greenleaf's servant leadership and Bass's transformational leadership. The research questions examined how patient/family advisors describe patient and family engagement, their experiences from the advisor program, and what is most meaningful to them. A phenomenological design was employed with a purposeful sample of 19 interview respondents drawn from 5 different advisory councils. Data analysis consisted of interpretive phenomenological analysis and a detailed, in-depth account of participant experiences. Transcripts from semi structured face-to-face interviews were collected, coded, validated by member checking, and triangulated with emergent themes. Emergent themes included patient/family advisors' descriptions of patient and family engagement within the patient family advisory councils and organizational efforts most meaningful to patient/family advisors. The results of this study may help create social change by improving the standards and quality of patient and family engagement by preparing health care professionals to better meet the needs of health care consumers.

GRADUATE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS AND RESPONSES TO BULLYING FROM ACADEMIC ADVISORS

Theodora L Amuah (11205984) 30 July 2021 (has links)

Workplace bullying is a major global issue which has received a lot of recognition because of its negative effects on victims’ health and work productivity. There have been many attempts to mitigate the effects of workplace bullying, leading researchers to extensively study the phenomenon in various contexts and relationships. Information on workplace bullying in the academic context, precisely relationships between academic advisors and graduate student advisees, is however, lacking. This study aimed at filling in the gap by seeking information about communicative behaviors from advisors that graduate advisees characterized as bullying, and common responses graduate advisees resorted to in the face of adversity. We also sought to understand why advisees may have responded to maltreatment in specific ways. We, therefore, proposed a working model which hypothesized a relationship between advisor negative acts, commitment levels of advisees, and advisee responses. Using Amazon’s Mechanical (MTurk) to recruit our sample, participants filled out a survey which included a few demographic questions, the revised version of the Negative Acts Questionnaire (NAQ-R) to measure advisor negative acts, the Exit-Voice-Loyalty-Neglect (EVLN) typology to measure advisee responses, and the Investment Model Scale (IMS) to measure advisee commitment levels to the work relationship with advisors. We verified the reliability and validity of the scales adopted for this study and ran some correlation and mediation analyses to answer our research questions and test our hypotheses. From our findings, we learned that most advisees reported personal insults occurring more frequently in their work relationships with advisors. Advisees also reported a high commitment to the work relationships with their advisors, despite maltreatment, and often responded by adopting the voice or neglect strategy. Findings from this exploratory study imply there is more information to be sought on workplace bullying between advisees and advisors in academic contexts.

Understanding the Implications of Sustainability Inclusion : A Case Study of the Role of the Financial Advisor and Sustainability / Att förstå konsekvenserna av hållbarhetsinkludering : En fallstudie av den finansiella rådgivarrollen och hållbarhet

Larsson, Rebecca, Månsson, Linnea January 2021 (has links)
The role of the financial advisor is subject to fiduciary duty, which means that the advisor always should act in the best interest of the client and has traditionally referred to the financial aspects. Finance is now experiencing a revolution, where the concept of sustainable finance is on the agenda of many actors when the sustainability amendments to MiFID II entered into force, as part of the EU Action Plan on Sustainable Finance. The new regulations will add to the already intensified information load characterizing the financial advisory landscape. Moreover, this new dimension of sustainability is very different from the strictly financial one, which in itself is subject to both conceptually and operational complexity. This study aims to investigate what difficulties and complexities are arising from the growing amount of sustainability demands and information and how these affect the financial advisor and its role. This was done as a qualitative case study where nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with financial advisors working in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, together with two interviews with employees working with sustainability at a central level in a Nordic bank. The analysis is based on the interviews combined with current literature and together lays the foundation for the findings. The key findings of the study are that there are five identified difficulties stemming from different areas that are seen as important for understanding what the inclusion of sustainability preferences into financial advisory might mean going forward, and what effects that it will have on the financial advisor: (i) regulatory changes and compliance, (ii) sustainability preferences, (iii) the information-intensive landscape, (iv) advisors’ required awareness and knowledge, and (v) the perceived advisor’s role. When adding these identified difficulties together, the conclusion is that the concept of sustainable finance is not as uncomplicated as perhaps portrayed, and this holds extra true for the studied inclusion of sustainability in the advisory process.

An Investigation of the Differences between Continuing and Non-Continuing Undergraduate Special Admission Students Related To Academic Advising Factors

Reeves, Kevin P 01 January 2014 (has links)
This study examined some differences between continuing and non-continuing special admission students in areas of academic advising in ways that are more systematic and thorough than past research. The premise of the study is that having a clearer understanding of how academic advising affects retention might provide colleges and universities with information to optimize the collegiate experience for special admission students. Therefore, research on the effect academic advising has on special admission student retention might offer insight into how the interactions between student and advisor affect retention issues. A non-experimental descriptive research design was employed to investigate the differences between the independent variables (advising style, frequency of contact, gender match, and race or ethnicity match) and the dependent variable, student retention. There were three sources of data used in this study. First, data were collected from students through the use of the Academic Advising Inventory (AAI) and External Factors of Retention Survey (EFRS) using online survey software. Second, data were collected from existing databases provided by an urban higher education institution. Finally, brief phone surveys were conducted with non-continuing students. Due to low survey response, no statistical analysis for significance was reported in this study. However, patterns observed from the AAI/EFRS and the phone surveys provided the following results. First, continuing special admission students had more advisor contact than non-continuing students. Second, despite continuing students’ higher average scores on the Developmental-Prescriptive Advising Scale (measure for advising style) of the AAI, the higher perceived advising style scores did not suggest a higher frequency of student-advisor contact in the first semester. Third, perceived advising style may have influenced frequency of student-advisor contact among non-continuing students. Fourth, continuing students had a decrease in frequency of student-advisor contact in consecutive semesters. Fifth, the perception of students that their race or ethnicity are respected by their advisor may matter more than a race or ethnicity match. Sixth, gender match was not related to frequency of student-advisor contact for continuing students. Seventh, clearly stating the objectives of a research study and how participation serves the objectives may aid in the recruitment of difficult to reach populations. Eighth, institutional efforts to reach out to these students could influence the students’ decision to continue enrollment.

Um modelo computacional de combinação social aplicado ao processo de planejamento de orientadores em ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem / A computational model of social combination applied to the advisor planning process in distance learning environments

Feitosa, Douglas de Lima 28 February 2011 (has links)
Distance Education (DE) is a teaching modality capable of providing professional formation for people with limited access to university education. For this end, a set of computational tools is required in assisting the teaching and learning process (PEREIRA et al., 2006a). Moreover, some common obstacles for DE are the issues of identifying possible advisors for those students in the process of writing monographs and work overload. This has become an important issue for researches, placing their emphasis on the idea of working the interests of students, teachers and education managers. For such, this work used a quali-quantitative approach, in a way that data were collected in a Distance Learning Environment (DLE) and also by the application of a structured questionnaire to potential advisors. As such, this work has the objective of proposing a Computational Model of Social Combination that helps the DE Manager in the process of advisors planning for monograph works. This paper presents three computational tools developed by using genetic algorithms. These tools were applied according to the context of the DE undergraduate course of Information Systems offered by the Federal University of Alagoas and the Open University of Brazil. The results show that the proposed computational model can be used to help DE Managers to reduce the cases of students’ and advisors’ profiles incompatibility, as well as to reduce docent work overload.
