The planning of the Manaus Free Zone constituted an important vector of the regionalization process, use and reorganization of the Brazilian territory. Although tax incentives have a central role in attracting investment to the Manaus Free Zone, once far from the big Brazilian consumer market (located in the South-central region of the country) the contribution of modern logistics emerges as an essential element for the viability of this plan. Thus, in this research we intend to discuss the role of the Manaus Free Zone (especially the Industrial Pole of Manaus) and of the modern logistics in the use and reorganization of the Brazilian territory, focusing on the creation process of rationality and fluidity (territorial competitiveness) that enables a vigorous corporate use of the Brazilian territory today / Doutorado / Análise Ambiental e Dinâmica Territorial / Doutor em Geografia

Linearizing E- Class Power Amplifier by Using Memoryless Pre-Distortion

Tunir Dey (5931197) 16 January 2020 (has links)
<div>Radio Frequency Power Amplifiers (PA) are essential components of wireless systems and nonlinear in a permanent way. So, high efficiency and linearity at a time are imperative for power amplifiers. However, it is hard to obtain because high efficiency Power Amplifiers are nonlinear and linear Power Amplifiers have poor efficiency. To meet both linearity and efficiency, the linearization techniques such as Digital Predistortion (DPD) has arrested the most attention in industrial and academic sectors due to provide a compromising data between efficiency and linearity. This thesis proposed on digital predistortion techniques to control nonlinear distortion in radio frequency transmitters. </div><div>By using predistortion technique, both linearity and efficiency can obtain. In this thesis a new generic Saleh model for use in memoryless nonlinear power amplifier (PA) behavioral modelling is used. The results are obtained by simulations through MATLAB and experiments. We explore the baseband 13.56 MHz Power Amplifier input and output relationships and reveal that they apparent differently when the Power Amplifier shows long-term, short-term or memory less effects. We derive a SIMULINK based static DPD design depend on a memory polynomial. A polynomial improves both the non-linearity and memory effects in the Power Amplifier. As PA characteristics differs from time to time and operating conditions, we developed a model to calculate the effectiveness of DPD. We extended our static DPD design model into an adaptive DPD test bench using Indirect Learning Architecture (ILA) to implement adaptive DPD which composed of DPD subsystem and DPD coefficient calculation. By this technique, the output of PA achieves linear, amplitude and phase distortions are eliminated, and spectral regrowth is prevented. </div><div>The advanced linearity performance executed through the strategies and methods evolved on this thesis can allow a higher usage of the capability overall performance of existing and emerging exceptionally performance PAs, and therefore an anticipated to have an effect in future wireless communication systems. </div>

The lost gallery : John Garstang and Turkey : a postcolonial reading

Rutland, Francoise January 2014 (has links)
This research aims to evaluate the construction of Turkey and the “Oriental other” in Colonial Britain at the turn of the 20th century through a post-colonial theoretical perspective presented through the analysis of various data regarding the 'Aegean & Hittite Collections' gallery at the Public Museum Liverpool (now World Museum) from 1931 till the Blitz of June 1941. The sources include undocumented archives such as field notes, postcards and correspondence and what remains of the 'Garstang Hittite Collection' held at National Museums Liverpool (NML). A full investigation into how the collection was put together through curatorial and archaeological methods, what it consisted of, why these specific objects were chosen and what value were attributed by the collector and curators of the time along with gallery pals and visitors’’ guide book will allow for valid reconstruction and re-interpretation of the “Aegean & Hittite Gallery”. Furthermore I shall also explore the value of displaying a substantial collection of Hittite casts at a time when such objects were tools for Classical and Neo-Classical artistic education, understood by contemporary British society to be the pinnacle of artistic achievement. This Neo-Hittite imagery had no artistic value attributed to it and was displayed in a context of educational value for the lower social classes who could not perceive the ‘high’ arts involved in Classical Greek culture that had been adopted by aristocratic Britain as the paradigm for its own colonial identity; popularly reinforced nationally through various media, including exhibitions such as this, and also internationally through neo-Classical architectural design e.g. The Liverpool Acropolis. My thesis also relates the above premises with the life and work of Prof. John Garstang, his role within the Institute of Archaeology in Liverpool, his contribution to the “Aegean & Hittite Collections' gallery, his role as archaeological agent for private collectors, his work ethics and methodologies and his later role as establisher of British archaeological institutes in Jerusalem, Amman and Ankara. Academic reception of Hittite archaeology in Britain and the newly-formed nation-state of Turkey following the abolition of Ottoman rule in 1923 will also be considered especially regarding Garstang’s standing as a British archaeologist contributing to the Kemâlist Turkish capital city of Ankara in 1947. This research will place the Hittite Gallery’s contents and displays within their archaeological, cultural and intellectual contexts but also aims to explore the political use of contemporaneous Hittite archaeological negotiation both in Britain and Turkey at such a tumultuous time bound together through the work of Prof. John Garstang.

Omkonstruktion av vapenfäste till additiv tillverkning / Reconstruction to additive manufacturing

Karlsen, Joakim January 2019 (has links)
The thesis project has been carried out in collaboration with Saab training and simulation in Huskvarna, which manufactures military training products. The aim of the project was to investigate the possibility of using additive manufacturing as the method for future manufacturing for the small arms transmitter bracket (SAT-bracket, a bracket for gun) to reduce lead time, cost and weight. A physical product has been developed through the Selective Laser Melting technique (SLM), where the least possible amount of support structures has been achieved for the selected build orientation. To be able to optimize the design with the help of lattice structures, knowledge of the technology has been acquired through information searched on scientific texts and websites. Identification of strengths and weaknesses in the development process and the possibility of using a more favorable material for the application were documented to be evaluated against a traditionally manufactured component. The final designs have been modeled using two different design methods, both in which had reduced the weight between 28-44% where the stiffness is in the likes of the reference product. The conclusion drawn from the work is that additive manufacturing is a manufacturing method   that for the SAT-bracket is a favorable alternative for smaller production volume.

Powder bed additive manufacturing using waste products from LKAB's pelletization process : A pre-study / Användning av restprodukter från LKABs pelletiseringsprocess vid additiv tillverkning med pulverbädd : En förstudie

Brandemyr, Gabriella January 2019 (has links)
This report is the result of a bachelor thesis project executed at Luleå University of Technology(LTU). The purpose of the project was to investigate the possibility to use the metal powder wasteproducts from LKAB’s pelletizing process for additive manufacturing as this would meaneconomic benefits for the sake of LKAB as well as environmental benefits. Two different powders were used in the experiments and were referred to as crush and dust. Theexperiments were made through the selective laser melting (SLM) method with varying laserparameters to observe their effect. These included the laser power and laser speed. Scanningelectron microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and opticalmicroscopy were used for the analysis of the samples. The analysis of the chemical compositions showed that the powders were inhomogeneous anddiffered from each other. The crush powder contained phosphor and carbon which was lacking inthe dust and also had higher amounts of silicon and potassium. In spite of the inhomogeneouspowder and getting some agglomerations of half-melted grains on the tracks, the tracks tended tobe mostly homogenous. It was also observed that the tracks have a higher amount of carboncompared to the powder which probably derives from the substrate plate. The adherence of the tracks was greatest at a laser power between 200-300 W and a laser scanningspeed 0.5-1.75 m/min.The metal powder waste products from LKAB’s pelletization process could likely be used inadditive manufacturing, however, more work is needed in order to ensure the obtained results andcontinue with further experiments.

After the Napoleonic Wars, Spain and Portugal were reinserted into the international system as peripheral forces in European policy. Without the same diplomatic density of previous times it was up to Portuguese diplomacy to build arrangements that were able to offer some role of participation in the reorganization of the European order. From the study of diplomatic correspondence between the two courts and their diplomats it was possible to realize that while Spain directed its efforts to strength Bourbon legitimacy in the Italian territories, the Portuguese diplomacy was concentrated on the restitution of the territory of Olivenza, taken by the Spaniards in the war of 1801. For different reasons and agendas, now structured, however improvised, the issues concerning South America, especially the Missoes Orientais do Urugua and the Banda Oriental as a whole have entered transversely the agendas of Vienna.

Challenging the taken-for-granted in the management of underwater cultural heritage : ethical and legal perspectives

Perez-Alvaro, Elena January 2015 (has links)
Management of cultural heritage depends on ethical decisions. These ethical decisions will bestow the heritage with a value and will protect it by establishing legal frameworks. However, sometimes, these legal frameworks can have the opposite effect and damage the heritage if they are not continuously revised and updated according to the new ethical challenges of the development in the field of cultural heritage. Although underwater cultural heritage has a legislative element that protects it from the relatively minor threat of treasure hunters, it pays little attention to ethical concerns that expose the heritage to more serious menaces. This study proposes (contrary to the traditional view of land heritage management as an example to underwater heritage management) a new vision where underwater cultural heritage challenges principles that in land heritage management have been taken for granted: valuation, use, management and preservation. The work presents four case studies as models both for illustrating the key ethical issues and for offering solutions: the violin of the Titanic, ancient lead for particle physics experiments, watery graves and the effects of climate change on underwater cultural heritage. Finally this work explores themes of value, ethics and the process in which a common object becomes heritage.

The goal of this research consists of analyzing the integration process of South America and its investments in growth and integration in MERCOSUL, through a bibliographical survey and a qualitative approach. Nevertheless, it can be observed that the mechanisms to further this integation are not enough to promote a coordinated structural as well as economic and social cohesion since the development process of integration is driven by works from IIRSA Plan, a shortage of capital programs and by state interests to the detriment of the collectives. It can currently be observed that the recovery of MERCOSUL with the approach and investment in cohesion funds such as FOCEM, notwithstanding new revitalization initiatives of the IIRSA works by UNASUL, with BNDES being a primary financier. However, the structural funds have deficiencies such as a lack of resources, lack of political-institutional convergence in the intrablock commerce, with ineffective management and protectionist measures. Aggravated by a South American intergraton process which proposes utopian goals for the creation of a common market, without regard to the establishing of basic structural conditions. Therefore, it is suggested that there be larger financial investments, improvements in the political-institutional articulation, and reduction of rivalries. These soluions will promote the correct management of resources, besides the necessity of new studies that demonstrate the potential of the region and provide solutions that promote equity of the Member-Nations through the reduction of regional assymetries.
