School resources effect on student achievements

Wetterdahl, Olle, Hansen, Oscar January 2022 (has links)
This paper examines how the resources within schools are affecting the students' achievement, and if there is a differential in the effect depending on students’ parents’ educational level. Would increased school resources in the form of reduced class sizes result in higher achievements for the students? To estimate the effect of school resources on students' achievement we use linear regression with fixed effects. This study finds a statistically significant positive relationship between class size and student achievement. In the study, we can draw some different conclusions, mainly that the resources put in school affect the students' achievements differently depending on parents’ educational level.

Mokinių pasiekimų ir pažangos vertinimo pradinėse klasėse kaitos tendencijos / Shift tendencies of pupils’ achievements and progress evaluation in lower school

Vaškelienė, Lina 29 June 2009 (has links)
A lot of innovations are introduced in the evaluation of pupils’ achievements and progress. After the changes, inadequacies between the attempts and desirable results are often noticeable. Our goal was to analyze shift tendencies of the pupils’ achievements and progress evaluation in lower school. The objectives: to reveal the conception of pupils’ achievements and progress evaluation and its main concepts, to analyze the problem of pupils’ achievements and progress evaluation in lower school in scholarly literature, to determine the tendencies of evaluation shift, positive and negative elements of pupils’ achievements and progress evaluation shift. We have analyzed educational documents, scholars’ research work and teachers-practitioners’ articles as well as recommendations during the course of Education reform, from 1990 up to the end of 2008. In the beginning of the Education reform, researches were actively interested in and analyzed the topic of pupils’ achievements and progress, but in the third stage of the Education reform they digressed from the analysis of this problem. We have also completed a quantitative and qualitative research wishing to determine how teacher’s attitude changes towards pupils’ progress and achievements evaluation during the lesson in the change of educational paradigm. The results of the research demonstrated that in default of established and research-checked united evaluation system of lower school pupils’ achievements and progress... [to full text]

Shen, Te-ju 29 May 2008 (has links)
This study, based on the subject from the fifth and sixth graders of elementary schools in Kaohsiung County and District, conducts the ¡§Correlations of Cognitive Style (CS), Self-Concept (SC) and Mathematics Achievements (MA)¡¨. The purpose of this study is: 1. To understand the state of play of the CS, SC and MA of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools. 2. To analyze the effect of the different background variables of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools to the CS, SC and MA. 3. To research the correlation of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools among the CS, SC and MA. 4. To analyze the predictable situations of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools among CS, SC and MA. 5. To advance specific suggestions based on the research conclusion, in order to give the references for the teachers in the aspects of teaching, consulting and further study. This study adopted the questionnaire approach. The subjects were the fifth and sixth graders from Kaohsiung County and District. A total of 611 received questionnaires from the 640 questionnaires (received rate was 95.46%), canceled the null 9 ones, thus, we get the available 602 questionnaires. After the statistics of descriptive statistics, Independent-Samples T Test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, stepwise multiple regression, we concluded that: 1. The CS of the kids from high social-economic status family tended to be the analyzed model. 2. The MA of the kids from high and media social-economic status family was higher than those from low social-economic family. 3. The SC and MA of the kids with Field Independence convergent contemplative and verbal CS had significant difference. 4. The CS, SC and MA of fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools revealed media and low positively correlation. 5. The correlation between CS and MA of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools was stronger than the correlation between SC and MA of the fifth and sixth graders in elementary schools. 6. The CS and SC can predict efficiently the MA of fifth and sixth graders, especially the SC with convergent. Based on the research conclusion, this study provide the following implications: 1. For the teachers: A. During the period of mathematics solving, the teachers should lead the students to develop the CS of convergent. B. To advert the kids¡¦ biological development of SC, consult timely and to reinforce them. C. To understand completely the CS of the kids, and provide the most institutionalized teaching and consulting approaches. D. To advert the individual difference of the kids, and to develop positive SC through the concrete feedbacks and suitable reinforcements. E. To reinforce the parents education 2. For the further study: A. Aspects of the research subjects: This research is based on the matrix of the fifth and sixth graders of elementary schools in Kaohsiung County and District. If we can expand the subjects to those kids in other county and district, we probably understand more about the situations and features of CS and SC for the kids in elementary schools. Furthermore, we can discuss the influences of the both to MA. B. Aspects of variables: There are many factors that affect MA, including the teachers¡¦ cognitive teaching strategies, the students¡¦ solving strategies, mathematics learning attitudes¡Ketc. We can incorporate these factors into research scope or conduct other correlation variables study, thus, we may understand different relationships among CS, Sc and MA. C. Aspects of the research methods: The further research may adopt other approaches, for examples, the Cognitive Styles Analysis (CSA), Q-sorts or Q-technique, Self-Performance, or other instruments, thus, we may enhance our understandings of CS and SC. If we can apply other instruments based on the qualitative study, interview and gather information about the school¡¦s environment, we would understand more about the correlations among CS, SC and academic achievements.

IKT įtaka pradinių klasių mokinių gimtosios kalbos pasiekimams / ICT influence elementary school birth language achievement

Dermontienė, Gražina 11 July 2011 (has links)
Modern society becoming informational or knowledge seeking society, knowledge gets more and more important part in our lives. Informational society – it’s society that is open for innovation, educated and eager to improve, always learning society. Spread of informational technologies is becoming more important part in education process. We can notice that schools are getting more and more ICT devices, so we can state that these changes are opening wide opportunities for educational progress. The strategy of installing ICT in Lithuanians education is to combine informational culture progress and general education progress, that should motivate innovative form of learning. Elementary school student before coming to school usually already has basic set of technical skills, so using of ICT in elementary school is inevitable. It’s relevant to our subject that ICT should be used in birth language classes in elementary school. Using ICT in classes helps students to get basic knowledge of Lithuanian language, creates technical skills and upgrades results of learning. That led us to this research.

Cooperative data muling using a team of unmanned aerial vehicles

Tuyishimire, Emmanuel January 2019 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have recently o ered signi cant technological achievements. The advancement in related applications predicts an extended need for automated data muling by UAVs, to explore high risk places, ensure e ciency and reduce the cost of various products and services. Due to advances in technology, the actual UAVs are not as expensive as they once were. On the other hand, they are limited in their ight time especially if they have to use fuel. As a result, it has recently been proposed that they could be assisted by the ground static sensors which provide information of their surroundings. Then, the UAVs need only to provide actions depending on information received from the ground sensors. In addition, UAVs need to cooperate among themselves and work together with organised ground sensors to achieve an optimal coverage. The system to handle the cooperation of UAVs, together with the ground sensors, is still an interesting research topic which would bene t both rural and urban areas. In this thesis, an e cient ground sensor network for optimal UAVs coverage is rst proposed. This is done using a clustering scheme wherein, each cluster member transmits its sensor readings to its cluster head. A more e cient routing scheme for delivering readings to cluster head(s) for collection by UAVs is also proposed. Furthermore, airborne sensor deployment models are provided for e cient data collection from a unique sensor/target. The model proposed for this consists of a scheduling technique which manages the visitation of UAVs to target. Lastly, issues relating to the interplay between both types of sensor (airborne and ground/underground) networks are addressed by proposing the optimal UAVs task allocation models; which take caters for both the ground networking and aerial deployment. Existing network and tra c engineering techniques were adopted in order to handle the internetworking of the ground sensors. UAVs deployment is addressed by adopting Operational Research techniques including dynamic assignment and scheduling models. The proposed models were validated by simulations, experiments and in some cases, formal methods used to formalise and prove the correctness of key properties.

Vienfaktorinės analizės taikymai matematinius pasiekimus lemiantiems faktoriams nustatyti / The appliencies of one factor analysis (ANOVA)to establish the factors which are settled upon mathematical achievements

Šalučka, Mindaugas 11 June 2005 (has links)
In the master work there is a scientific problem raised and worked out: what are application possibilities of one factor method analysis and how this statistic method could be used to ascertain six class pupils‘ mathematical achievements at secondary school in Lithuania. The aim of this work is to establish applying one factor analysis the main factors, which destine mathematical achievements and taking them into consideration to make conclusions and recomendations how those achievements to improve. To achieve this aim there are such tasks raised, as to analyse the quality possibilities and exactness of one factor method by establishing the factors destined by mathematical achievements, to estimate exterior and interior factors on which depend mathematical achievements and to present conclusions and recomendation. By analysing and generalizing scientific literature and statistical data it was established that one factor analysis is good to process for ranked data, when the variable of sample are independable and they are distributed according to normal law and their dispersion are similar (do not differ more than three times) this method allowed the indications of measured objects to change by a smaller number of generalizing indications without losing its main information. By investigating the mathematical achievements of six – grade pupil‘s statistically significant differences according to ANOVA method it was estasblished, that the factors which destine it are the...
