Ilberg, Fredrik January 2013 (has links)

CHALLENGES OF TECHNIQUE AND INTERPRETATION IN THE PERCUSSION MUSIC OF FREDRIK ANDERSSON: A PERFORMER’S ANALYSIS

Forsthoff, Kyle Manning 01 January 2010 (has links)
In the mid 1990s, Swedish composer Fredrik Andersson composed not everything which happens is in the newspaper (1993), the lonelyness of Santa Claus (1994), and imagine there was nothing (1996). All three pieces share a number of compositional and stylistic elements while emphasizing the capabilities of their respective instrumentations to create mysterious sonic worlds that are unique in the percussion idiom. By examining specific concerns of each piece in detail, an understanding of Andersson’s presentation of musical challenges will result. Acceptable solutions to such challenges will be examined and compared, based primarily on the author’s analysis and experience encompassing multiple performances of each of the three works, along with supplementary information provided by various other sources. The results of this document will be significant within the larger percussion community in that they will serve to increase the visibility of the composer and increase exposure of works for percussion that are not only musically distinctive within the repertoire, but also contain a variety of exciting pedagogical, technical, and interpretive challenges that will contribute to the growth of any percussionist willing to engage them. It is hoped that such engagement will “de-mystify” Andersson’s music and inspire increased performance of his works.

Valen syns : - formge med värderingar

Säfwenberg, Andreas January 2012 (has links)
Is it possible to see opinions and values in architecture? Starting from political viewpoints, I’ve taken up the ‘election cottage’ and its layout. Election cottages today are often all rather alike, regardless of the party using them. To be able to see the various parties’ values and viewpoints in the layout of the place where they meet the voters is something that benefits both the voters and the parties themselves.

Strandelin, Ida January 2017 (has links)
The stated aim of building the Swedish welfare state ("Folkhemmet") was to develop a modern society that contained equality between social classes. Interestingly, though, class inequalities still exist but have become obscured by an endeavour to reach cultural recognition with a particular focus on multiculturalism. This paper seeks to demonstrate the production and reproduction of class inequalities in Lena Andersson's novel Var det bra så?. Nancy Fraser's theory of redistribution and recognition is used to highlight the complexity and intersection of culture, ethnicity, gender and class. In that context, it is claimed that class inequalities have to be separated from cultural discrimination when the aim is to examine the establishment of social inequalities. Fraser argues that socio-economic segregation has to be seen in the light of economic and cultural inequalities as being two separate phenomena, even though they clearly are interrelated. Var det bra så? is here viewed as a critique of the Swedish welfare state ("Folkhemmet") as a political concept. The novel depicts how the focus on and belief in multiculturalism as central for the development of society has entailed a marginalization and culturalization of class.

Krig och blod, eller okända lotsar? : Stormaktstidens Sverige hos Sabaton och Stefan Andersson

Olsson, Moa January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze and compare lyrics that use and convey the Swedish empirethe Era of Great Power. Through an analytical and comparative study of Stefan Andersson's album Skeppsråttan and Sabaton's album Carolus Rex, the purpose is to elucidate how each artist / group presents the Era of Great Power. A hermeneutic perspective has been the basis for the study and the method of analysis consists of a combination of cluster analysis and comparative analysis. Cluster analysis is carried out on each album to finally produce two overarching topics that are common to both albums. The contents of these topics for each album are then compared with comparative method. Based on the cluster analysis, the common topics for the album could be shaped, namely War and Everyday life. The result was that Sabaton presents the Swedish empire- the Era of Great Power through war and soldiers' everyday life in the war. Stefan Andersson's presentation of the period is more permeated by individuals' stories taken from their everyday lives, including the war. In summary, the survey has given me a nuanced and wider picture of the historical period and how it can be presented in as different ways as the two musicians have done. That one and the same period can seem so different depending on how you want to produce it.

Klasskildringar i samtida arbetarlitteratur. En idéanalytisk studie / Portrayals of Class in Contemporary Working Class Literature. An Analysis of Ideas

Eriksson, Elina, Nordin, Sofia January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to examine the portrayals of class in four Swedish contemporary novels that have been mentioned as working class literature in the literary public sphere. During the 20th century, society has undergone vast changes due to globalization and technology development. The rise in standards of living for most people in the Western societies has led to changed consumption patterns. In consequence, there has been increased emphasis given to cultural rather than materialist explanations of social stratification. The theoretical approach of this study is based on class theories that emphasize either materialist or cultural explanations of social stratification. The methodology used is based on the analysis of ideas. In order to examine the portrayals of class in the four novels, an analysis scheme has been constructed on the bases of theories of Marx, Weber, Bourdieu and Giddens. The ideal types used are as follows: Economic capital, Cultural capital, Class in itself – class for itself, Production, exploitation, profit, Consumption, lifestyles, taste, Status and Societal change. The study argues that in spite of the fact that cultural conditions such as cultural capital and consumption patterns are evident markers of class belonging, the determining factor for class belonging is economic conditions, especially for the underclass. It also argues that the main purpose of contemporary working class literature is to criticize the class society and social inequity. Another central theme is societal change and how this affects working life and social stratification. The novels are permeated with the dichotomies we – they and power – powerlessness. There is a pessimistic picture of society that appears in the novels, where solidarity has disappeared and the characters express feelings of resignation and despair. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Biblioteket som integrerande resurs i samhället. En exemplifiering med målgruppen romer / Library as an integrating resource in the society. An exemplification with the Roma people as a target group

Carlsson, Malin January 2011 (has links)
This essay is about how the library can make a difference inintegrating the minority Roma people into the Swedish society.Roma people have been subjected to persecution anddiscrimination for a long time. In this essay, I examine theactivities, functions and capabilities of libraries that can have apositive effect for the integration of the Roma people. Myquestions are: How can libraries reach out to the Roma people andwhat function do the library have for the integration of the Romapeople? I have used Marianne Anderssons and Dorte Skot-Hansens theory the four functions of the library – the culutralcenter, the knowledge center, the information center and the socialcenter. Based on this theory, I have interpreted and analyzed thematerial that I have gathered through interviews and literaturestudies such as thesis, dissertations, repors and parliamentdocuments. The results of my studies show a predominance of twoof the four library functions – the cultural center and theknowledge center. It was largely about literature, learning andknowledge. Some informants associated the library only withbooks and silence, which can be a result of how the librarypromote itself. As the four functions overlap, activities can oftenbe interpreted from several angles. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Lange, Marie January 2015 (has links)
Since 1995 the musical Kristina från Duvemåla has been performed on many national theatre stages in Sweden and is still obtaining success and fame. It is based on novels by the famous Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg, Utvandrarna (1949), Invandrarna (1952), Nybyggarna (1956) and Sista brevet till Sverige (1959) that revolve around a Swedish family emigrating to the United Stated during the 19th century. This thesis investigates both the novels and the musical adaptation in a comparative way. Theory of adaptation and intermediality is used to analyse differences and similiarities of the stories used in the novels and the musical. It can be assumed that major changes were implemented in the adaptation of the main characters, specifically Kristina. According to that a shift in importance and variations in characteristics of the main characters appeared in the musical. Since the musical is named after the character Kristina who is moreover the key figure in the overall scenic performances, it leads to the conclusion that there exist major shifts in importance of content structures. For the analysis, individually chosen scenes are investigated in comparison with the novel contents as well as certain musical songs and dialogues. It can be ascertained that Kristina’s role in the musical has changed significantly in comparison to the novels by Vilhelm Moberg. The results do make contributions to the applied analysis of media adaptations in literary studies and musicology and might state an example for further analysis of adaptations.

Särén, Christoffer January 2022 (has links)
This essay reviews the Swedish newspapers Dagens Nyheter portrayal of the two Swedish preachers David Petander and Erik Andersson who preached during the early 20th century in Sweden. To contextualize, the preachers’ influences, Tolstoy and liberal theology, were described and compared with contemporary belief systems, mainly the Swedish church. Content analasys is used to clarify how the newspaper represent and frame the preachers. The descriptions have been divided into five categories; appearance, personality, life style, belief and names used to describe them. The results show that Dagens Nyheter used specific words and narrative to frame Petander as a good-hearted, saintlike figure, a modern day Fransiscus and Andersson as a manipulative, cruel, religious madman with a power over women compared to that of Rasputin. These narratives were used even though Petander and Andersson were alike in a lot of aspects, and that Andersson were a follower of Petander’s.
