Epoch Stages of Consciousness in The RainbowBardas, Mary Louise Ivey 05 1900 (has links)
In The Rainbow D. H. Lawrence departs from traditional literary techniques, going below the level of ego consciousness within his characters to focus on the elemental dynamic forces of their unconscious minds. Using three generations of the Brangwen family, Lawrence traces the rise of consciousness from the primal unity of the uroboros through the matriarchal epoch and finally to full consciousness, the realization of the self, in Ursula Brangwen. By correlating the archetypal symbols characteristic of three stages of consciousness outlined in Erich Neumann's Origins and History of Consciousness and The Great Mother with the three sections of the novel, it is possible to show that Lawrence utilizes the symbols most appropriate to each stage.

Welcome to the Circus: Finding ways to Artistically Express the Martial WayLewis, Donzell 21 April 2011 (has links)
This thesis explores various artistic and ritual practices of martial arts in relation to its presentation on stage. As a martial artist and actor I believe there are complementary practices in both crafts interdisciplinary of each other. For a martial artist, the individual’s performance and execution of martial arts techniques can be enhanced through emotional availability and characterization. For the actor, the martial arts can help condition the body physically, mentally and emotionally to create a grounded presence of connectivity to the earth. However, sometimes the martial arts are viewed as a militaristic discipline and not as artistic expression. I believe that the martial arts can be both discipline and artistry. Over the past three years of my graduate studies I have explored different methods to merge these methodologies. This thesis examines a successful devised show conceived by students and myself at our martial arts studio (dojang), at Martial Arts World of Powhatan, in Powhatan Virginia. This thesis’ examination describes and evaluates the production we titled M.A. Cirque: the Evolution (Martial Arts Circus: an evolution of martial arts). The M.A. Cirque is a theatrical martial arts performance expanded out of a ten minute competition routine to become a thirty minute production performed in Las Vegas, Nevada. Secondly, an exploration for further analysis of a supplemental martial arts demonstration titled Battle at Olympus: A new martial arts super show, describes the revisit of the theatrical process that was developed when devising the M.A. Cirque.

Lacerda, Sandra da Costa 30 March 2010 (has links)
Considering that apart from the teachers and the board team, the support staff works in schools and that there is few academic research about who they are, how they influence the intersubjective relations which occur in schools among employers, students, teachers and board team, delineates this research target which is to try to understand who those actors are, how they think, feel and act every day in schools, also understand their stories, experiences, practices and ways during their lives or, in other words, what was nominated archetypical journeys, which favor the search for a bigger knowledge about themselves, their advances, limits and possibilities. In oder to do that a methodological phenomenological-understanding approach was adopted, intending to investigate the questions which mobilized the support staff and influenced their way of being, thinking, acting and feeling, observing how they participate in the Educators Education Inter-Schools Project for five years. The theoretical support of this research was the indispensable contributions from Gilbert Durand, Cornelius Castoriadis, Edgar Morin, Michel Mafesolli, Joseph Campbell, Paula Carvalho and Carol Pearson, among others. This work has three chapters: the first one is dedicated to the introduction, theoretical references and methodology; the second, to the Educators Education Inter-Schools Project development, in which the support staff participated; and the third, where the reports and stories from some those professionals and their own journeys are told. In the end, there are some considerations about who those actors are and their journeys toward themselves.

Previous issue date: 2016-03-14 / This study has aimed to develop a framework to support the implementation of
content marketing and storytelling for the construction of solid brands in a postmodern
world. The motivation behind it has been primarily the importance that
brands have for both organizations and individuals, considering its economic role and
the satisfaction of objective and subjective needs. Secondly, the size of the investment
in brand communication exceeded R$ 120 billion in 2014 in Brazil, recquiring its
effective use. Finally, this research is justified by the simultaneous occurrence of two
key vectors of change in society: the emergence of a new generation of consumers
and the ubiquitous adoption of the internet and mobile telephones by the population
that has set a new media paradigm, which demand a review of marketing strategies
and tactics for branding. In this context, content marketing and storytelling are
marketing tools that have grown in use and in share of the marketing budgets.
Assuming that the two techniques can benefit from a more robust set of concepts,
parameters and processes to guide their use, an exploratory research was conducted,
consisting of fifteen interviews with specialists in brand communications and
storytelling, from distinct segments, occupying managerial positions, and in charge of
annual marketing budgets equal or superior to R$ 1.000.000. The result of this work is
an objective framework to guide the use of content marketing and storytelling for
branding, comprehending twelve steps, supported by the experience of industry
leaders with significant experience in the disciplines / Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo desenvolver um framework para guiar a utilização

Previous issue date: 2014-08-08 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The relevance and creativity of Walt Disney to the cultural history and contemporary art is express in the movie Fantasia (1940), which originality is characterized by the union between the new technologies applied to the animation movies in the first decades of the twentieth century and the diverse kinds of cultural and artistic languages produced so far. Through this combination between aesthetic and ethical values, the symbolic language used allows the identification of the archetypes of the collective unconscious that orbit in the popular imagination. This work aims to present an analysis of Fantasia movie, especially the historic, structural and symbolic aspects, through the methodological resources proposed at the John B Thompson s Depth Hermeneutics. To the results were defined three focuses of interest which are at the movie: the historical and cultural contexts which the movie was made; the technical features of the film language and, finally the behavioral issues linked to the archetypal psychology. The first chapter provides a brief introduction of the animation movies and the Disney s contributions and his staff for this autonomous art. And, points the history of the creation and production of Fantasia in its historical context. The second chapter aims to show the structural factors of the work, making a descriptive analysis and relate it to the animation principles that gave to this language the bases of a singular aesthetic. In the last chapter, it's made a reinterpretation to the animate forms in the movie Fantasia, proposed by Disney and his staff, in the perspective of archetypal psychology, in other words, what are the symbols that represents the deeper structures of the collective psyche giving the meaning of the story. The final consideration confirms the initial hypothesis that Fantasia is an original work in terms of its technical way, conditioned by ethical and aesthetic values of Judeo-Christian traditions and its timeless success is based on the universal symbols and myths that exist in the beginning of history of the civilization.

Previous issue date: 2013-11-01 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The present study aimed to observe the expression of children dream, this means selecting for a more accurate analysis, the images pertaining to the archetypes, evidenced in children's productions, which are important in the process of ego development and expansion of consciousness in childhood. It is considered that the archetypes are basic patterns of psychic organization, without content a priori, present from birth, that mediate the experience of children around fundamental issues of human life and are filled with content coming from personal experiences. The population consisted of 55 children, divided into two groups, with four to five years of age, enrolled in a public school located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. Activities were collecting the dream material of children in school hours, using design as a vehicle for the exhibition of the story of the dream. The method of analysis was qualitative, creating categories of analysis from the material obtained, based on assumptions of Analytical Psychology. It was concluded that the activity with dreams proved to be an effective channel to observe the unconscious dynamics of children, including aspects of the developmental trajectory of ego and consciousness expansion. It was observed that the content of the dream in childhood is not random, but has a sense of being present evidence archetypal mother, father and brother, important in the structuring of the personality, with its specific functions. How organizing element of the initial experiences of autonomy and symbol of the ego, the archetype of the hero was observed in a diffuse form, corresponding to what was named "Hero of the spectrum", including the symbolic unconscious formations that translate into images of shelter and differentiation, collaborative features, aspects instinctive images of confrontation and resistance indicative of individuality / O presente estudo teve por finalidade observar a expressão onírica de crianças,

A System Dynamics Model of Construction Output in KenyaMbiti, Titus Kivaa Peter, tkivaap@yahoo.com January 2008 (has links)
This study investigates fluctuations of construction output, and growth of the output in Kenya. Fluctuation and growth of construction activity are matters of concern in construction industries of many countries in the developing as well as in the developed world. The construction industry of Kenya is therefore an exemplifying case for this phenomenon. Construction activity in Kenya fluctuates excessively and grows very slowly. This remains a big challenge to policy makers, developers, consultants and contractors in their decision-making processes. In this study, systems thinking was applied to investigate the problem of excessive fluctuations and stunted growth of construction output in Kenya. The study developed a system dynamics model to simulate the construction output problem behaviour. The historical behaviour of the construction industry was described using construction output data of a 40-year period - from 1964 to 2003. Line graphs of the historical data exhibited profiles that helped to identify the system archetypes operating in the industry. From the profiles, it was deduced that the problem of fluctuations and slow growth of construction output in Kenya is encapsulated in two system archetypes, namely: balancing process with a delay, and limits to growth. The relationship between construction output and its determinant factors from the constru ction industry's environment was investigated using time series regression, which involved autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) regression and multiple regression modelling of the output. On the basis of the historical data analysis and the system archetypes identified, a system dynamics (SD) model was developed to replicate the problem of fluctuations and slow growth in the construction output. The data used to develop the system dynamics model was annual construction output in Kenya from 1964 to 2003. The model was then used: to appraise policy changes suggested by construction industry participants in Kenya, and to project construction output in Kenya from year 2004 to year 2050, in order to establish the expected future fluctuations and growth trends of the construction output. It was observed that three fundamental changes are necessary in the system structure of the construction industry of Kenya, in order to minimize fluctuations and foster growth in construction output in the country, in the long run. The changes are: setting long-term targets of annual construction output in the industry as a whole, incorporating reserve capacity in the production process, and expanding the system st ructure to capture a larger construction market. The study recommends regulation of the response of the construction industry of Kenya to changes in construction demand in the market, and expansion of the construction industry's market into the African region and beyond.

Webbportal för arketypbaserade elektroniska patientjournaler : En testimplementation av openEHRs arkitektur / Web Portal for Archetype Based Electronic Health Records : A Test Implementation of the openEHR ArchitectureFredriksson, Joakim, Andersson, Jonas January 2006 (has links)

/
One problem with electronic health record systems is that the health records are not built on a common architecture. This makes automatic exchange of patient data difficult. openEHR is a project that has developed an architecture that tries to solve this problem.

The openEHR architecture uses something called archetypes. Archetypes are reusable models that limit, structure and explain what will be stored in the electronic health record that is built on this architecture.

The main goal of this master thesis has been to find a method to generate a graphical user interface from an electronic health record created using archetypes. To solve this problem first archetypes and a system that generates health records from these had to be created. Then a Web portal has been developed that displays the generated health records.

The Web portal can be used to demonstrate the graphical user interface of a system where both patients and authorized personnel can read patient records that are bases on the openEHR architecture.

Mandalans mittpunkt : Arketyper och symboler i Susan Coopers Mörkret stigerNygård, Maria January 2007 (has links)

The aim of this study is to analyse the archetypical patterns and symbols in Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising. An archetype is, in literary studies, a concept used to describe an image, symbol or narrative pattern which is very frequently occurring , for example the Hero archetype. Archetype theories today are mainly based on the work of psychiatrist C.G. Jung or literary theorist Northrop Frye.

The Dark is Rising is a series of five fantasy books for children, in which an old struggle between two cosmic forces, Light and Dark, is about to reach its final battle. This study shows how The Dark is Rising follows an archetypical narrative pattern in which the aim is to create a whole – the Self, in Jungian theory. The conception of the world in The Dark is Rising is an archetypical one. The world was once whole, but later divided in two opposing forces – Light and Dark. In the final book, when the Dark is defeated and the Light leaves Earth to the humans, the world is whole again. The life of main character Will Stanton also follows this pattern, making him an archetypical Hero. His development can be seen as the process of individuation, which in Jungian theory is the process of creating a whole, unified Self by integrating the conscious and the unconscious. Also the Mandala, which is a very important symbol in the books, is an archetypical symbol for unity and the Self.
