Visual analysis of the decay of pears

Al-Sowaidi, Faraj January 1988 (has links)
This creative project explored the visual characteristics of the transitions found in the decay of the pear. The project consisted of oil paintings, watercolors and prints. I found that what is normally viewed as ugly can be visually stimulating or actually beautiful. These images were produced to communicate the visual changes which occure with the characteristics of the fruit through the passage of time. / Department of Art

A series of paintings, drawings, and compositions, oriented toward a fine arts direction in the use of synthetic and mixed media.

Frykman, Judith 01 April 1966 (has links)
The thesis is in the form of a commentary on the development of my work from the beginning of this year. The studies have followed a general pattern of closed to open, or linear to painterly. Numerous changes in attitude towards the basic elements of composition, and their use, have taken place. Among those most frequently mentioned are: line, dark and light, intensity and warm-cool color relationships. In connection with these compositional elements, surface texture, subject matter and various media are discussed. Some consideration is given to conflict between conceptual and media orientations. The effect of this conflict in a teaching situation completes the general outline of the thesis.

Aspects of the city; a group of paintings in varied media, based on the theme of the city and river front

Kimball, Frances Evelyn 01 June 1967 (has links)
The main purpose of my work was to explore the properties of various painting media, principally those of synthetic composition and at the same time to explore and extend the color range of my palette in order to reflect attitudes of the theme. The subject was selected because of the unlimited possibilities in composition through the use of the contrasting active and quiet aspects of the city. The paintings are representational abstracts which I have tried to make function as well-organized compositions without completely destroying the realistic content. Working with a subject-oriented theme makes each painting a new problem and, therefore, each painting is discussed separately in terms of compositional elements, color relationships and materials employed.

Técnica e entusiasmo como condição para se alcançar a excelência segundo Platão / Technique and enthusiasm as condition for achieving excellence according to Plato

Petrelli, Humberto Zanardo, 1970- 24 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Alcides Hector Rodriguez Benoit / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-24T23:50:59Z (GMT). This work aims to demonstrate that to acquire "excellence" (aretê), according to Plato (427-347 BC), it is necessary to combine both technique (tekhnê) and enthusiasm (enthoysiasmos). Having and using only the technique or just the enthusiasm makes evident the mastery of an insufficient method for achieving "excellence". This is because, even if you understand the enthusiasm as "a god working inside of a man" and acting on behalf of an individual in their efforts to "excellence", per se it is only volitional act by itself is something only potential, virtual, which helps potentiation, the actual existence and complete of "excellence". In this sense, the technique is needed once it is the force that impels to performance of any kind of activity accurately, with knowledge and regularly, since it is conditio sine qua non for either an autonomous behavior and, for good learning and execution any task. Finally, our proper understanding of this process, namely, the proper conjunction of "technique" and "enthusiasm" and thus establishing "excellence", will be constructed through the study of the dialogues, Sophist, Meno, Phaedrus, Symposium, Charmides, Philebus, Ion, Phaedo, Protagoras, Gorgias, Timaeus, Plato¿s Republic, fundamental to the exercise that we undertake / Doutorado / Filosofia / Doutor em Filosofia

Narrativas audiovisuais : processos criativos de SIdade e de MultipliSIdade / Audiovisual narratives : creative processes of SIdade and MultipliSIdade

In this dissertation, I reflect about the creative processes of two narrative audiovisuals of my own; SIdade* and MultipliSIdade**. As a line of thought, I approach the issue of the relationship between the fragment and whole in relation to the poetics and the construction techniques of the works. The work's poetics concerns the development of a perceptive eye on the contemporary urban environment, both in relation to significant fragments that refer to an identity of the urban whole, as to the individuals/fragments of the contemporary city and the changes in the forms of seeing, feeling and perceiving the collective/whole. Technically, I relate my fragments - the origin of the idea and the drawings - to others, captured on the Internet, and which work together in an audiovisual whole, the same way as I also identify, in the works, the use of procedures belonging to the fields of moving images such as cinema, video, animation and new technologies. * SIdade Portuguese metaplasm that explicits the individual character inside the urban context: cidade (city) > ci dade > si(own) dade (noum forming suffix equivalent to English -ity or -ness) > SIdade ~ ownness. ** MultipliSIdade Portuguese metaplasm (from multiplicity) that enhances the heterogenous character of the individualities comprising the urban whole / Mestrado / Artes Visuais / Mestre em Artes

In this investigation, we talk about a construction of a vision of technique and composition for "voices" into the scene, analyzing three theater works from this perspective. Two of them were made in the context of the Group Theatre Abya Yala in Costa Rica, which are "Cenizas: short plays by Samuel Beckett" and "Jesus Project" - composed of songs and voices. The other one is the monologue called "El Funeral" - premiered last year in LUME Theatre - where a nature of acting between representation and performativity was worked on / Doutorado / Artes da Cena / Doutor em Artes da Cena
