The changing image of attractive work: A qualitative study on generation Y and Z

Sörensen, Alexandra, Edwall, Lovisa January 2023 (has links)
In today’s labor market the competition is high and it is becoming increasingly important for organizations to be attractive employers in order to attract and retain employees. According to research, the different generations that are currently active in the labor market have different expectations and ideas about what identifies an attractive employer. It is therefore important for organizations to consider the different expectations and adapt their employer brand to the generations they recruit accordingly. In this study, we are examining an organization that is experiencing difficulties in retaining employees in the Y and Z generation. Thus, we want to identify what these people consider attractive work, how the organization today works to be an attractive employer. As well as how employees and former employees within generation Y and Z believe that the organization can be developed. A qualitative method has been used, data collection has taken place through semi-structured interviews and information from exit interviews. Together with the theory and data collection, the study shows that generation Y and Z attaches great importance to factors such as feedback, flexibility, and development in the workplace. Other identified factors have also been found to be important, including salary, relationships in the workplace and leadership. Finally, suggestions for improvements to the organization that can help to retain employees ingeneration Y and Z in the future are discussed.

What do nurses consider an attractive employer? : A qualitative interview study on how employers in healthcare can strengthen their employer brand

Baltovic Tuominen, Susanna, Lygren, Moa January 2022 (has links)
Sweden's Municipalities and Regions and the Statistics Authority (SCB) predict that there will be a shortage of nurses in the future. The need to improve skills supply work exists and one way is to strive towards becoming a more attractive employer with a stronger employer brand. The purpose of the essay is to find out which factors are important for nurses in order for them to consider an employer attractive and want to work there. Seven professional nurses with varying experience in the profession were interviewed and answered open questions regarding, among other things, relationships in the workplace, development opportunities, the experience of what is important in the workplace, the view of the employer and recruitment. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using a content analysis. The result shows that employers need to value their staff. In addition, good leadership is required, which means, among other things, a manager who sees all employees, is fair, makes the employees involved by making use of their skills and ideas. In addition to that, functioning work groups are required that contribute to well-being in the workplace. In order to retain nurses, they need to be able to work with patients, to benefit, to have an adequate salary, to be able to work with development, and to have time and resources to provide good care. Employers need to understand the pride that exists in the nursing profession and that nurses are not only hands in care, but that their biggest motivator in the profession is the patients. Nurses want to be seen as competent employees who can contribute with knowledge and experience, and the employer needs to see, value and above all take advantage of that. These are factors an employer needs to know in order to be able to develop a strong employer brand within healthcare.

The illegal exploitation of certain marine species as a form of environmental crime in the Western Cape

Herbig, Friedo Johann Willem 25 August 2009 (has links)
Conservation criminology as a derivative of environmental criminology is considered in this dissertation through a strategic/empirical investigation of the illegal exploitation of a cross-section of certain, essentially fiscally attractive marine resources, as a form of environmental crime in the Western Cape province. Through primarily qualitative and quantitative interviewing techniques, augmented by the application of a survey questionnaire, significant and pragmatic insight was obtained from knowledgeable functionaries. The study elucidates the purview and dynamics of the marine crime phenomenon by focussing specifically on issues such as modus operandi, crime scenes, causation, operational efficacy, and social/biological repercussions. Deficient policing capacity and concomitant lack of deterrence, compounded by institutional limitations, emerge as fundamental proclivities impeding proficient marine resource conservation. It is envisaged that this study will broaden the frontiers of marine crime knowledge, contributing not only to the implementation of effective mitigation programmes but also to enriching the criminological discipline as a whole. / Criminology / M.A. (Criminology)

Feigenbaum Scaling

Sendrowski, Janek January 2020 (has links)
In this thesis I hope to provide a clear and concise introduction to Feigenbaum scaling accessible to undergraduate students. This is accompanied by a description of how to obtain numerical results by various means. A more intricate approach drawing from renormalization theory as well as a short consideration of some of the topological properties will also be presented. I was furthermore trying to put great emphasis on diagrams throughout the text to make the contents more comprehensible and intuitive.
